Amerlux, a pioneer in the lighting industry for over 35 years, is seeking a Design Engineer, with 2 to 3 years of experience to join our Engineering team in our Oakland, NJ office. This position is on-site at our office in Oakland, NJ four days per week and remote one day per week.

The Design Engineer is a part of the Design Engineering Team in a fast-paced and growing global Lighting industry. The position reports directly to Director of Engineering, Point Source and Exterior working closely with the Design/R&D Team to execute assigned New Product Development and Product Variants, Variant Projects and Value Engineering Projects from concept to production.

Job Responsibilities Include:

• Produce part drawing, project proposal drawings per specification to drafting standards.
• Build prototypes for design development, samples for customer approvals and samples for lab testing with minimal supervision. UL Listing (working with R&D lab and UL liaison).
• Product Documentation including: Bills of Material Structure; working with Engineering Administrator to develop models in Oracle ERP system; assembly documentation; installation sheets and help generate specification data sheet.
• Work closely with customer service on the projects.
• Design concept development from design brief or variant data form or project specifications and carry all the way through to production.
• Complete value engineering assignments to assist Company in meeting cost savings and product enhancement goals. Assist with first article inspection and approval process.
• Other duties as deemed priority and appropriate by the Company and management.

• B.S. Industrial Design or Mechanical Engineering, preferred and/or equivalent work/design experience.
• Fundamental of Lighting or Lighting application courses by IES is plus.
• 2 - 3 years engineering experience.
• Minimum 1 years at a lighting/LED manufacturer.
• Fluent in 2D and 3D design software: Autodesk Inventor 3D required.
• MS Word, Excel Adobe and CNC Software knowledge a plus.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Engineering Technician – Civil/Site is a mid-level position with 1-3 years of experience. This individual will provide engineering services on all phases of an assigned project under the supervision of the Project Manager. This candidate will work in and around the surrounding area of Toms River.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

• Perform and/or oversee civil/site design for a variety of projects including parks, municipal infrastructure, athletic facilities, schools/colleges/universities, industrial and commercial developments.
• Prepare NJDEP Department of Land Use Regulation permit applications as required by project scope.
• Perform hydrologic/hydraulic modeling as required for land development, roadway and culvert/bridge projects.
• Responsible for scope, schedule and budget adherence to assigned tasks.
• Operate under limited supervision.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite of software including, but not limited to Word Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Job Description

The Design Engineer plays a crucial role in the design and evaluation of production processes for both new and existing products and systems, aiming to improve cost, performance, or facilitate manufacturing processes. Utilizing the fundamental principles of mechanical, electrical, industrial, and other engineering disciplines, the Design Engineer supports existing products in collaboration with the manufacturing and operations team to implement remedies, updates, or modifications. This role involves designing specialized fluid control components using computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) tools to meet customer requests and collaborating to generate assembly drawings, models, bills of materials, design analysis, reports, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Design fluid control components using CADD tools to meet customer specifications.

• Collaborate with designers, suppliers, and other departmental assignees to gather technical information and develop design solutions.

• Participate hands-on in the test laboratory and design validation activities as needed.

• Work with Sales and Engineering management to develop technical specifications for fluid control devices.

Position Summary: The Design Engineer will be responsible for engineering development and design of products that meet technical specifications and achieve cost and schedule objectives. The Design Engineer will strive to create designs that encompass manufacturability and assembly simplicity while including usage of standard materials and general manufacturing tolerances. This may also entail being the technical leader of specific projects utilizing accurate MO's. This position will interface with other engineering resources and the functional areas of sales, production, quality, and purchasing/materials.

Job Responsibilities:

• Create 3D model geometry and associated mechanical and A&E drawings.
• Assist in improvement of product designs and overall finished product quality.
• Assist in Customer meetings, conference calls, and site visits, as required.
• Provide fabrication and construction oversight.
• Assume engineering lead role for the development of components and sub-systems.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
