Job Description

Seeking a Construction Manager to be responsible for the following:
  • Setting up initial layout and site infrastructure services to include water, power, internet and office trailers and required facilities.
  • Scheduling and ensuring appropriate staffing for daily construction activities with employees and sub-contractors.
  • Supporting the PM and APM for required management coverage.
  • Managing and supporting employee development and growth.
  • Providing regular and direct feedback on performance and goal progress.
  • Ensuring construction disciplines are coordinating daily functions to minimize schedule delays.
  • Identifying potential schedule changes, workflow and staffing issues.
  • Performing site investigations for potential construction sites.
  • Recommending and evaluating sub-contractors for use on project.
  • Daily monitoring of the construction site to oversee work in progress.
  • Acting as the primary on-site leader and managing execution teams, including all subcontractors, on assigned projects.
  • Evaluating the contractual scope of work and the impact of client issued bulletins, field directives and / or scheduling changes.
  • Managing and developing a viable long-term relationship with customers, consultants, prime contractors and subcontractors.
  • Attend job safety, plan of the day, quality, security and progress meetings as required.
  • Ensuring project document controls are in compliance with contract requirements.
  • Overseeing the production of multiple job sites.
  • Ensuring the safety of each employee, vendor, sub-contractor and temporary labor employees.
  • Coordinating schedules with the construction department, engineering department and purchasing department.

The Successful Applicant
  • 4-8 years of Construction Management experience for renewable energy projects across solar, storage and wind.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Environmental Science or related field
  • Impressive track record and experience in development of renewable energy projects
  • Previous applicable experience working in a commercial negotiation environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, multi-task, make decisions, prioritize, and meet assigned deadlines in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills - able to work and communicate effectively with a cross-functional internal team, vendors, consultants, various project stakeholders, authorities having legal control, utilities, state agencies etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5+ years of experience managing construction projects or equivalent academic experience.
  • Active Florida contractor's license.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing a team of trade partners in the field.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using project management software tools.
  • Proven track record of delivering full scope construction projects.
  • Actively involved on the jobsite as needed, especially performing quality walks.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Commercial and horizontal development construction experience.
  • A high level of practical construction knowledge.
  • The ability to interact well with others in person, verbally, and in writing.

  • Connect with stakeholders to develop timelines and project deliverables.

  • Ensures projects are completed in compliance with the agreed client contract, 3rd party contracts, purchase agreements, plans, and specifications and approved changes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Schedule and complete assignments within required time-frames.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to supervise direct reports, plan, manage, organize and communicate with team members.

Job Summary

Plans, coordinates, and supervises field operations of projects. Provides technical direction and is responsible for safety, costs, productivity, profitability, and overall quality of the work (including self-performed work).

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing field and construction activities that includes, as needed and approved by AUS, construction coordinators and other Construction Manager (CM) support staff. Varies extensively depending on the degree of AUS construction contract oversight activity.
  • Performs Quality Control checks on their own work product and that of their staff.
  • Supports the Airport Program Manager in coordinating with other COA departments (i.e. Capital Delivery, Central Procurement Embedded Airport Team, Development Services Department, Finance, etc.).
  • Assist the Airport Program Manager (APM), Project Manager and Capital Delivery Project Manager (CDPM) in change management & scope development.
  • Coordinates with the City Engineering Construction Coordinators (Construction Inspectors) from Capital Delivery Services Department.
  • Liaison between contractors and internal field AUS stakeholders (i.e. Maintenance, Operations, Security, etc.).
  • Attend Contractor Progress Owner Architect Contractor (OAC) meetings, punch walks, mockup reviews, etc.
  • Verifying the construction contractors' mobilization schedules including recommendations to APM for approval of contractual requirements before issuance of Notice to Proceed.
  • Has a detailed knowledge of the preparation, updating, and maintenance of the project schedule(s). This will include an overall schedule and/or individual schedules, as required, to track design review activities, procurement activities and construction activities.
  • Coordinate with the Program/Project Manager in collaboration with pre-construction and design teams to review plans & information related to constructability and all costs involved in developing the project's execution.
  • Reviewing and approving contractors' Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) and Logistics plan(s).
  • Managing quality services related to oversight and supervision of construction contractors' quality control services, including, at a minimum, confirmation that the standards required by the contract are met.
  • Reviewing, adapting as necessary, and monitoring construction safety programs.
  • Leading periodic construction meetings, and additional meetings if needed, to resolve issues impacting cost and schedule.
  • Supports the review and negotiations of Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) field costs, equipment, and General Conditions (GCs).
  • Working with AUS's Environmental Team to monitor compliance with all environmental requirements.
  • Overseeing construction monitoring and associated reporting as required to confirm Contractor compliance with the contract requirements.
  • Ensures that project site and company assets are secure and maintain a safe and respectful working environment at all times by coordinating with ROCIP team, AUS safety and risk management teams.
  • Provides input to monthly pay-application reviews so the APM and CDPM can finalize the billing.
  • Review Daily Construction Reports prepared by COA construction coordinators and weekly work plans to achieve schedule compliance.
  • Supports the contract change order review process, including review of contractor estimates, negotiate change orders, and assist APM to obtain required approvals.
Qualifications
  • Must be local to Austin, TX or willing to relocate to work full time on site.
  • Experience on Aviation projects, and previous experience working on or around Airport taxiways, aprons, runways, utility improvements.
  • Minimum 10 years in the construction industry, and be knowledgeable about current environmental codes and requirements for such work.
  • Excellent communicator, responsible for coordination with not only the Contractor, but all of the various stakeholders associated with this work, not limited to the following: executive team, Airlines, Operations and Environmental, third-party inspectors, City inspectors, and others.
  • Proficient in Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite, Procore and SharePoint applications.
  • Ability to track and evaluate the schedule provided by the Contractor as well as be able to assist in the Change Management process.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Guiding diverse teams, resolving conflicts, and keeping morale high on-site.
  • Communication: Clear, concise interaction with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders-both written and verbal.
  • Time Management: Juggling multiple timelines and ensuring projects stay on schedule.
  • Problem-Solving: Quickly addressing unexpected issues like weather delays, supply shortages, or design changes.
  • Adaptability: Construction sites are dynamic, being flexible and calm under pressure is key.
  • Negotiation: Managing contracts, budgets, and vendor relationships with confidence and fairness.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with regulations.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) preferred.
  • CCM (Certified Construction Manager) preferred.
  • P6 Proficiency preferred.

Job Summary

Plans, coordinates, and supervises field operations of projects. Provides technical direction and is responsible for safety, costs, productivity, profitability, and overall quality of the work (including self-performed work).
