Labcorp is seeking a Kansas Regional Laboratory Director. This position is responsible for overseeing the hospital laboratory operations across multiple facilities within Kansas.
This role requires a combination of strong leadership and clinical expertise to ensure the laboratories operate efficiently, meet high-quality standards, and comply with regulatory requirements. The position's major responsibility is directing the day-to-day operations for six hospital laboratory operations in KS. **Job Responsibilities**
+ Provide leadership and direction for multiple laboratories within the region, ensuring consistency in operational performance, quality standards, and patient care.
+ Track key performance indicators (KPIs) across labs to monitor performance and use metrics to make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.
+ Ensure the lab operates efficiently, with a focus on optimizing workflows, reducing errors, and improving turnaround times without compromising quality.
+ Foster a collaborative environment between labs within the region, ensuring shared best practices, knowledge, and resources across locations.
+ Provide regular updates to hospital or organizational leadership about laboratory performance.
+ Build and maintain relationships with hospital and client administrators, clinicians, and hospital department staff.
+ Work closely with clinical teams and other departments ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
+ Ensure that all laboratories maintain the highest standards of clinical accuracy, reliability, and quality through routine quality control processes.
+ Ensure that all tests, instruments, and methods are properly validated or verified before use.
+ Oversee the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
+ Ensure the labs comply with all applicable local, state, and federal regulatory standards (e.g., CLIA, CAP, FDA, TJC, etc.).
+ Prepare all labs in the region for external inspections, audits, and accreditation reviews. Implement timely, robust corrective actions if issues are identified.
+ Ensure all laboratory locations have adequate staffing, and resources are allocated efficiently.
+ Manage turnover, recruitment, retention, OT, and contingent labor.
+ Evaluate current and future staffing needs with all labs including anticipating turnover, forecasting gaps, and verifying replacement needs.
+ Cultivate a strong leadership pipeline within the region by mentoring and developing current managers and supervisors to take on greater responsibilities.
+ Address significant operational issues in the laboratory quickly, effectively, and with a sense of urgency.

**Requirements**
+ Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology or a related life science
+ Minimum 10 years of clinical laboratory experience
+ Minimum 5 years of clinical laboratory experience within a management role
+ ASCP, AMT, or any other relevant laboratory certifications are preferred
+ Prior experience in a high volume, large hospital environment
+ Previous experience managing multiple locations is highly preferred
+ Strong working knowledge of expense control
+ Ability to communicate with a heavy customer focus when working with client leadership
+ Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations and quality systems
+ Strong analytical and data interpretation capabilities
+ Ability to problem solve and provide solutions under minimal supervision
+ Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office
+ Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
+ High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills
+ Prior Project Management experience is preferred
+ Ability to translate regulatory, business environment and technical understanding to action plans and create resolutions.
+ Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.

GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Sr Program Director/Branch Director, the Aquatic Director provides leadership and management for the branch Aquatics department operations, staff, budget, fundraising, as well as the program and membership experience in accordance with all Greater Wichita YMCA policies, procedures and standards.   • Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and manage a high-performing staff focused on providing exceptional service and work well as a team.

  • Maintain staff retention through positive reinforcement and support.
  • Ensure adequate lifeguard coverage of all pools during operating hours.

  • PROGRAM OPERATIONS:
  • Effectively communicate the mission, vision and values of the Wichita YMCA.
  • Ensure all programs comply with YMCA standards and methods of operation.
  • Integrate member service and engagement strategies into all programs to ensure positive member recruitment and retention.
  • Build and expand the program enrollment and participation.
  • Coordinate the Splash outreach program.
  • Keep accurate records of attendance, retention, member and non-member participation.
  • Ensure progress reports are distributed consistently to program participants.
  • Monitor and evaluate delivery and effectiveness of programs and staff for the highest possible level of quality.
  • Be visible to staff and members.
  • Respond to all member and community inquiries and concerns within 24 hours.
  • Communicate program information, changes and needs in a timely manner to supervisor and branch staff.

  • FISCAL MANAGEMENT:
  • Develop, monitor and meet or exceed budget targets.
  • Produce effective and efficient staff schedules within set payroll budget parameters.

  • STRONG COMMUNITY CAMPAIGN | FINANCIAL DEVELOPMENT:
  • Provide leadership for assigned aspects of Strong Community Campaign, special events and other fund development to ensure fundraising goals are met.

