A Day in The Life of a Truck Driver

As a Truck Driver you will be responsible for transporting cargo to and from specified destinations. You will prepare, receive, and provide appropriate documentation for the delivery or pick-up of goods to ensure timely service. * Must have a "satisfactory" driving record. Requires applicable truck driver license for state.

THIS POSITION REQUIRES AN ENLISTMENT IN THE U.S. ARMY OR ARMY RESERVE

As a Motor Transport Operator, you'll play an important part of the Army's transportation logistics team. You'll supervise and operate wheeled vehicles over all types of terrain to safely transport cargo, troops, and provide advanced mobility on all missions. You'll manage loading, unloading, and report any vehicle problems or damage.

Skills you'll learn align with Vehicle Operations, Loading & Unloading and Map Reading. In addition, you could earn 17 nationally recognized certifications!

Job Summary

Truck Driver is responsible for the operation of commercial vehicles in excess of 26,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight, to deliver goods to customers and operations, and to pick up material from vendors and other operations.

Pay Range: $30 per hour plus OT.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Safely drives on the road delivering products in various weather conditions
• Completes pre-trip and post-trip inspection sheets
• Inspects equipment to ensure safe operating conditions - checks oil and fuel prior to leaving the yard
• Secures load and/or inspects load to ensure has been properly secured
• Performs duties consistent with all applicable safety, DOT and Company rules
• Conducts preventive maintenance to truck and ensures truck is clean
• Maintains appropriate driving records, logs, and shipping documents as required
• Maintains radio/telephone and EOB Electronic On-Board System contact with base or supervisor to receive instructions or to be dispatched to new locations
• Verifies shipping documents for accuracy, and obtains customer's signature on paperwork upon delivery
• Completes paperwork as required
• May operate a forklift to load/unload trailers as required
• Follows forklift rules and policies as described by Company policy
• Completes training as required by management
• Participates in safety, CI and other programs and meetings
• Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age
• Minimum 12th grade basic education completed
• Minimum 1 year of experience driving a commercial vehicle in excess of 26,000 lbs. Preferable 3 to 5 years of experience driving a commercial vehicle
• Working knowledge of vehicle parts, and how to handle minor repairs to ensure equipment is in proper operating conditions
• Required to have a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License
• Successful completion of forklift driver licensing process

We are seeking an experienced and professional Truck Driver to join our team. In this role, you will transport a variety of goods and materials from one location to another. You will plan the most efficient route, ensure adherence to delivery schedules, and perform routine vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance. **Primary Purpose**
Load, securement and operate all CDL type vehicles in the Transportation Fleet including tractor trailers, tankers, oversized and permitted vehicles within the service territory. Assist the Equipment Operator in vehicle operation and associated rigging work for Material Delivery work.
**Primary Duties**
+ Flexibility in reporting to remote work locations within the PECO Energy system
+ Available for shift work as required
+ Available for off-hours work opportunities
+ Basic rigging techniques for lifting equipment and materials onto vehicles to deliver to various locations
+ Understands the proper method of securing different types of material to be loaded and transported
+ Successful candidate is expected to have the ability to progress to Equipment Operator should business needs require
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Three to five years experience in tractor/trailer driving experience and working with heavy equipment
+ Class A CDL license with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements
+ Experience working around or near energized equipment
+ OSHA Forklift certified or the ability to become OSHA Forklift certified
+ One to three years experience with basic rigging techniques for the lifting of equipment and materials onto vehicles for delivery to various location
+ One to three years experience using the proper method of securing different types of material to be loaded and transported on flatbed trailers
+ Working knowledge of boom trucks, and tractor-trailers
