What are we looking for?

The Provider Data Specialist role is responsible for educating, verifying, monitoring, and accurately managing all of Versant Health's two national networks of 80,000+ Ophthalmology and Optometric practitioner's and office's demographic and payee data. The role performs additions, changes, and terminations to Versant Health's provider data systems to positively effect the accuracy of the Provider Directory, Utilization Management and authorizations, and claims processing. The Provider Data Specialist role will also perform periodic audits, maintenance, and troubleshooting of provider, office, and payee data utilizing the National Practitioner Identifier (NPI) Registry, state's Provider Master Files for Medicaid Registration, and Tax Identification programs

Where you will have an impact

  • Directly responsible for creating newly contracted providers, their offices, and payee(s), into the three (3) provider databases based on data received via contracting, credentialing reports, and direct provider submissions
  • Directly responsible for creating new non-contracted providers, their offices, and payee(s), into the three (3) provider databases; comprehensively reviews and edits existing non-contracted provider data to facilitate accurate claims processing and the issuance of authorizations.
  • Directly responsible to comprehensively reviewing, editing, updating existing provider, office, and payee records as needed and as requested. Requires review of documentation and reports, as well as acting on requests from internal and external customers.
  • Directly responsible to terminate provider, office, and payee records as requested using correct termination reason codes to determine controllable and noncontrollable terminations. Requires extensive review of documentation and reports, as well as acting on requests from internal and external customers.
  • Manage complex Retailer and Provider Group data by periodically receiving and comprehensively reviewing the provider databases and rosters and performing updates to the three (3) provider databases.
  • Directly responsible for managing "Provider Pick" and "Provider Contract" claims pend queue and providing guidance to Claims on claims processing.
  • Maintain IRS standards for Payees and utilize Tax Identification Number verifications.
  • Annually, resolve all 1099-B submissions to Versant Health
  • Support Versant Health Accounts Receivable Department with provider education on Negative Balance accounts and network suspension and reactivations
  • Educate and assist Providers and their office personnel with understanding the uses, importance, and impact of their provider data to Members and the Provider Directory
  • Educate and assist all Versant Health departments with provider data, Provider Directory questions, and various data integrity projects.
  • Review and process Provider Directory data updates received from contracted Provider Directory & Outreach vendors to ensure data accuracy; perform updates, corrections, and terminations of provider and office data.
  • Initiate and/or support provider database improvements and communication processes as needed with other departments regarding database enhancements.
  • Contact assigned providers to validate required data elements via phone and/or email.
  • Conduct peer review audits and provide feedback to reduce errors and improve processes and performance, maintaining current provider data to ensure the quality of the network, and may be responsible for representing the provider network area on department related IT projects.
What's necessary to do the job?
  • Four to Five (4-5) years of experience with a managed care organization in a Provider Data Mangement, Credentialing, Nework Management, Network Deveopment, and/or Provider Relations role
  • Combination of education and work experience required; Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Capable and comfortable dealing with Protected Health Information (PHI),Personal Identifiable Information (PII), sensitive, and confidential information with discretion and trust
  • Experience must include direct responsibility for managing provider, office and payee data and/or claims processing.
  • Experience working with provider networks and healthcare providers.
  • Knowledge and experience in CMS Provider Directory regulations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point

Position Overview:

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. + Prior experience with ETL / Data Integration tools, one or more Data platforms, and Cloud Computing Technologies and related emerging technology.

(RBAC) user and system accounts, patch Management, and maintain
Replication and Disaster Recovery (DR) Environments.

- Perform Database migration for PostgreSQL and Mongo DB databases
between various environments, including data centers and cloud
environments such as Amazon Web Services (AWS).

- Monitor all production database activity for operational
improvements, including CPU, Disk and memory, and space utilization.

- Evaluate and Perform security hardening on PostgreSQL and MongoDB
databases, including configurations related to access control,
authorizations, OS(Linux) Configuration parameters, and file system
encryption.

- Evaluate Security infractions and overall performance of databases
to develop and implement corrective measures for database
issues/problems found during monitoring.

- Analyze performance issues in the application and database tiers.

- Perform disaster recovery principles and practices, including
planning and testing backup and restore.

- Perform hands-on maintenance activities such as vacuum, and full
vacuum, and Analyze the PostgreSQL Database.

- Perform database server maintenance, including upgrades of the
PostgreSQL Database and storage management of PostgreSQL and
MongoDB.

