Job Description
At Burns & McDonnell, our Project Managers are seller-doers who develop and maintain client relationships. They will have the responsibility for coordinating and leading our design teams in Kansas City, MO to deliver quality projects that make our clients successful. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience working on DOE facility, equipment, and infrastructure projects, and have experience with design-build projects. They will manage all design, cost, schedule, construction and general administration activities associated with their projects. This Project Manager will be responsible for the successful completion of large and smaller value projects as part of an annual portfolio of projects. Additionally, this Project Manager will:
+ Plan, coordinate, communicate and facilitate activities of several disciplines on projects of all sizes from concept through completion
+ Make critical decisions and recommendations that have an important effect on projects and programs
+ Manage project delivery, including scoping, budgeting, maintaining schedules, meeting budget objectives, communicating and meeting deadlines

**Qualifications**

The Staff Commissioning Engineer will perform the following:
+ Manage and execute commissioning, retro-commissioning and energy related projects.

+ Participate in meetings with owner, operation and maintenance, design and construction personnel to understand project goals and schedule to ensure commissioning is properly coordinated.
+ Prepare commissioning plans, specifications, checklists and functional test documentation based on Burns & McDonnell standards.
+ Review design, equipment submittals, operation and maintenance manual, start-up reports, checklists, and training programs.
+ Perform site visits to coordinate commissioning, evaluate new and existing systems, witness equipment start-up and testing.
+ Perform functional testing and document results and performance issues.
+ Collaborate with owner, operation and maintenance, design and construction personnel in recommending solutions for items of non-conformance.
+ Assist with the development and refinement of methodologies, tools, and standards in support of a growing national and worldwide commissioning practice.
+ Assist with training operation and maintenance personnel to maintain commissioned systems and perform a continuous commissioning program.
+ Travel may be required to support project execution for duration of project/program in the form of field assignments. Frequency of travel will vary based on the different project needs. Travel on short notice may be required.Travel may extend over weekends and holidays.
+ The base work schedule will be a five (5) day work week (Monday through Friday) with some exceptions based on the project location. Periodic weekend work and extended workdays may be required for certain projects.

Qualifications
+ BS in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university is preferred, but industry experience will be evaluated.
+ Mechanical, electrical, and/or technical system commissioning experience is preferred.
+ A minimum of 3 years of direct commissioning or related experience in startups and testing of a variety of facility systems.
+ Certification in the Commissioning Process, Energy Management, and/or LEED Accreditation a plus.
+ Strong facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
+ Experience with different types of stand-alone monitoring equipment including flow meters, temperature loggers, electrical meters, and others a plus.
+ Experience in ASHRAE level energy audits and development of energy savings calculations from retrofits and energy measures identified during retro-commissioning a plus.
+ Experience in central utility plants, healthcare facilities, laboratories, airports, building automation system controls, test & balance, NETA electrical testing, renewable energy and other specialties a plus.
+ Successful completion of OSHA 30-hour Safety Training Course is required within the first 3 months.

This position offers challenging work on a significant variety of projects, including airfield pavements and geometric layout and facilities and infrastructure at airports and federal sites, and requires a broad understanding of all civil engineering design and construction principles. This position is responsible for providing a full range of civil engineering design and production work including problem analysis, design layout, calculations, specifications writing, and report writing on projects of substantial variety and complexity. Project design tasks will include master planning, site layout and development, airfield layout and development, utilities, drainage, and grading,
Our team is routinely responsible for performing the following:
+ Design site infrastructure for these facilities, including road geometry, parking lot layout, utility layout, grading, and drainage design, and stormwater management facilities.
+ Design airfield infrastructure for regional and international airport clients, including runways, taxiways, parking aprons, alert shelters, engine runup areas, which would include detailed pavement design, geometric layout, grading, drainage, and stormwater management.
+ Design fuel storage and hydrant system facilities at airports and military facilities.
+ Design ramp support facilities at airports including aircraft parking, maneuvering, jet bridge analysis, and ground support equipment servicing/parking.
+ Develop master plans for state-of-the-art facilities for commercial aviation and federal government clients. + Preparation of detailed drawings and specifications for all civil engineering portions of projects.
+ Site master planning, including site geometry, facility layout and orientation, vehicular access and parking, and pedestrian access.
+ Site development including grading design and earthwork calculations.
+ Site geometry and pavement design, including airfield and site pavements.
+ Utility system design for all utilities servicing the project, including utility routing, profiles, specifications, and coordination with other design disciplines.
+ Stormwater management design, including hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stormwater conveyance design, flood control, and stormwater quantity and quality control.

**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program, and 3 years of mechanical engineering experience required. Consulting experience preferred. OR

The Staff Commissioning Engineer will perform the following:
+ Manage and execute commissioning, retro-commissioning and energy related projects.

+ Participate in meetings with owner, operation and maintenance, design and construction personnel to understand project goals and schedule to ensure commissioning is properly coordinated.
+ Prepare commissioning plans, specifications, checklists and functional test documentation based on Burns & McDonnell standards.
+ Review design, equipment submittals, operation and maintenance manual, start-up reports, checklists, and training programs.
+ Perform site visits to coordinate commissioning, evaluate new and existing systems, witness equipment start-up and testing.
+ Perform functional testing and document results and performance issues.
+ Collaborate with owner, operation and maintenance, design and construction personnel in recommending solutions for items of non-conformance.
+ Assist with the development and refinement of methodologies, tools, and standards in support of a growing national and worldwide commissioning practice.
+ Assist with training operation and maintenance personnel to maintain commissioned systems and perform a continuous commissioning program.
+ Travel may be required to support project execution for duration of project/program in the form of field assignments. Frequency of travel will vary based on the different project needs. Travel on short notice may be required.Travel may extend over weekends and holidays.
+ The base work schedule will be a five (5) day work week (Monday through Friday) with some exceptions based on the project location. Periodic weekend work and extended workdays may be required for certain projects.

**Qualifications**
+ BS in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university is preferred, but industry experience will be evaluated.