  • FACILITIES DEVELOPMENT:
  • Maintain complete familiarity with all risk management procedures and policies.
  • Monitor daily pool operations to adhere to all state and local health and safety regulations.
  • Organize, plan and schedule pools for instructional and recreational activities.
  • Maintain program area and equipment in an orderly, clean and safe condition. Report any irregularities to maintenance personnel.
  • Keep an up-to-date inventory on all equipment, materials and supplies.

  • OTHER:
  • Serve as a member of the branch management team, performing specific duties that support the overall success of branch operations.
  • Communicate information promptly to all branch leadership and departmental staff.
  • Attend applicable training and conferences to further professional development.

    The Medical Director, working together with a coder (DRG Integrity Specialist), will review inpatient charts to ensure the acuity and complexity of the patient's hospital stay is appropriately captured in the clinical documentation and translated into coding. The Medical Director is responsible for capturing the true clinical picture in a manner compliant with federal laws and the healthcare organization's information privacy practices through identification of coding and physician query opportunities. The Medical Director is responsible for overseeing every chart assigned to their team.

    The Medical Director works with the DRG Integrity Specialist to confirm the principal diagnosis and the appropriate Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) of every case in compliance with coding guidelines. This process also involves the Medical Director confirming procedures, dates, and complication or comorbidity (CC) or major complication or comorbidity (MCC) when used as a secondary diagnosis.

    The Medical Director validates clinical indicators for coded diagnoses, capturing the patient's condition and ensuring the accuracy of the severity of illness and risk of mortality for the patient to illustrate the true clinical picture of the episode of care.

    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide clinical leadership in an inter-disciplinary team in a professional, knowledgeable, and efficient manner to drive client results, exceed client expectations, and foster client confidence
    • Maintain a functional and collaborative relationship with the DRG Integrity Specialist to achieve shared company goals
    • Comply with medical and federal guidelines at all times
    • Resolve conflicts quickly and professionally
    • Stays up to date with medical guidelines, advancements within his or her field, and client-specific criteria
    • Responsible for the quality of their teams work by developing and implementing strategic goals related to quality improvement within the tower
    • Responsible for generating compliant queries based on appropriate clinical indicators for each diagnosis. Every query must meet all regulatory and reporting requirements
    • Work with their manager to review tower analytics, identifying trends and actionable steps to improve opportunity capture rate and drive results for clients
    • Work with Senior Management and Compliance Officer to adhere to organizational goals and mission
    • Participate in corporate educational activities
    • Utilize all technology, tools and resources to enhance performance and will be proficient in navigation of various electronic medical records
    • Excel in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment

    Position Overview:

    As a Program Director at Galen College of Nursing, you will provide engaged leadership with the development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement of the educational program in accordance with the laws and rules of all applicable state and federal regulatory and accrediting bodies in response to identified industry and community needs.

    Students

    c. Identifies the resources required to provide student services that are commensurate with the needs of nursing students, including those receiving instruction using alternative methods of delivery.

    d. Ensures the implementation of policies and procedure that allows program complaints and grievances to receive due process and include evidence of resolution; implements strategies for continuous improvement based on the evaluation of complaints and grievances.

    e. Ensures that orientation to technology is provided and that technological support is available to students.

    Curriculum

    a. Facilitates the faculty in their development of the curriculum and its regular review to ensure integrity, rigor, and currency; ensures that accreditation standards and criteria are used as they relate to curriculum.

    b. Ensures that practice learning environments support the achievement of student learning outcomes and program outcomes.

    c. Facilitates faculty to ensure that learning activities, instructional materials, and evaluation methods are appropriate for all delivery formats and consistent with the student learning outcomes.

    Resources

    a. Identifies fiscal, physical, and learning resources for the achievement of the student learning outcomes and program outcomes.

    b. Identifies the fiscal, physical, technological, and learning resources required to meet the needs of the faculty and students engaged in alternative methods of delivery.

    Governance

    a. Participates in governance activities; facilitates faculty and student representatives in their participation in governance activities.

    b. Facilitates the implementation of recommendations made by communities of interest regarding program processes and decision making.

    c. Orients and mentors program leaders or support staff to their role

    Position Requirements:

