**Position Overview:**
With minimal supervision, supports environmental health and workplace safety programs to maintain and promote a healthy and safe environment for staff, volunteers, patients and visitors that will reduce the financial risks associated with injuries and illnesses. Inspects and surveys areas and activities to minimize potential risks, and investigates incidents. Participates in the development, implementation and maintenance of safety policies and procedures, and provides education and/or training to help staff understand and comply with the requirements of the environmental health & workplace safety programs.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
WORKPLACE SAFETY
- Audits, inspects, surveys and evaluates work environment, work procedures and hazards to identify and address unsafe work environment conditions, and recommends corrective action plan as needed.
- Monitors compliance with policies and procedures, and regulatory and legally required health and safety regulations, and recommends actions to correct deficiencies when necessary.
- Investigates illnesses and injuries, determines and evaluates cause, and recommends actions to enhance safety and minimize risk.
- Reviews and analyzes data related to workplace safety, injuries and illnesses, identifies trends and patterns, and determines where proactive safety and/or preventative measures are needed.
- Provides support and assistance to site/department safety representatives.
INSPECTIONS AND COMPLIANCE
- Serves as the point-of-contact for on-site inspections and/or accreditation and licensing surveys, providing information as requested.
- Assists affiliate and/or department with citations, initiating appeals process when warranted.
- Reviews compliance/inspection reports, recommends actions to close or address gaps, and monitors progress toward full compliance.
- Completes mandatory reporting requirements, submitting reports timely.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
- Promotes awareness and best practices through specific internal communications and training programs.
- Assesses and identifies organizational or departmental training needs,
- Develops, updates, coordinates and/or conducts training programs.
PROGRAM SUPPORT
- Reviews and analyzes legislative and regulatory changes, evaluates implications and impacts, and recommends policy changes.
- Chairs and/or participates on various health and safety-related committees and task forces, collaborating with leadership and members in planning and updating the Emergency Management Program.
- Chairs and/or participates on various health and safety-related committees and task forces, collaborating with leadership and members in planning and updating the Hazardous Materials and Waste Program.
- Coordinates the review of audits, inspections, citations, and selected incidents, collaborating with appropriate committees and department to address issues and deficiencies.
- May represent the organization/affiliate on community task forces convened to prepare and promote disaster/emergency management activities.
- May work with departments on issues related to facility access and/or compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

ERM is hiring a motivated hands-on Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Consultant to join our growing Performance & Assurance technical team in Sunnyvale, California .  This position is expected to involve working a minimum of 3 days on-site. This is a full-time (40 hours a week) limited-term role with a duration of 4 months , renewable.

The ideal candidate will have experience developing and supporting implementation of Cal/OSHA requirements, Standard Operating Procedures, Job Hazard Analysis/ Risk Assessments, Emergency Response Plans, Behavioral Safety Programs and Contractor Safety Management.  Candidates should also have familiarity with research laboratory safety requirements, waste management (hazardous, non-hazardous, universal/ electronic), environmental reporting (HMBPs), and chemical safety requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform compliance audits to assess client compliance with applicable health and safety or environmental regulatory requirements, client standards, or management systems.

• Support our clients’ desire to improve safety performance by providing training, field coaching, and targeted EHS assessments.

• Identify follow-up corrective actions to close audit findings.

ERM is hiring a motivated hands-on Senior Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Consultant to join our growing Performance & Assurance technical team in Sunnyvale, California .  This position is expected to involve working a minimum of 3 days on-site.  This is a fixed-term, full-time role (40 hours a week) for a duration of 4 months, renewable.

The ideal candidate will have experience developing and supporting implementation of Cal/OSHA requirements, Standard Operating Procedures, Job Hazard Analysis/ Risk Assessments, Emergency Response Plans, Behavioral Safety Programs and Contractor Safety Management.  Candidates should also have familiarity with research laboratory safety requirements, waste management (hazardous, non-hazardous, universal/ electronic), environmental reporting (HMBPs), and chemical safety requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee and direct team members to effectively manage tasks for on-time delivery and quality of their deliverables.

• Perform compliance audits to assess client compliance with applicable health and safety or environmental regulatory requirements, client standards, or management systems.

• Support our clients’ desire to improve safety performance by providing training, field coaching, and targeted EHS assessments.

• Identify follow-up corrective actions to close audit findings.

• Provide technical assistance on EHS compliance and EHS management system projects on a range of areas such as R&D laboratory safety, chemical safety, machine guarding, laser safety, robotics safety, hazardous materials use/storage/waste, EHS auditing.

At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected base pay range is between $83,825 and 278,350 for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (SLAC) is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Geologist/Engineer with experience in environmental investigation, monitoring, remediation, hydrogeology and geologic interpretation to join our Environmental Protection Department. Reporting to SLAC's Environmental Protection Department's Environmental Restoration Group Leader, this position will support onsite soil and groundwater site investigations and monitoring, sediment management, ongoing remediation, and possible future remediation projects. General work tasks may include but not be limited to preparing studies, collecting environmental samples and coordinating with analytical laboratories, performing data analysis, managing consultants, preparing timely and accurate reports and regulatory deliverables, presenting information, and interfacing with others at SLAC. Work also includes support of environmental and construction projects through interpreting subsurface geological, hydrological, geochemical and geophysical data.

Your specific responsibilities include:

• Under limited supervision, perform moderately complex technical work in a wide range of environmental disciplines to ensure a safe work environment and to achieve compliance with the university's environmental, health, and safety standards and governmental regulatory requirements.

• Develop, implement, and maintain programs, systems, and procedures necessary to ensure the overall safety and health of employees, the community, and the environment.

• Act as liaison between the Environmental Protection Department and other SLAC projects and entities in support of geological and environmental investigations.

• May develop and conduct employee and student training for relevant disciplines.

To be successful in this position you will bring:

• Bachelor's degree in geology, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, or environmental science and three years progressively responsible experience in the environmental geology/engineering/science field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

• Demonstrated ability and experience with conducting effective environmental and geological investigations and interpretations, conducting data analyses; ability to provide recommendations for future actions.

• Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with diverse audiences; ability to explain technical concepts clearly and concisely.

• Demonstrated experience preparing high quality, accurate reports for final defensible documentation and providing the results to SLAC, DOE, Stanford University, regulators, and the public in well-organized presentations.
