What You’ll Do as a Civil Engineering Technician
- Assist in the design and preparation of engineering drawings, plans, and specifications for energy-related projects, including solar farms, wind farms, hydroelectric plants, oil and gas pipelines, electric transmission lines and other renewable and traditional energy systems.
- Partner with civil engineers and multidisciplinary teams to analyze data, perform engineering calculations, and develop models that support design decisions and project evaluations.
- Assist in environmental impact assessments and permit applications to ensure compliance with regulations and environmental standards.
- Leverage CAD and/or MicroStation software to develop, refine, and update detailed engineering drawings and plans with precision and accuracy.
- Perform comprehensive civil site design, including site layout and development, infrastructure evaluation, environmental considerations, grading and drainage design, and preparation of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP).
- Execute routine engineering design activities under the direction of project engineers, ensuring accuracy and alignment with overall project objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in testing procedures and equipment such as gradations, proctors, nuclear density gauges, DCP field testing, sand cone density testing, field concrete testing, and concrete cylinder testing.
- Conduct field testing and observations of construction materials, including concrete, soils, aggregate, masonry, asphalt, and reinforcing steel.
- Communicate with project managers, clients, and contractors at work sites.
- Additional miscellaneous assignments on an as-needed basis.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Pursuing an Engineering, Geology, Environmental, or a related degree.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Ability to frequently lift and carry 30-50 pounds.
Pay Transparency
Base compensation is expected to be in the range of $20 - $21 per hour. The selected candidate must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
Work Environment
This job primarily operates primary in a field environment in outdoor conditions, on construction sites with uneven ground and adverse weather conditions. This role secondary operates in an office environment and uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
