Our client, a mid-size company, is seeking an experienced Controller for a long-term contract opportunity. This critical position requires a hands-on leader who can assess current deficiencies, evaluate personnel capabilities, streamline processes, and successfully manage the day-to-day accounting operations. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and has a track record of identifying inefficiencies and driving operational improvement while maintaining accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Financial Management: Oversee and manage the company's accounting operations, including general ledger, account reconciliations, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial close processes.
+ Operational Oversight: Evaluate current accounting processes and workflows, identify deficiencies, and implement streamlined and efficient solutions to enhance productivity and compliance
+ Deficiency Analysis: Review operational processes to identify areas for improvement and develop actionable steps to address gaps or inconsistencies in the workflow.
+ Team Assessment: Evaluate the performance and capabilities of the accounting team, providing recommendations for skill development, role optimization, or team restructuring as necessary.
+ Strategic Process Improvement: Collaborate with senior leadership to align financial operations with organizational goals, including improvements in reporting, technology adoption, and data accuracy
+ Compliance and Reporting: Ensure adherence to all applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies, while producing timely and accurate financial reports for stakeholders.
+ Ad Hoc Projects: Support leadership with financial analysis and special projects as needed to assist in decision-making or optimize company performance.
Requirements
Qualifications:
+ Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation preferred but not required.
+ Experience: Proven experience as a Controller, preferably in a mid-size company, with a strong background in driving operational change and improvement.
+ Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of GAAP and regulatory compliance, as well as proficiency within ERP systems and advanced Excel functionality.
+ Skills: Exceptional analytical skills, strong interpersonal abilities for team assessment, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
+ Onsite Commitment: Must be able to work 100% onsite to foster strong collaboration and oversight of operational processes.

**This position will play a crucial role in supporting the department to advance our strategic priorities:**
**1.)** ensuring financial reports reconcile to the system of record;
**2.)** partners with the business operations to improve processes and procedures for accurate and timely and timely financial reporting;
**3.)** ensuring regulatory and state reporting is completed accurately, timely and reconciles to the system of record;
**4.)** ensuring all financial accounting entries are recorded in the system of record accurately and timely;
**5.)** providing leadership, training, ongoing feedback and management, to advance and develop our team members. The Manager of Financial Reporting/Assistant Controller will support the following strategic areas of focus: * Special Projects/Process Improvement * EHC Consolidations * Cash and Accounts Receivable * Fixed Assets and Leased Assets * Liabilities and Debt * Payroll and Benefits
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or a related field.
+ Six years related experience, including management experience preferably in a related setting (i.e. University or non-profit setting for Emory University, hospital or health related finance for Hospital).
+ Preferred: Six years of financial analysis or accounting experience, revenue cycle experience, business planning experience and knowledge of clinical service lines; CPA.

**OVERVIEW:**
The VP, Corporate Controller, reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, leads the corporate accounting function and provides strategic oversight of the record-to-report process across the business. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, effective internal controls, and compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and SOX requirements.
Working closely with cross-functional teams, the VP manages external reporting, drives policy development, and supports key initiatives such as M&A and capital markets activities. The position also champions continuous improvement, automation, and the development of a high-performing accounting organization.
**RESPONSIBILITIES | ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:**
+ Lead the corporate accounting team and, including the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
+ Lead the preparation and review of external financial statements and SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K), ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations.
+ Prepare and present internal close packages, key controllership metrics, and balance sheet reviews for senior leadership.
+ Direct technical accounting research and documentation of complex and non-routine transactions, such as revenue recognition, business combinations, leases, and equity compensation.
+ Maintain and enhance global accounting policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with evolving standards and consistent application across business units.

+ Partner with FP&A, investor relations, tax, and treasury to ensure consistent and accurate financial reporting and support business decision-making.
**KNOWLEDGE | SKILLS | ABILITIES:**
+ Detailed knowledge of US GAAP standards and SEC reporting, financial statements, internal controls and SOX requirements
+ Detail-oriented with high degree of accuracy
+ Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to clearly and concisely communicate accounting and reporting topics to finance and non-finance colleagues

**EXPERIENCE | QUALIFICATIONS:**

+ CPA required

We are looking for an experienced Controller/Chief Financial Officer to oversee and optimize our financial operations in Fairburn, Georgia. This role requires a strategic leader who can ensure efficient cash management, financial reporting, and contract administration while maintaining compliance with statutory regulations. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in accounting processes and a proactive approach to supporting organizational goals.
Responsibilities:
+ Oversee all accounting, finance, and treasury operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, monthly close, and financial reporting.
+ Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and variance analysis.
+ Maintain and continuously strengthen internal controls, ensuring compliance with GAAP and all regulatory standards.
+ Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and present results to ownership/leadership.
+ Analyze financial performance, develop actionable insights, and make recommendations for business improvements and cost control.
+ Manage relationships with external partners, including banks, auditors, and tax advisors.
+ Supervise and mentor a small team (or oversee outsourced functions, as needed).

Requirements

+ 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience; prior experience as a Controller or CFO, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
+ Strong knowledge of manufacturing accounting (inventory, cost accounting, job/standard costing).
+ Hands-on experience with accounting/ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, etc.).
+ Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and team leadership skills in a fast-paced setting.
+ Excellent communication skills and the ability to present financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
+ High ethical standards, integrity, and a collaborative mindset.
+ Experience working in a small company or entrepreneurial environment preferred.
