Position Description:
Responsible for all aspects of the Pharmacy Department. Supervises the technical/clinical staff, performs administrative duties, prepares and maintains operating and capital budgets for the Pharmacy. Responsible for demonstrating an expertise in clinical pharmacy practice and is able to serve as a resource in the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients in the acute care setting.
Job Duties:
- Develops, implements, and achieves business goals by effectively planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing all pharmacy service programs to provide efficient and effective systems.
- Manages drug utilization and medication use processes including prescribing, dispensing, administering, managing clinical programs, and monitoring patient outcomes to ensure patient safety.
- Prepares and manages departmental budget and is responsible for expense and revenue performance. Effectively monitors and controls the purchasing and inventory management processes.
- Maintains awareness of developments in pharmacy and health care that relate to job responsibilities and integrates them into their practice.
- Participates in the quality improvement and medication use review activities of the department. Collects data, conducts inspections, and maintains logs and other documentation as assigned.
- Supervises and directs pharmacy support personnel. Verifies the daily activities of pharmacy technicians. Verifies the accuracy of all orders, IV admixtures and chemotherapy prepared by the technician.
- Supports the pharmacy’s pharmacoeconomic efforts. Reviews the use of targeted medications for compliance with current pharmacoeconomic programs.

The Site Medical Director serves as the responsible Physician and health authority required by national standards in a correctional environment. They provide overall supervision for clinical services for the site to ensure appropriate delivery of on and off site necessary medical care.
MEDICAL DIRECTOR / PHYSICIAN ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Consult with medical providers in the community to resolve issues in delivering services to patients.
- Supervise the clinical services provided by the professional and paraprofessional staff.
- Ensure and provide on-call services.
- Annually review and approve clinical protocols, policies and procedures, and medical disaster plans.
- Manage referrals to outside healthcare facilities for appropriateness, quality, and continuity of care.
- Sponsor Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners in compliance with the state law for correctional facilities.
- Serve as a resource to all staff Physicians and applicable clinical staff at the facility(s).
- Assist in screening, interviewing, evaluating credentials, and hiring of healthcare providers.
- Participate in in-service training classes.
- Represent the healthcare program in discussions with local civic groups or visiting officials as requested.
- Attend medical, clinical and other meetings, as required.
- Complete sick call, chronic care and infirmary care as required.
- Document all encounters in patient's medical record.
- Ensure all documentation is timed, legible and signed.
- Ensure all verbal or telephone orders are countersigned as required.

The position is responsible for reviewing and optimizing the group purchasing organization's contract portfolio; and developing and executing product standardization with the value analysis committees. The Clinical Resource Director has a broad enterprise and segment influence and will need to build strategic alliances with Hospital Leadership, Physicians and Supply Chain to execute successfully the clinical supply expense plan. The position requires confidence, independent action, initiative, a sense of urgency, and the ability to make and to take responsibility for their decisions. A well-suited candidate will react, adjust quickly and develop actions during changing conditions.
What you will do in this role includes:
- Develops and implements facility or division-based strategies and processes to reduce supply expense per adjusted admission
- Identifies and implements supply expense margin improvement with a primary focus on high cost of good departments to include surgical services, Cath lab, ep lab and special procedures
- Identifies facility(s) supply expense variances and develops action plans to mitigate an increase in supply expense; and participates in monthly operating reports and supply expense planning
- Participates, develops content and facilitates value analysis meetings such as facility based, division based, service line or physician led meetings
- Utilizes clinical product value analysis committees to review products and technology for clinical evidence and benefit; discuss financial considerations to include contract compliance, cost and reimbursement; identify opportunities to standardize products and reduce waste; and maintain or increases product quality and patient outcomes
- Builds relationships and increases customer satisfaction with hospital leadership, chief medical officer, clinical directors, physicians, value analysis teams and supply chain leadership
- Develops relationships and collaborates with facility leadership and staff, physicians, and supply chain to identify, develop and implement continuous quality improvement and cost containment processes for supplies, technology and labor practice
What qualifications you will need:
- Bachelor's degree required (Business, Health Administration, Nursing, Pharmacy or other Allied Health Profession) with related experiences in healthcare value analysis, clinical supply chain, or acute care hospital performance - Required
- Master's degree highly preferred
- Three to five years of value analysis/clinical/hospital leadership experience preferred
- LPN/RN, Certified Materials and Resource Professional (CMRP), Certified Value Analysis Health Professional (CVAHP), or similar credential preferred

- Annually review and approve clinical protocols, policies and procedures, and medical disaster plans.
- Manage referrals to outside healthcare facilities for appropriateness, quality, and continuity of care.
- Sponsor Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners in compliance with the state law for correctional facilities.
- Serve as a resource to all staff Physicians and applicable clinical staff at the facility(s).
- Assist in screening, interviewing, evaluating credentials, and hiring of healthcare providers.
- Participate in in-service training classes.
- Represent the healthcare program in discussions with local civic groups or visiting officials as requested.
- Attend medical, clinical and other meetings, as required.
- Complete sick call, chronic care and infirmary care as required.
- Document all encounters in patient's medical record.

The ideal candidate should have a high level of clinical expertise, providing exceptional care to children, adolescents and families using evidence-based treatments. Experience in the development and administration of clinical, research and/or educational programs is highly desirable.
The new Chief will have a strong record of clinical and academic leadership in child neurology and will support all three missions of the department: clinical, education and research within a fundamental philosophy that we will achieve greater success by working together as a team as opposed to working as individuals. Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the new Section Chief will include maintaining clinical practice in child neurology, supporting the education of fellows, residents and medical students, providing mentorship to early career faculty, and expanding the research portfolio of the division. The new chief will provide patient care in the outpatient pediatric Neurology clinic, attend inpatient rounds, provide call coverage, and offer oversight and mentorship for adult and pediatric Neurology residents, fellows and medical students on rotation. Engagement in clinical research is strongly encouraged.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have an outstanding clinical reputation and a proven record as a clinical leader with at least 5 years post residency/fellowship experience and be board certified in Neurology with special qualification in Child Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. They will have an academic background with a focus on building a top reputation clinical program.
A successful candidate should possess the following qualifications:
- An MD, DO, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree; they will have completed a residency in child neurology and will be expected to qualify for appointment at the rank of an Associate Professor or Professor at Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University.
- Exceptional leadership record at a top-ranked medical school, academic health center (preferred) or health system, and, ideally, experience working in an interdisciplinary environment.