    • Education: Graduate Degree in Nursing, Doctorate Preferred (Program Directors should be strongly encouraged to enroll in a Doctoral program to support both personal and professional growth which aligns with the Colleges mission and strategic planning)
    • Active, Current, Unencumbered Licensure: Applicable state as a Registered Nurse and per the State Board of Nursing

    a. Ensures that students and graduates have achieved the student learning outcomes, program outcomes, and role-specific graduate competencies.
    b. Facilitates faculty in the implementation of systematic plan for evaluation.
    c. Ensures that aggregated and trended evaluation findings are used to inform decision making for the maintenance and improvement of the student learning outcomes and program outcomes; shares these findings with communities of interest.
    d. Assumes responsibility for the oversight of programmatic accreditation; is vested with the administrative authority to accomplish the program's mission, goals, and expected program outcomes; and provides effective supervision and leadership for the academic nursing unit to achieve its mission, goals, and expected program outcomes.
    e. Fosters an educational environment that supports the students, graduates, and faculty in their pursuit of life-long learning.
    Faculty
    a. Ensures that the number of faculty is sufficient to achieve the student learning outcomes and program outcomes.
    b. Identifies the resources required for faculty (full- and part-time) to maintain expertise in their areas of responsibility.
    c. Ensures that faculty are academically prepared for the areas in which they teach, maintain expertise in their areas of responsibility, and that their performance reflects scholarship and evidence-based teaching and clinical practices. Ensures that faculty (full- and part-time) are oriented and mentored in their areas of responsibility.
    d. Oversees the systematic assessment of faculty (full- and part-time) performance; develops a plan with the faculty when areas for improvement are identified.
    e. Ensures that faculty engage in on-going development and receive support for instructional and distance technologies.
    f. Screens and interviews faculty applicants, recommends faculty prior to hire to the Dean, and actively mentors faculty in the Rank & Promotion process.
    g. Collaborates with faculty and the Dean to create and maintain an environment conducive to teaching and learning, scholarship, and service, including oversight of faculty assignments, scheduling, and workload.
    h. Acts as a leadership role model who inspires a sense of college community and motivates positive values in all interactions.
    Students
    a. Participates in the development of policies for nursing students, ensuring that they are congruent with the College, publicly accessible, and non-discriminatory.
    b. Ensures the appropriate application of student policies and the correct implementation of related procedures by faculty.
    c. Identifies the resources required to provide student services that are commensurate with the needs of nursing students, including those receiving instruction using alternative methods of delivery.
    d. Ensures the implementation of policies and procedure that allows program complaints and grievances to receive due process and include evidence of resolution; implements strategies for continuous improvement based on the evaluation of complaints and grievances.
    e. Ensures that orientation to technology is provided and that technological support is available to students.
    Curriculum
    a. Facilitates the faculty in their development of the curriculum and its regular review to ensure integrity, rigor, and currency; ensures that accreditation standards and criteria are used as they relate to curriculum.
    b. Ensures that practice learning environments support the achievement of student learning outcomes and program outcomes.
    c. Facilitates faculty to ensure that learning activities, instructional materials, and evaluation methods are appropriate for all delivery formats and consistent with the student learning outcomes.
    Resources
    a. Identifies fiscal, physical, and learning resources for the achievement of the student learning outcomes and program outcomes.
    b. Identifies the fiscal, physical, technological, and learning resources required to meet the needs of the faculty and students engaged in alternative methods of delivery.
    Governance
    a. Participates in governance activities; facilitates faculty and student representatives in their participation in governance activities.
    b. Facilitates the implementation of recommendations made by communities of interest regarding program processes and decision making.
    c. Orients and mentors program leaders or support staff to their role
    d. Maintains authority and shared responsibility with the Dean for the development and administration of the nursing program.
    e. Engages in the preparation and administration of the program budget; ensures faculty input.
    f. Participates in the development of policies for nursing faculty and staff to ensure that they are comprehensive and provide for the welfare of faculty and staff.
    g. Creates and submits reports and documentation to appropriate regulatory agencies, accrediting bodies, and State Boards of Nursing.
    Position Requirements:
    + Education: Graduate Degree in Nursing, Doctorate Preferred (Program Directors should be strongly encouraged to enroll in a Doctoral program to support both personal and professional growth which aligns with the College's mission and strategic planning)
    + Active, Current, Unencumbered Licensure: Applicable state as a Registered Nurse and per the State Board of Nursing
    + Teaching experience in a pre-licensure nursing program
    + Degree of Supervision: Minimal
    + Physical/Mental Demands and Work Environment: Position requires critical thinking, reading, planning, preparing, evaluating, and decision making. Physical demands in the classroom and office are minimal and are considered sedentary work with occasional lifting and/or carrying articles such as records, files, and books (10 pounds maximum). Operation of standard office equipment such as phone, computer, classroom projector, Scantron, and printer/scanner occurs on a frequent basis. Physical demands in the clinical area may include lifting, pulling, pushing, kneeling, stooping, crouching, bending, or any other related activity.
