Position SummaryThe position of Maintenance Technician is a hands-on position, that provides technical expertise and participates in the maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance of facility equipment to reduce downtime while increasing operational efficiency in a validated, cGMP environment. This equipment includes machinery, buildings, computer systems, control systems, safety, and security systems. Additionally, this position includes responsibility for maintaining shop tools, inventory, and keeping the department's CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) updated all while adhering to Lean and 5S principles. This position will also be required to support after hours emergency response activities on an as needed basis. In addition, this position assists with the development and maintaining of parts inventory systems. Depending on the modality in which this role operates (i.e. Gamma), this is a physical role - requiring strength and endurance.
This role requires onsite work at our Spartanburg, SC facility. Working Hours for this role are: 6:45am - 6:45pm on a 2-2-3 rotating schedule. The training/onboarding schedule will be M-F dayshift.
What You'll do as a Maintenance Technician- Performs technical troubleshooting on a variety of modalities, technologies, and locations. Performs regularly scheduled preventative maintenance on high volume, validated processing equipment. Reviews preventative maintenance tasks for effectiveness and frequency and recommends any continuous improvement changes or Lean practices for implementation to management.
- Optimizes processing and reduces downtime by performing predictive and preventative maintenance on all equipment, machinery and facility buildings; participating in the installation of new equipment as required; maintaining electrical system, including facility lighting by installing and repairing wiring and fixtures; and performing general maintenance tasks, including landscaping, painting, and carpentry.
- Contributes to maintaining a safe, secure and clean workplace by conducting the daily, weekly, quarterly and semi-annual safety/maintenance inspections according to pre-established guidelines and schedules; completes related paperwork in a timely and accurate manner to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards, while adhering to all safety procedures, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), following Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and complying with all environmental requirements for waste and disposal.
- Contributes to production efficiency by completing shift work in a timely manner as well as responding to off shift maintenance calls on a 24hour rotating on-call responsibility as assigned. Maintaining a spare parts program, and either repairing or deferring action for immediate supervisor decision.
- Maintains building climate by installing, repairing, servicing, or performing preventative maintenance on HVAC (Heating, ventilation, air-conditioning) systems.
- Strives for continuous improvement by analyzing new or alternative ways to improve operations, monitoring production efficiency, incorporating staff recommendations into analysis, responds to audit activities in a constructive manner and uses findings to improve operations where possible.
- Continuously maintains mechanical and technical skills, knowledge, and abilities required for the position. by attending workshops, reviewing trade publications, participating in training and training others to conduct minor, basic repairs to equipment, machinery, etc.; completing necessary certification and re-certification requirements.
- Contributes in a team effort by performing in accordance to all STERIS policies, GMP, Lean principles and other directives; supports the directives and decisions of higher level management and performs other duties as assigned.
Required
- High School Diploma/GED
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience in positions demonstrating knowledge of maintenance systems, mechanical processes and production output in a manufacturing/industrial/military environment.
- Ability to effectively read, write and verbally communicate in English.
- Ability to work independently under general guidelines and supervision.
- Requires computer literacy to include word processing, spreadsheet, email, calendar, virtual platforms, computerized maintenance management systems and software capabilities.
- Requires effective interpersonal skills as demonstrated through prior experience.
- Average organizing, analyzing and a minimum of Level 2 math skills (ratios, basic algebra) to determine organizational Customer and regulatory problems to formulate corrective action plans.
- May require PLC/control experience.
- Able to adapt to changing duties and responsibilities and complete all other duties as assigned.
- Requires working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanics or electrical applications.
- Requires ability to read blueprints and schematics.
- Normal hearing range sufficient to hear alarms, bells, horns, etc.

- Ability to meet physical requirements of position, including physical capacity evaluation testing and annual physical, as appropriate.
- Ability to successfully complete Operator training (classroom and hands-on) to become certified Operator and successfully pass Operator re-certification test annually.

Pay range for this opportunity is $20.07/hr - $29.35/hr. This position is eligible forbonus participation.

We are seeking experienced Maintenance Technicians to support our fast-paced, high-volume automotive manufacturing operation in Fountain Inn, SC . This is a physically demanding role in a dirty and wet environment , and ideal candidates will be those with a strong Tier 1 or OEM background and a passion for keeping critical equipment running at peak performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on industrial equipment (including 1000+ ton presses)
- Partner initially with a YF Maintenance team member for onboarding and process familiarization
- Execute repairs independently after initial shadowing
- Follow all lockout/tagout procedures (training provided on site)
- Participate in overhead crane operation training as required
- Lift up to 50 lbs. regularly in a rugged industrial environment
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a Tier 1 automotive or OEM manufacturing setting
- Available to work 8-hour shifts on off shifts , including weekends
- Physically capable of working in dirty, wet, and hot conditions
- Comfortable lifting 50 lbs. or more
- Able to commit to a 7-day per week schedule
- Own tools helpful , but tools will be provided
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills required

POSITION SUMMARY
Installs, maintains, and repairs shop equipment. This position performs maintenance, parts replacement, and repair of industrial machinery, as well as electrical and electronic equipment. Required to have at least 5 or more years of experience. This position requires the ability to work with only minimal supervisory direction and follow up.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: (Other duties may be assigned.)
• Work independently.
• Responsible for all facility maintenance.
• Work with third party subcontractor when applicable
• Regular inspection of all electrical and powered equipment.
• Troubleshoot and detect problems in all assigned equipment.
• Repair assigned equipment as tasked by the Superintendent.• Repair and replace defective components of equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Clean and lubricate machinery and equipment.
• Maintain a clean shop environment in work areas.
• Repair and adjust hydraulic pumps and safety valves on heavy equipment.
• Perform incidental testing on equipment.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, understand and communicate effectively in English.
• Maintain regular attendance and timeliness on a consistent basis.
• Conduct business and interactions with a positive attitude that projects a high level of professionalism.
