The Workforce Development Division (WDD) at the Department of Workforce Services (DWS) is looking for skilled and motivated individual to fill an Employment Counselor Iposition.
Employment Counselors will utilize a wide variety of programs and services to assist individuals, families and youth. We work with people one on one or in groups to set career and educational goals and identify and resolve barriers that stand in the way of meeting those goals.
Formal training will be provided to assist you in conducting formal assessments and work-ready evaluations according to department standards, and to provide support services and resources from the Department. Additional instruction will be provided in learning of community partner resources and referrals to those resources, in order to help people address barriers that prevent them from succeeding. Training will include how to access and interpret labor market information and employer needs. Monitoring of customer progress and documentation will be done in the Department online case management software program.

**Job Description**
**Essential Responsibilities:**
+ Define and implement the global employment tax strategy, ensuring alignment with evolving business models, legislation, risk appetite, and technology developments. Lead employment tax aspects of corporate transactions, including business separations, reorganizations, and expansions.
+ Oversee compliance and reporting for employment tax obligations across multiple jurisdictions, including Americas, EMEA, and APAC
+ Partner with Payroll, HR, Compensation, Benefits, Corporate Tax, Legal, and Finance to ensure cohesive execution of employment tax policies.
+ Manage International, US Federal and US state employment tax audits, resolve disputes with tax authorities, and address post-filing notice inquiries.
+ Act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, including Boards of Directors, senior leadership, and global enabling functions.

**Qualifications/ Requirements:**

+ Proven experience leading employment tax strategy and operations for large, multinational organizations.

Job Summary

Job Summary
Bruin Scholars Program Peer Mentors support the transition of students to SLCC, specifically first-generation, undocumented, transitioning-out-of-foster care, nontraditional students, and student who need help who are involved in the Bruin Scholars cohort, a program designed for students to have a smooth transition and support system in college.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Peer Mentors must:
- Communicate effectively (in writing and verbally) with a wide range of diverse individuals.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, cultural competencies, and sensibilities.
- Work collaboratively with other office staff, a variety of campus departments and community personnel.
- Assist in event planning and execution to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for students.
- Utilize basic computer operating systems and SLCC's computer systems (Banner, DegreeWorks).
- Demonstrate professionalism.
- Exhibit knowledge of HB 144 and other Undocumented Student resources.
- Attend all the required trainings to stay up-to-date on the latest policies, procedures, and resources available to students
- Coach students on crucial skills such as time management, financial literacy, and success strategies to help them thrive in college and beyond.
- Foster a respectful and inclusive environment for all students, faculty, and staff.
- Be open to taking on other duties as assigned by the OSS team, as needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
As a qualified professional, you must possess the following skills and qualities:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective interpersonal communication
- Comprehensive customer service skills to ensure customer satisfaction
- Capability to deliver presentations to large audiences and provide one-on-one consultations
- Willingness to travel to various campuses in the Salt Lake valley to conduct workshops/orientations
- Capacity to collaborate effectively with other office staff, a variety of campus departments, and community personnel
- Proficiency in organizing, processing, and applying large amounts of information with accuracy
- Willingness to learn the requirements of SLCC departments, majors, schools, programs, degree options and College resources and procedures such as application, registration, catalog, and schedule

- Flexibility to work a schedule that may include evenings and weekends
