Key Responsibilities:

• This position serves as the site construction safety lead.
• Identifies, analyzes and communicates EHS compliance requirements including securing EHS related permits when needed.
• Assesses compliance, identifies and investigates non-compliances and tracks actions to address closure. Track and report key performance indicators and metrics.
• Monitor and evaluate new regulations and corporate requirements to determine impact on operating location.
• Facilitates compliance audits, assists management in conducting risk assessments, and participates on health and safety teams.
• Evaluate, plan and implement EHS training and awareness programs.  Develop and implement training packages for on-line and/or classroom training. Partner with Employee Health and wellbeing Professionals to ensure coverage and alignment of related programs.
• Support and facilitate site EHS committees/teams to ensure implementation of the EHS program.
• Develop and establish Operational Procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate standards.

Qualifications

Education:

• University/Bachelor’s or equivalent degree required; concentration in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science or Engineering is preferred.

Experience and Skills

Required:

• A minimum of 2-4 years of related experience
• Experience in Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)  
• Experience in Construction safety
• Experience in identifying, evaluating and controlling EHS risks in the workplace
• Demonstrated project management skills
• The ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks such as lifting, carrying, bending, reaching, pulling and pushing

Preferred:

• EHS auditing experience 
• Technical experience in diverse EHS areas including but not limited to permit-to-work, control of hazardous energy, and construction safety is highly desirable
• Report generation and record keeping systems experience
• Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
• Knowledge of EHS management systems
• Physical requirements may include working from ladders, elevated surfaces, platforms, high energy sources, controlled chemical substances, controlled infectious agents and noise extremes

Other:

• Standard hours are 8:00am-5:00pm, but may require off-shift hours, including weekends, as needed by business and for site related emergencies
• Proficiency in MS Office software programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required. J&J Worldwide EHS data reporting and tracking systems is preferred

What you will be doing:

The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator will provide administrative and support services within the Department of Environmental Health and Safety. Manages safety violation policy and remains up to date on changes in safety regulation policy as well as new company safety initiatives.

• Tracks, documents, and catalogs all safety metrics KPI's using contract management applications.
• Assists in tracking compliance status and OSHA incident logs through SEA dashboards.
• Updates various safety policy & procedures related to EH&S programs as needed.
• Maintain required compliance documentation associated with customer guidelines.
• Schedules and maintains routine safety inspections.
• Assists with budget preparation, program changes, development of goals, and short- and long-range planning.
• Assists with research and procurement tasks of EH&S items and necessities as directed.
• Maintains and updates required files and records related to City, State, & Federal requirements.
• Assists as directed with employee training development.
• Prepares for ISO 9001 and other associated EH&S audits.

EHS stands for Environment, Health, and Safety. On this track you can also be involved in Facilities and Maintenance. In this role you will be responsible for any workforce efforts to protect the health and safety of GE Aerospace employees, the public, as well as the environment from hazards. This may include industrial hygiene, hazard assessments, risk abatement, environmental (wastewater management, hazard/non-hazard waste disposal, air regulations, compliance with regulatory agencies) Ergonomics, and addressing safety concerns. In this role you will be understanding our EHS management systems and framework. Coach employees and teams to develop a sustainable process and structure to meet all EHS requirements. • Support leadership in planning, implementing, and coordinating safety programs, policies, and procedures for all active construction sites.
• Attend pre-construction meetings as needed to determine the owner's expectations and safety requirements for each project.

• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in safety engineering or auditing within the construction industry, with a proven track record of ensuring safe, efficient operations on site development, industrial, and mechanical projects (e.g., water/wastewater treatment plants, heavy civil construction, etc.).
• Deep knowledge of OSHA safety standards (29 CFR 1926), with a required OSHA 30 certification; OSHA 510 certification is highly preferred.
• Industry-recognized certifications such as CSM, CSMC, CSHM, CHST, CSP, and COSS are strongly preferred; the ideal candidate will be actively pursuing or willing to pursue additional certifications to stay ahead of industry trends.
