A Day In The Life As a Portfolio Strategy & Planning Lead, in our Data & Analytics organization, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our data and analytics initiatives drive meaningful and proven value to The Friedkin Group of companies. You will work with our business stakeholders, product owners, and corporate finance to ensure that each initiative has a clear and measurable business case, define and deliver agreed tracking of business impact, manage and report on program costs, and manage business case change throughout the delivery of our programs. By providing essential support to the D&A Project Management Office (PMO) and collaborating closely with project teams, you will drive enhancements in efficiency, standardization, and the adoption of best practices throughout the portfolio management lifecycle. Your contributions will be crucial in expanding the financial impact of the Data & Analytics organization. As a Portfolio Strat Plan Lead you will: Define, socialize and implement best practices in business impact estimation across the portfolio of projects. Facilitate processes within the project ideation, scoping, development, and deployment phases that secure sign-off from key stakeholders and manage change in expected impact and or costs. Establish reporting mechanisms to track and convey business impact. Track all program and project expenses to help control costs to meet budgetary commitments. Establish processes to plan for new project costs and forecast existing program budgets. Assist with resource allocation, capacity planning, and forecasting to optimize resource utilization within the Data & Analytics team. Perform financial analyses and forecasting to guide decision-making processes and enhance the financial performance of the Data & Analytics team. Support the Data & Analytics PMO to establish and maintain project governance frameworks, standards, and policies to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives. Continuously evaluate and enhance operational processes, methodologies, and tools to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of project delivery for the Data & Analytics team. Spearhead process improvements that bolster the Data & Analytics team effectiveness and enhance Employee Engagement. What We Need From You Bachelor's Degree Business Administration, Project Management, or a closely related field Req 5 years of experience in a role supporting planning, budgets, communications, and operational needs within IT teams, with a strong preference for experience in Data and Analytics environments. Experience managing software development budgets and financial planning. Strong analytical capabilities with a proven track record of dissecting complex data and delivering actionable insights. Thorough understanding of and experience with project management methodologies, tools (such as MS Project, JIRA, or Asana), and techniques. Experience in agile, scrum, or lean methodologies is highly desirable. Advanced skills in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and familiarity with cloud-based project management software systems. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to manage stakeholder relationships at all levels of an organization. The City of Tomball Texas is accepting applications for the position of Finance Specialist (Payroll). The Finance Specialist (Payroll) position will be responsible for providing essential financial and clerical support to the Finance Department. This position will be primarily responsible for the moderately complex biweekly timekeeping and payroll process for approximately 300 employees, maintaining payroll records, and all payroll reporting requirements.

Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

Prefer AA or AS degree with at least three (3) years of related payroll experience or High school diploma with at least five (5) years of related payroll experience. Local government experience a plus, but not required.


Finance Specialist's (Payroll) functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Verifying and transmitting the biweekly payroll data from timekeeping software.
  • Communicating with staff for time discrepancies.
  • Processing payroll on bi-weekly basis in compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Verifying changes to employee records including additions, terminations, earnings and deduction codes.
  • Resolving payroll related inquiries regarding pay and timekeeping issues.
  • Preparing and transmitting bi-weekly payroll contributions.
  • Preparing and submitting monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports.
  • Preparing various internal payroll-related reports.
  • Uploading documentation to employee records. Organize and maintain reports and documentation in accordance with established records retention requirements.
  • Providing employee access and managing security permissions in the Time Clock system.
  • Providing TimeClock system training to supervisors and employees.
  • Preparing and distributing annual W-2s to employees.
  • Continuously improve payrol processes and procedures.
  • Providing support to Accounts Payable and Utility Billing as needed.
  • Assisting with other financial duties as assigned.

  • Conduct cash forecast analysis
  • Conduct or assist with month-end close activities including allocations, assessments, reviews to ensure complete, accurate and timely close
  • Review and analyze financial results to determine accuracy and completeness of information; identify trends and make recommendations for improvement
  • Analyze distribution cost to identify accuracy and opportunities for cost reduction
  • Support the good receipt/invoice receipt (GRIR) process
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to S/4 HANA systems
  • Conduct comprehensive inventory analysis and evaluate the financial impacts on inventory management
