POSITION SUMMARY

The Chicago School seeks an innovative and strategic Associate Director of Academic Support and Learning to lead national academic support initiatives for faculty, staff, and students. This role will oversee strategic direction for teaching and learning initiatives, academic skill development, and writing programs across the institution. The Associate Director will also serve as the Coordinator of the Office of Student Writing and Learning (OSWL) , ensuring high-quality writing support services and resources are available to students nationwide.

Reporting to the University Librarian, the Associate Director will collaborate closely with faculty, administrators, and other institutional stakeholders to enhance academic skill development programs and contribute to the long-term vision of the OSWL. This position is remote/hybrid , with occasional travel to campus locations as needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership & Program Oversight

  • Provide strategic oversight of national student academic skill development initiatives for students in its four colleges.
  • Oversee and expand OSWL programming to support the evolving needs of a diverse student population.

Operational Management & Evaluation
  • Hire, train, and supervise writing specialists and peer tutors as needed.
  • Oversee scheduling, data collection, and outcome reporting for OSWL services.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Institutional Research to evaluate program effectiveness and establish key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and adhere to institutional policies.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree required in English, writing, rhetoric, education, psychology, library and information science or a related field (PhD preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in higher education academic support, teaching, or learning center leadership.
  • Experience managing or leading virtual teams.
  • Strong familiarity with APA and AMA writing style and formatting.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching academic and/or professional writing to diverse student populations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in a teaching and learning center or academic support role.
  • Knowledge of writing across the curriculum (WAC) and writing in the disciplines (WID) frameworks.
  • Proficiency with academic technology platforms, including SharePoint, Canvas, LibGuides, Libcal, and Writing Assistant Tools (like Grammarly or Writefull).
  • A proven ability to develop and evaluate co-curricular learning support programs .


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

**Responsibilities:**
The College Center for Advising Services (CCAS) is a centralized academic advising office staffed by a team of dedicated professional advisors whose work is designed to support the academic success of undergraduates in the College. This position provides leadership within CCAS and plays a key role in developing and maintaining policies, goals, strategies, and procedures necessary to administer a comprehensive advising program. The position supervises the equivalent of at least 3.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees and leads one or more major operations of CCAS, including but not limited to developing and leading the Time Away program and serving as the CCAS representative to the College CARE Team. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision and Leadership
- Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, training, conducting performance appraisals, developing and overseeing staff performance plans, and/or approving hours worked by employees.
- Leads one or more major operations of CCAS and plans and directs staff implementation of related programs and other events.
- Serves as a member of the CCAS Core leadership team.

Description of Work Unit
The Department of Communication Studies at Colorado State University currently teaches more than 350 undergraduate majors and 30 graduate students. The graduate program offers a nationally recognized MA and Ph.D. The program offers education in three broad areas 1) film and media, 2) relational and organizational communication, and 3) rhetoric and civic engagement. We employ nearly 25 faculty members and six support staff. The department houses the Colorado State University Center for Public Deliberation ( and hosts the Act Human Rights Film Festival (actfilmest.org). The department is committed to the professional and personal growth of all of its members, offering robust support for professional development and a willingness to negotiate working conditions. Position Summary
The Department of Communication Studies has a nationally recognized graduate program that offers the MA and PhD degrees in Communication and has approximately 30-36 students in residence. Additionally, the department has one of the larger undergraduate majors in the College of Liberal Arts and offers two minors. The Academic Programs Support Coordinator ( APSC ) will work with the Chair and the Directors of Graduate and Undergraduate Studies to recruit, retain, and assist with programming for students in our academic programs.

As a Academic Clinical Support Liaison at Galen College of Nursing you will provide ongoing administrative support of clinical education for students and clinical sites in collaboration with the Dean, Program Director, Director of Clinical Education, and/or Clinical Education Manager, as well as faculty to ensure quality and continuity in the achievement of program outcomes.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Maintain confidential information.
+ Maintain and update clinical agency contracts and clinical partner information.
+ Track requests for clinical rotations with clinical affiliates.
+ Provide ongoing administrative support to the Director of Clinical Education, Dean, or designee in relation to clinical affiliates.
+ Collect required clinical documents and maintain student clinical files.
+ Ensure that proper documentation of requirements has been completed for each student's clinical experience.
+ Schedule background checks for clinical requirements, as needed.
+ Assist with coordination of clinical experiences which meet educational requirements for students in all nursing courses and program options.
+ Assist with coordination of schedules and student rosters for clinical groups.
+ Maintain an electronic database for the coordination and assignment of faculty workload as it pertains to clinical consistent with curriculum and human resource requirements.
+ Adhere to and ensure clinical affiliate deadlines are met for required clinical documentation.
+ Visit clinical agency partners as needed to coordinate scheduling and student documentation requirements.
+ Maintain a positive work environment that supports quality programming in the achievement of program outcomes.
**Position Requirements:**
**Education:** Bachelor's degree (preferred) with knowledge that includes an understanding of the educational objectives and experience of student nurses, an understanding of the clinical practice of nursing, knowledge of the diverse organizational environments in which nurses practice, and knowledge of the types of clinical sites needed to meet course content and objectives.
**Experience:** At least two (2) years of administrative support experience. Strong customer services skills.
