Job Description
Doyon Management Services, LLC (DMS) , a wholly owned subsidiary of Doyon Government Group (DGG), provides design-build and general construction services for demolition, new construction, renovations, repairs, and civil projects at government-owned facilities and military installations.
The Construction Estimator prepares cost estimates for construction projects to assist with bidding and pricing, while supervising estimating operations and producing accurate estimates for multi-disciplinary Federal Government projects, including Bid-Build and Design-Build projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Estimate commercial building construction and civil/public works projects
- Create project schedules and allocate costs
- Manage budgets and collaborate with construction or project managers
- Review data to determine material and labor requirements and prepare itemized lists
- Compute cost factors and prepare estimates for planning, organizing, and scheduling work; preparing bids; selecting vendors or subcontractors; and determining cost-effectiveness
- Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or implement cost reductions
- Consult with clients, vendors, or other stakeholders to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
- Interface with internal teams to obtain support and commitment for cost estimates
- Organize and manage a centralized cost estimating database and formal processes to ensure the use of historical data
- Analyze completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and identify reasons for discrepancies
- Provide recommendations to improve cost estimating procedures and reduce discrepancies between estimated and actual costs
- Identify cost trends to assist management with cost reduction and process improvement efforts
- Supervise and mentor Estimators, Project Engineers, and other staff within the estimating department

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Most of the work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings, involving a diverse range of people with varying functions, personalities, and abilities.
