Our client, a nationwide provider of high-quality food products has an immediate opening for a Engineering Project Manager, to join their winning team in Collingswood.
Our candidate of choice will manage and implement various projects related to production operations management and expansion for all US Operations. You will oversee the planning, design, and execution of assigned projects such as plant expansions, equipment installations and designs, etc., and coordinate internal and external resources and work closely with the maintenance and production departments to ensure the successful completion of various projects.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Prepares and updates project engineering procedures including description of the project administration process and contract documentation guidelines.
- Provides technical oversight and coordination of project engineering work; through project coordination meetings and other means, monitors progress against project schedules and budgets; reviews project design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, contract requirements, and related specifications; recommends allocation of resources as required to accomplish goals.
- Monitors progress and performance of capital projects against capital improvement plan; evaluates and approves changes that substantially impact the scope, budget, and schedule of the projects.
- Proficiency using presentation software to explain complex information to non-technical management personnel and other stakeholders.
- Develop and monitor project engineering schedules, budgets, and forecasts
- Participates actively as a member of the plant management team; provides necessary support for other plant functions/activities as determined by manager
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date project files and drawings, and identifying and corrective safety, ergonomic and operational problems through proper design of equipment
- Applies any environmental regulations and ensure they are respected
- Reads, analyzes, and interprets a variety of instructions, manuals, and procedures in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form
- Demonstrates professionalism in all aspects of plants rules and regulations and encourages quality personnel performance
- Ensure that all identified contractors are suitably pre-qualified/ assured for the delivery of the project.
- Provide technical direction to supply chain for the negotiation of the purchase of any good and/ or services required for the delivery of the project.
- Facilitate, and participate in the planning process and provide input for decisions effecting facility operations, maintenance and repair, and technical task/project execution.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in engineering, project management or related field required; Masters degree or MBA preferred
- 5 years of project and/or plant engineering management experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- 5 years of relevant work experience; preferably in Engineering and Project Management
- 3-5 years of Management experience
- Minimum of 3 years experience in Food Processing, including Thermal Processes and/or sanitation
- Experience in Automation and Controls Systems preferred
- Ability to establish, meet deadlines and prioritize work
- Experience in private manufacturing sector
- Ability to initiate, compile, analyze and provide accurate reporting
- Knowledge and understanding of multiple trades to detect issues/opportunities regarding progress to schedule, workload and manpower, materials, etc. required
- Knowledge of facility equipment, construction, automated equipment, water processing, waste management equipment, and maintenance techniques required
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
- Knowledge and experience in continuous improvement processes, such as Kaizen, 6 Sigma, etc.
- Ability to work with confidential information
- Working knowledge of MS Project, AutoCAD, and other standard programs and systems for updating, modifying, and reporting project progress
- Detail and deadline oriented
- Strong decision making and strong problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must read and write English
- Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives

Position Summary: The Project Estimator - Civil & Mechanical, will assist in the development of pricing and costing for both public bid opportunities as well as design-build or reduced competition pursuits related to various types of treatment plants. Those may include water treatment facilities, wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, water intake facilities, bio-gas facilities and renewable energy projects.
Detailed responsibilities include but are not limited to: This Civil & Mechanical position must have a background in earthwork, excavation and/or piping systems estimating and take-off abilities. Read and understand project plans and specifications, knowledge and understanding of contract language is a plus, locate, track, and solicit subcontractors and material vendors, complete various estimating duties utilizing a combination of quantitative take-offs, labor production estimate, on-screen estimating within set deadlines, work collectively within the team of estimators. Ability to evaluate and compare multiple material vendors and/or subcontractors for completeness of scope, schedule, and compliance with plans and specs. Compile and finalize the estimate within the deadline and actively participate in team reviews with operations staff. Assist Operations with transition from bid to the project deployment.
Essential Job functions:
- Build and maintain sound, trusting relationships with co-workers, owners, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Perform detailed analyses and comparisons of subcontractor and vendor scopes and pricing.
- Perform detailed quantitative material take-off for vendor scope and pricing along with labor estimates.
- Ability to search new market areas for subcontractor and material vendors.
- Properly communicate and coordinate with co-workers, material vendors, subcontractors, engineers, owners.
- Maintain accurate, coherent, detailed, and reliable estimate files.
- Willingness and ability to learn new computer software systems. Examples may include AgTek, Google Sketchup, AutoCAD, Plan Swift, Hard Dollar/In Eight, Microsoft Project
- MUST HAVE WATER/WASTEWATER EXPERIENCE!
- Valid Driver's License
- Always display a professional and courteous attitude
- Ability to work overtime when required
- Ability to travel when required, overnight travel potential
- Be able to read project plans and specifications
