In this role, you will work closely with the Director of North America Finance and business partners in North America Sales to help drive strategic decision-making, provide financial insight, and build operational rigor and efficiency.

Compensation Disclosure

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $116,000 - $188,000/YR. About the Role:

We are seeking a Strategic Finance Manager with a strong foundation in accounting principles to join our GTM Finance team. This position qualifies under the Accountant category of the TN visa, emphasizing work in financial reporting, GAAP compliance, budgeting, and analytical support for core business functions.

The base compensation range for this position for candidates in the SF Bay Area is: $130,000 - $194,000. For all other locations, the base compensation range is based on the primary work location of the candidate, as our ranges are location-specific. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skillset, years of experience, and depth of experience.

What you'll be doing:
  • Apply GAAP principles to prepare, interpret, and analyze financial statements related to Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Professional Services.
  • Lead financial planning and budgeting processes for assigned departments, including revenue, expense, and headcount forecasting.
  • Analyze variances between budgeted and actual financial results; prepare reconciliations and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain and improve internal accounting controls, documentation, and financial policies for GTM-related activities.
  • Compile and present periodic financial reports for leadership, including P&L statements, cost tracking reports, and margin analysis.

**Compensation Disclosure**

We are seeking a Finance Manager to join our small team. This position is critical to providing essential finance capacity and operational insight as we scale our business. You will be responsible for financial modeling, cost tracking, vendor management, and ad hoc projects across the organization. The Finance team at Perplexity is looking for a self-motivated and detail-oriented individual who can prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

You will be working closely with the VP of Finance to build Perplexity’s Finance function. You will be expected to be able to think high-level about existing processes and also roll up your sleeves to institute new ways of doing things. This position is critical for scaling our finance function to support our rapidly growing company.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain multi-year financial projections in monthly, 3-statement format.
  • Gather and analyze operational data to inform financial planning and decision-making.
  • Support project finance, including budgeting, spend tracking, and reporting.
  • Monitor infrastructure spend, flag anomalies, and optimize cost allocations.
  • Provide FP&A across teams and support vendor negotiations to achieve performance targets while minimizing spend.
  • Maintain detailed spend run rate files and proactively identify trends and issues.

  • Experience with cost allocation, vendor management, and contract tracking.
  • Working knowledge and practical understanding of US GAAP principles.

The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and seasoned Finance Manager to join our team at a pivotal moment in our growth. In this critical role, you will be a key leader within the finance function, responsible for driving our financial strategy, owning our financial planning and analysis, and serving as a strategic partner to the leadership team. You will not just analyze the data-you will use it to shape our business, ensure operational excellence, and drive actionable outcomes.
What You'll Do
  • Manage Financial Operations: Own key components of the month-end close process, partnering with accounting to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and insightful variance analysis. Proactively identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and strengthen financial controls.
  • Own Financial Modeling & Forecasting: Lead, own, and continuously improve our corporate financial model to forecast revenue, expenses, and profitability. You will be responsible for the integrity and accuracy of the model, driving variance analysis and sophisticated scenario planning to guide strategic decisions.
  • Drive Metrics & Reporting: Go beyond tracking metrics to deliver insightful and actionable reporting that evaluates financial and operational performance. Lead the development of key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards that provide clear visibility into business drivers, risks, and opportunities.
  • Lead Planning & Budgeting: Drive the annual and long-term budgeting and forecasting processes. Partner with department heads to create and manage budgets, providing data-driven recommendations to optimize resource allocation and financial performance.
  • Serve as a Strategic Business Partner: Act as the primary finance business partner for cross-functional collaboration (BD & Partnership, Marketing, BizOps, etc.). Proactively engage with leaders to understand their objectives, provide financial guidance, and ensure their initiatives are financially sound and aligned with company goals.
  • Support Fundraising & Investor Relations: Partner closely with the Head of Finance to prepare financial models, investor reporting packages, and board materials. Support fundraising diligence processes with timely and accurate data.
  • Own Payroll w/ our PEO: Manage end-to-end payroll processing in partnership with our external PEO, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll execution. Work with PEO and People Team to audit and resolve potential discrepancies.Lead Vendor Procurement & Contract Management: Own the end-to-end procurement process, partnering with teams on vendor selection, contract negotiation, and ongoing relationship management. Guide internal teams to ensure cost-effective purchasing, track contract terms and renewals, and support compliance with company policies and budget guidelines.
  • Lead Special Projects: Independently lead and execute high-priority, ambiguous projects designated by leadership, such as new system implementations, pricing analysis, or other strategic initiatives.
About You
  • 5-7+ years of progressive professional experience in FP&A, audit, corporate finance, investment banking, or similar roles, with experience in a fast-growing startup environment preferred.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to independently translate complex financial data into strategic, actionable recommendations.
  • A profound sense of ownership and accountability, with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and drive projects to completion.

The Strategic Finance team is focused on solving some of Figma's most pressing business issues. The team is responsible for owning the company's budget, driving annual and quarterly planning processes, allocating and deploying the company's resources efficiently, performing financial analyses, and partnering with teams across the company. We are currently hiring for a few roles across our Strategic Finance team.

  • Go-To-Market: This role will focus on our International Sales business. This will involve:
    • Owning the Sales ARR forecast for non-AMER regions
    • Partnering with Sales & Sales Ops leadership to develop business insights
    • Building & scaling operating rhythms (e.g. deal desk)
  • Marketing: This role will focus on headcount and expense for Marketing, as well as our self-serve acquisition funnel.
    • Own top of funnel forecasting for our self-serve business
    • Build monthly and quarterly headcount and program expense forecasts; closely partner with Marketing to understand investment opportunities and ROI
    • Conduct budget variance analysis for our Finance & Marketing Leadership teams
    • Develop a unit economics framework for assessing our Performance Marketing Program and collaborate with Marketing to implement performance management framework
  • R&D: This role will focus on Product, Design, & Engineering headcount and expense. This will involve:
    • Owning our R&D & core cloud infrastructure expense forecasts
    • Leading the R&D org headcount planning process by partnering with leaders across R&D, mapping resourcing to growth opportunities & investment
    • Providing R&D leaders with Budget Variance Analysis on headcount & expense and guiding the quarterly/annual budgeting process

This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs (SF / NY) or remotely in the United States.

What You'll Do At Figma:
  • Develop cross-functional partnerships with Leadership across the company to review investment opportunities, growth levers, and align on a resourcing model
  • Drive culture of performance management with real time dashboards, KPIs, and insights into emerging trends
