Key Responsibilities:

The Assistant Controller supports the Plant Controller in the direct supervision of the day-to-day general accounting functions and coordination month end closing process, and daily/weekly monthly financial reporting. Assist in the development of financial plans and forecasts, and the analysis of operational results. Prime day-to-day responsibility will be cost accounting; monitor and report inventories, standard cost revisions and the operating budget will be key responsibilities.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist with General Accounting functions such as financial reporting, fixed assets management, inter-company accounting, and daily expense analysis.
  • Assist with month end closing including preparing and posting of journal entries and reconcile monthly ledger accounts and help establish accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assist in monitoring and managing Raw material, Work-in-process, and Finished goods inventory.
  • Assist establishing and monitoring standard cost for each product and monitor MRP reports like Inventory, cost absorptions and variances. Manage and analyze standard costs, BOM and routers.
  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly business review and Business Unit Staff meeting packages.
  • Assist in financial, internal, and governmental audits to maintain compliance.
  • Perform a monthly testing of internal controls including SOX controls using Audit and self-assessed tools (ASAT) to ensure compliance with corporate standards and document observations using an online portal called Audit and Self-assessment portal (ASP)
  • Assist controller in monthly/quarterly/annually forecasting/budgeting as needed.
  • Assist controller to monitor and analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and Key Financial Indicators (KFI) to identify operational processes inefficiencies and recommend necessary improvements.
  • Provide budget and project analysis for capital expenditure. Assist controller with financial payback and ROI analysis on capital projects as well post-implementation project review on completed projects.
  • Participate in the company's continuous improvement projects to assist in identifying opportunities and implement cost-saving objectives.

**ROLE SUMMARY:**
As a Sr. Controller supporting Vertical Operations, you will be responsible for providing strategic financial leadership and robust analytical support to drive operational and financial performance at the plant level. This position leads key financial processes, including month-end close, projections, budgeting, and variance analysis, ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely, and insightful reporting to support decision-making.The role requires a strong command of financial principles and cost accounting within a manufacturing environment, with a focus on both routine and ad hoc analysis to identify issues, recommend corrective actions, and support business case development. It acts as a critical partner to cross-functional teams, delivering objective financial perspectives and ensuring alignment with internal controls and compliance standards such as IFRS and SOX. With proven leadership and project management capabilities, this role frequently leads and contributes to process improvement initiatives and cross-functional projects, ensuring responsibilities are executed with accuracy, urgency, and attention to detail. Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach are essential to influence stakeholders and drive successful outcomes.
**JOB RESPONSIBILTIES:**
+ Provide financial leadership and analytical support to Vertical Operations plant
+ Responsible for leading & coordinating month-end closing, latest estimates (projections), reporting/variance analysis, and budgets
+ Provide both routine and ad hoc accurate and timely reporting, analysis, tracking & monitoring, and budget support
+ Perform variance analysis combined with developing and producing models and reports to conduct analysis based on management/customer requests to determine issues and escalate for resolution
+ Serve as an objective point of view by providing business case analysis to proposed changes
+ Ensure compliance to internal controls, standards, and regulations (IFRS, SOX/MICs, etc.)
+ Lead and participate as a member of process improvement or project teams

**JOB QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
+ MBA and/or CPA a plus
+ 5+ years of experience in an analytical or Accounting/Finance role. Cost accounting/manufacturing experience preferred
+ Thorough understanding of financial processes, including financial statements, general accounting
+ Strong knowledge of SAP
+ Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office required
+ Strong analytical and problem solving skills; excellent oral and written communication skills

The Accounting Manager is part of the Walker Evans site leadership team and serves as a business partner with the operations & financial management team. The position holds the responsibility to effectively forecast and communicate plant manufacturing results, establish & enforce a strong controls environment, and ensure compliance with company polices and GAAP. The Accounting Manager is responsible for the financial integrity of the plant including general accounting functions, reconciliations, management financial reporting, month- end & year- end processing. The Accounting Manager will assure successful and timely completion of plant financial records, management reporting, and budget & forecast processing. The Accounting Manager will be hands on, design, develop, and coordinate profitability analysis, process improvements, and other business analysis. The position will lead & mentor an exceptional staff and work closely with our corporate financial and accounting teams. Strengths in accuracy, problem solving, and flexibility is critical.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Oversees and leads all accounting functions within plant including but not limited to inventory accounting, account reconciliations, balance sheet accuracy, labor reporting, business analysis and financial reporting.
+ Work closely with plant Leadership, understanding the various aspects of the operation and the impact change has on financial performance. Drive continual accountability and improvements throughout the plant.
+ Clearly communicate financial metrics to leadership within the plant and Global Operations organization.
+ Participate in the development and reporting of the plant's strategic plans
+ Compile monthly reporting and analytics of actual results, forecasts, annual plans
+ Prepare budget, forecast, and interim projections for the plant location.
+ Develops tools to aide the Operations team in decision making and forward-looking analysis.
+ Preparation, review and approval of all capital project activity in the location. ROI, payback, NOV and IRR analysis as appropriate.
+ Responsible for accounting oversight, including balance sheet, variance and expense reconciliations.
+ Responsible for on-going review and audit of plant financial systems and activities to ensure compliance with company policies and GAAP.
+ Ensures accuracy of cycle counting reported results. Investigate and analyze variances
+ Coordinate documentation and review of processes for Sarbanes/Oxley section 404 requirements.
+ Provide leadership and support to finance team; provide a positive working environment. Establish clear goals that provide a challenge for the employees.
+ Works with a sense of urgency and ensures timeliness of all reporting.
+ Performs/coordinates miscellaneous projects as assigned.
**SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE**
+ A Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related field is required.
+ Experience in Manufacturing/Operations environment strongly preferred.
+ A high level of knowledge of PC applications (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint) and mainframe systems is required. Dynamics 365 Business Central, AS400/MAPICS, and OneStream experience a plus.
+ Strong analytical and communication skills; detail and deadline oriented.
+ Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities.
+ 6+ years of experience in finance/accounting is required, including cost accounting experience in a Manufacturing environment

+ Dynamic fast-paced cross functional team environment
+ Operates primarily on site with reasonable flexibility for remote work
+ Minimal travel required (1-2 trips per year), primarily to locations within our plant network
The starting pay range for California is $103,000 to $136,000 per year. Individual salaries and positioning within the range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. While individual pay could fall anywhere in the range based on these factors, it is not common to start at the high end or top of the range.
