Position Overview
Rider University seeks a general maintenance professional. This individual will have the opportunity to apply their skills in a variety of ways across our 280-acre (forty-three buildings). This includes but is not limited to routine general maintenance services requiring the repair/replacement and installation of building components.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated basic plumbing and electrical experience.
- Demonstrated organizational skills.
- Physical ability to perform required job responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision, work from ladders, and operate power tools.
- A valid driver's license in good standing is required.
- Must have own hand tools.
- Satisfactory background and/or DMV checks required.
- 3 years of general maintenance experience is preferred

You have a strong background of skilled tradesman experience and have proven communication skills with supervisors, employees, and customers. You are self-motivated, thrive in fast moving environments, and able to manage time to effectively meet deadlines.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Complete small to medium repairs, remodeling, and home improvement projects including doors, fences, gutter cleaning, caulking, etc
- Complete carpentry projects including cabinetry, countertops, shelving etc
- Communicate with customers about scope of work and cost estimates
- Insure the efficient use of materials and maintain adequate stock of necessary equipment
- Collect payment and/or payment information from customers for work performed
- Keep company vehicle and equipment properly serviced, clean, and in good working order and condition
- Complete invoices, daily route sheets, and weekly reports as required
- Perform other duties as needed which may include cross-training in related positions
- Skilled tradesman with 5-10 years of experience in home maintenance/repair and remodeling
- Strong carpentry background
- Must have own tools fit for many job types
- Proficiency to navigate tablet based technology
- Team player who can work independently

The Building Maintenance position provides daily repair and maintenance services for all aspects of the operation, including offices, public spaces, restroom facilities, grounds and other areas as required.
Essential Duties:
- Performs general repairs and maintenance for all areas with in the operation including but not limited to: electrical, mechanical, and structural aspects of the buildings and grounds.
- Maintains cleanliness and appearance of exterior of the facility including but not limited to: emptying trash cans and ashtrays, sweeping walkways, picking up litter, and arranging outdoor furniture.
- Maintains cleanliness and appearance of interior areas of the facility including but not limited to: emptying trash cans and ashtrays, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and arranging furniture.
- Identify and report to supervisor when supplies are needed.
- Regular and reliable attendance
- Performs other duties as required.
- Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Frequently uses hands, reaches with hands and arms. Regularly climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, crawls, stands, walks, sits. Frequently lifts or carries up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally works in wet or humid conditions, near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles. Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate.
- No certifications or licenses are required.
- Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