- Perform Installation and maintenance of MongoDB database for high
availability.

- Develop SQL queries for optimal performance on PostgreSQL, create
and manage indices and develop No SQL queries on MongoDB and create
and manage indices.

- Actively participate in the deployment playbook development,
sequencing and executing batches, and monitoring system health
activities.

- Work collaboratively with developers and other database team members
to define, build consensus around, and implement enterprise systems
and application architectures to ensure performance, scalability,
maintainability, extensibility, and application integration with
external systems.

- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, data
analysts, and business stakeholders, to ensure that the database
environment meets the needs of the business, and supports the
long-term IT strategy.

- Adhere to all security, change control, and MHBE Project Management
Office (PMO) policies, processes, and methodologies.

- Note: The candidate must be flexible to work overtime as needed,
including weekends, holidays, and off-hours

Mandatory Skills:

1. A minimum of six (6) years of experience designing databases,
queries, reports, and/or providing solutions for large-scale
enterprise database requirements.

2. A minimum of four (4) years of experience in a complex environment
building complex data extractions, queries, or databases utilizing
PostgreSQL, Informatica, and MongoDB.

3. A minimum of four (4) years of experience with tools such as Bamboo,
Jenkins, Maven, Bitbucket, Jira, GIT, etc.

4. A minimum of four (4) years of experience in document management
systems.

5. A minimum of four (4) years of experience with supporting
applications in a Cloud infrastructure on AWS (Amazon Web Services)
and computing AMI virtual machines on Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2),
continuous integration (CI), and Continuous deployment (CD)
processes.

6. A minimum of four (4) years of experience monitoring production
database activities and batch jobs for operational improvements.

7. A minimum of two (2) years of experience in large-volume database
migration efforts.

8. A minimum of four (4) years of experience in PostgreSQL Server
database administration, patch management, maintenance, and/or
writing complex SQL codes, stored procedures, and performing data
extractions.

9. A minimum of four (4) years of hands-on experience with performing
database maintenance activities in production and/or lower
environments.

10. Experience with supporting installation and maintenance of databases
for high availability.

11. Strong understanding of database architecture and design, including
normalization, indexing, partitioning, and replication.

12. Experience managing and optimizing large databases, including
performance tuning and capacity planning.

13. Experience in data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing.

14. Experience in SQL complex queries and batch performance
optimizations.

Desirable Skills:

1. A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a database expert or
equivalent designing, developing, performing data extractions,
developing reports, and/or supporting federal or state-based
marketplace systems or complex health and human services systems or
applications.

2. A minimum of five (5) years of experience with processing EDI
transaction sets such as 834, 820, 999, etc.

3. A minimum of four (4) years of experience working with 270/271
Health Care Eligibility Benefit Inquiry and Response transactions.

4. A minimum of four (4) years of experience working with complex
databases, systems, and applications hosted on Amazon Web Services
(AWS).

5. A minimum of four (4) years of experience in developing and
implementing best practices, data fixes for database issues, and
problems found during performance tuning of PostgreSQL DB and
MongoDB.

6. Experience with or strong knowledge of disaster recovery principles
and practices, including planning and validating backup and
restoring database backups in production and lower environments.

7. A minimum of five (5) years of experience with Integrated
Eligibility, Affordable Care Act, or similar large Health and Human
Service enterprise level Applications.

8. Strong knowledge of Corticon implementations catering to complex
business rules.

9. Experience optimizing large databases, including performance tuning
through complex SQL queries and capacity planning.

10. Experience in data modeling, ETL processes, and EDI transaction
sets.

11. Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and SQL complex
queries designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale
databases, developing complex reports or data extractions.

12. Experience with NoSQL database or equivalent, as well as experience
in analytics tools such as Tableau, QlikSense, or Power BI.

13. Familiarity with the operations of a Health Insurance Exchange (HIX)
marketplace, including knowledge of healthcare policies, benefits
packages, plan design, eligibility, and enrollment processes and
understanding the unique data requirements and challenges of this
industry.

14. Experience working closely with business stakeholders and other data
professionals to establish governance policies and procedures,
monitor compliance, and implement data quality checks and controls.

15. Experience in developing and maintaining a data dictionary or
metadata repository and data governance program to align with best
practices and regulatory requirements.

16. Experience working with the Project Management Office (PMO)
processes, policies, and procedures.
