- Job Type: Full-time
- Location: Huntsville, AL
- Pay Rate: $20.00/hr. - 1st Shift, $21.00/hr. - 3rd Shift
- Shifts: 1st Shift: 6:30am to 6:30pm
- Rotating schedule: 3-2-3 and every other weekend
- Must be able to train on 1st shift

**Roles and Responsibilities:**
- Load and unload fixtures with product into furnaces.
- Ensure that the product is set up correctly and sufficiently clean.
- Ensure an adequate gas supply and replace gas tanks as needed.
- Ensure targets and melts are adequate to run the process being loaded.
- Perform tests on standards to ensure coating thickness and adhesion are within specifications.
- Perform batch cleanings at proper intervals.
- Responsible for setting up and separating product.
**Qualifications & Skills:**
- Previous manufacturing experience is required.
- Able to use both hands simultaneously for pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, lifting, stooping, and walking.
- Able to work for long periods while standing.
- Good eye/hand coordination.

**Job Description**
Join our team as a Furnace Operator, where you will play a crucial role in the setup and operation of a vacuum atomization furnace. This position involves performing a variety of tasks, including cleaning, quality inspection, monitoring, and securing operations to ensure the efficient functioning of the furnace.
**Responsibilities**
+ Perform cleaning, quality inspection, monitoring, and securing operations to assist in the setup of a vacuum atomization furnace.
+ Follow verbal and written instructions to perform repetitive tasks before, during, and after the atomization process.
+ Assist in preparing raw material charges and operate the furnace control board.
+ Make minor repairs on the furnace, atomization chamber, and other auxiliary equipment.
+ Clean the atomization chamber and carry out housekeeping duties.
+ Remove and replace the furnace lid and coils, and clean the interior of the furnace chamber and 'O' ring seal.
+ Clean raw material charge and transport to charge area.
+ Assist in the attachment and detachment of gas, electric, and water lines to furnace lid and tank.
+ Utilize electric hoist to remove and replace furnace lid from furnace chamber.
+ Clean inside of crucibles, patch cracks, and perform other repair tasks of crucibles prior to the next run.
+ Adhere to CORE guidelines and perform CORE duties as required.
+ Comply with all EH&S guidelines, including wearing required personal protective equipment such as respirator and mask.
+ Carry out additional tasks within the scope and skill level of the position to support department objectives and skill development.
+ Ability to work overtime when needed.
**Essential Skills**
+ Experience in a production setting working with machines as a general production worker, machine operator, or plant laborer.
+ Ability to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
+ Ability and experience working in a hot environment

FURNACE OPERATOR
Our Furnace Operators carry out vacuum heat treating and brazing services to some of the most notable companies out there. With extensive training (typically 6+ months), you'll learn the ropes from our tenured co-workers to provide services of the highest possible quality.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
You probably don't like being micromanaged which is good because we don't like to micromanage. As a Furnace Operator, you'll work independently, owning your projects from start to finish. Projects vary in length, so you'll juggle a few projects at once, switching between tasks throughout the day. It's never a dull moment- from tracking the furnace's performance one moment to packing in or out a project the next. While every day might be a little different, you can expect to do the following:
+ Planning and changing out furnace loads and packing all orders
+ Operating furnaces and other shop equipment
+ Maintaining clean and orderly work areas (we pride ourselves on safety and cleanliness)
+ Follow project instructions and complete all customer labeling and packaging requirements
+ Configure and monitor settings on programs, recorders, and vacuum gauges
+ Work efficiently while ensuring company quality standards are maintained
QUALIFICATIONS
+ High School Diploma or GED required
+ Basic math skills will serve you very well
+ Reliable and organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize
+ Comfortability working in a fast-paced environment moving around consistently throughout the day
+ Ability to lift, bend, reach, and stand for extended periods of time

Collins Aerospace in Spokane WA is hiring for a motivated entry level **Furnace Operator I.** In this position you will be responsible for the production of carbon-carbon composite production and other key industry technology. Collins is an industry leader in the research, development and production of Carbon brake components for the aerospace industry.
The Furnace Deck department is responsible for the carbon vapor deposition process which penetrates the preforms from textile with carbon. The Furnace Deck operator operates combustion furnaces, cranes, forklifts, and various other pieces of equipment to ensure our product meets our customers' needs. This work in this department varies from supporting and troubleshooting automated robots to performing complex physical tasks.
**Rotating Shift: Our Operators love our 4 on - 4 off schedule, 6:00am - 6:00pm**
+ **Rotating between day/night shift every 6 weeks.**
+ **Pay range of $17/hr to $22/hr**
+ **Shift differential of +2.25/hr paid on both day and night shifts.**
+ **Additional 16 hours/month in average of built-in overtime**
**What You Will Do**
+ You will be part of a team-oriented atmosphere and interact with other functional groups (e.g., engineering) on technical matters.
+ You will uphold process integrity and ensure quality standards are met throughout all furnace operations
+ You will adhere to Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) regulations and proactively identify and address safety hazards
+ You will follow standard operating procedures to uphold safety protocols and ensure product quality
+ You will utilize basic to intermediate computer skills for data entry and process monitoring.
+ You will be able to lift up to 25 lbs. with or without a reasonable accommodation, (anything over 25 lbs. would need to be lift assisted.)
+ You will work 4 days on/4 days off - 12-hour shifts, rotating days to nights every 6 weeks.
**What You Will Learn**
+ You will gain the knowledge of all pertinent customer and company specifications including but not limited to international standards relating to the production of carbon-carbon brake components & company policies.
+ You will learn to operate a range of support equipment including Overhead Cranes, Forklifts, Vacuums, Scissor Lifts, and Power Tools.
+ You will learn to conduct furnace readings, rounds, and oversee process flow to maintain optimal operation
+ You will learn to perform equipment preventative maintenance as directed and promptly report any mechanical or safety concerns to supervisors
+ You will acquire knowledge of Collins and customer specifications, finished products, and relevant policies
+ You will be trained on the basic operations of the furnace process
+ You will learn to recognize issues with the process equipment tolerance limits
**Qualifications You Must Have**
+ HS Diploma. In the absence of a HS diploma a GED is required.
