Job Details

The CDL Driver is responsible for ensuring Micro's customers receive the desired product in a timely manner and ensuring the continued flow of products entering and leaving the warehouse. This position will work in conjunction with all Animal Health personnel to include management, administration, accounting and sales.

Location: Territory across Indiana

Responsibilities:

  • Drive truck to designated location then loads and unloads supplies, and equipment as directed by bill of ladings and customer orders
  • Unload and check in all trucks with incoming product upon arrival to warehouse
  • Inspect truck equipment, supplies, such as fifth wheel, tire, lights, brakes, diesel, oil, and water for defects, before and after trips
  • Maintain vehicle upkeep by performing general maintenance and addressing safety concerns including:
  • Report all discrepancies and safety concerns to Warehouse Manager.
  • Report all needed major repairs to leasing company and Warehouse Manager.
  • Performs emergency roadside repairs
  • Ensures cargo is secure during transit
  • Maintain accurate driving records and follows all regulations including:
  • DOT and Hazmat regulations and procedures
  • Daily log
  • Inspection reports
  • Cargo loads
  • Customer receipts
  • Follows all procedures as detailed in the Delivery Specialist Procedure Manual.
  • Maintains constant communication with Warehouse Manager to receive delivery instructions and to report any delivery discrepancies.
  • Responsible for maintaining inventory including:
  • Taking inventory at customer's site and determine customer's needs
  • Maintain and order inventory warehouse on a weekly basis
  • Maintain a clean and orderly warehouse
  • Provide customer service and assist with answering warehouse phones as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience and Educational Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is desired.
  • Six months to a year related experience is preferred.
  • Must have a valid CDL class A license.
  • Hazmat endorsement and forklift experience preferred
  • Adequate mobility to continually walk and stand; pull orders from various shelf heights; and ability to lift up to 35 lbs regularly and 50 lbs on occasion is required.
  • Occasionally will move 100 lbs from pallet to pallet.
  • Must be able to read and understand English, have basic mathematical skills, number recognition skills, and good hand/eye coordination.
  • Good customer service skills and a sense of urgency are required.
  • Computer knowledge is helpful.
  • Must be available for on-call rotation.

Work Environment:

This position will work in both a warehouse environment as well as at customer sites, including feedlots and dairies. In such an environment the position will be frequently exposed to extreme heat, extreme cold, temperature changes, humidity, and noise.

Physical Requirements:

This position will constantly require heavy work including standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, hearing, and eye/hand/foot coordination. Frequently requires climbing, stooping, kneeling, talking, and repetitive motions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • High School Diploma / GED preferred.

As our Local CDL Driver, your main responsibility will be to deliver pool products safely and efficiently to customers' businesses or job sites. Enjoy the convenience of operating within a maximum radius of your home branch, with deliveries starting and ending at the branch-meaning no overnight stays! Embrace a stable Monday to Friday schedule and seize opportunities for overtime during peak seasons.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Always prioritize safety!
  • Comply with all DOT regulations while operating a commercial vehicle
  • Load, unload, and stage orders in a warehouse or job site environment
  • Deliver to customer sites and branch locations, unloading products as needed
  • Understand and adhere to FMCSA regulations
  • Perform additional related duties, such as stocking, order entry, shipping, receiving, and more
  • Maintain delivery, truck, and driving records by obtaining signed delivery receipts, recording tracking information, and completing driver log and truck performance forms
Requirements:
  • Valid CDL License
  • Hazmat Endorsement Required
  • Safe driving record with no hit & runs or DWI/DUI convictions within the last three years; accidents and/or severe violations in the last year will be reviewed by HR and Management
  • Prior commercial driving experience and knowledge of DOT & OSHA safety regulations are a plus
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Forklift experience is helpful
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds on a repetitive basis
  • Able to pass a background check, pre-employment drug test and DOT physical

I. Job Summary

Safely operates a heavy-duty truck to perform assigned duties on transfer routes.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

  • Operates vehicle in accordance with Occupational and Safety Health Act (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements as well as all local, state and federal requirements and Company expectations for the Fleet; maintains a clean and safe vehicle.

  • Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle using utilizing standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report); notes all issues on DVIR form for corrective review/repair.

  • Immediately reports any unsafe situations or service calls to Route Manager or Dispatch before attempting service.

  • Participates and cooperates in all scheduled training, briefings, and meetings as required by Route Manager.

  • Works closely with Route Managers to improve route efficiencies and identify problem or unsafe accounts.

  • Performs all duties as scheduled by Route Manager or Dispatch, assisting other company drivers as directed.

  • Notifies Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage.

  • Notifies Dispatch or Route Manager of issues as prescribed by Service Machine protocol, including blocked containers, potential missed pick-ups or problems that arise on the route.

  • Communicates customer requests or issues to Dispatch or Route Manager.

  • Completely dumps all containers and leaves the customer's location clean and free of debris.

  • Completes and submits customer tickets when excess yardage must be removed.

  • Positions containers on the customer's property in a manner that ensures lids are properly replaced, containers are set in an upright position, and containers do not block driveway entrances or traffic.

  • Follows route assignments throughout the day and completes all documentation when checking-in at the end of the route.

IV. Qualifications

A. Education and Experience

  • Education: None required.

  • Experience: No prior work experience required.

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

  • Commercial Drivers License B (CDL).

  • The CDL is a requirement, therefore, an applicant must be 18 years of age.

  • Successfully complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, and background check, which will include previous employment check, and motor vehicle record review.

  • Acceptable driving record required.
