Job Description
The Deputy Site Safety and Health Officer plays a crucial role in fostering a culture of safety within an organization and supporting the Site Safety and Health Officer in the overall safety management system.
The incumbent is responsible for providing support to site SSHO for effective implementation of safety system processes and BeyondZero Culture. Their primary responsibility is to assist in creating a safe and healthy work environment in accordance with the Accident Prevention Plan for the Base Operations Support (BOS) contract at Naval Base Kitsap, Silverdale WA. They will also collaborate with the Site Safety and Health Officer to develop and implement safety programs and policies.
**Essential Duties & Job Functions:**
- Provide support to site SSHO for effective implementation of safety system processes and BeyondZero Culture.
- Serve as alternate site safety and health officer in the absence of SSHO.
- Serve as the safety technical resource to supervisors ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Support development of task specific AHA
- Perform safety inspections and audits to evaluate culture, ensure regulatory compliance and identify areas of improvement. Assist in development of corrective action plan on identified deficiencies.
- Must be able to work in heavy industrial environment and extreme temperature variations.
- Support incident investigations to determine the root cause and support development and ensure implementation of corrective actions.
**Accountable For:**
- Compliance with contract requirements and Amentum Technology, Inc. policies and procedures, including Rules of Conduct.
- Complying with local, state and federal regulations.
- Knowledge of Service Contract Act, Davis-Bacon Act, Walsh-Healey Act, proposal development, spreadsheet analysis, cost and pricing formulations, and Department of Labor Wage Determinations.
- Ability to multi-task and set priorities and handle multiple projects with varying deadlines.
- Timely completion and accuracy of all work.

**Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Professional Associations):**
**Mandatory**
- BA or BS in Occupational Safety and Health, or other similar technical field or at least five (5) years of progressive and relevant experience required.
- 30-hour OSHA Construction or GI course, or equivalent training preferred.
- Willingness and ability to successfully complete a minimum of 8-hours professional development training annually is required.
- Champions health, safety and zero accident culture and makes this visible and mandatory throughout the area. Exhibits principles and safe work practices; adherence to established standards and procedures.
- Accepts responsibility for own safety as well as that of others
- Well-developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated skills in technical writing and able to deliver effective presentations
- Can understand and interpret OSHA, ANSI, NFPA and other regulatory standards appropriately and provide adequate consultation to Leadership on compliance with those standards.
- Able to prepare procedures/policies and training presentations.
- Builds positive/effective relationships with clients, management and co-workers and demonstrates focus on satisfying both internal and external customers.
