Job Description

In support of the UCPath transactional processors and approvers in the Academic Units Shared Service Center (AUSS-C) serve as a subject matter expert providing first point of contact to the processors and approvers. Incumbent will be an additional resource, assessing issues and helping with problem resolution with regard to UCPath transactions and local processes; providing training to new employees and when there are changes to UCPath or location processes; provide applicant screening of staff positions; and expertise in AggieService CASE management.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/ training.
  • Experience with leading teams and projects.
  • Experience with transactional support in Human Resources and Payroll actions in a large, fast paced, high volume environment.
  • Experience with decision making, triage and discernment as to when to escalate.
  • Experience training others via different methods.

Department Overview

The Academic Units Shared Service Center (AUSS-C) is a collaborative effort between academic colleges and schools at UC Davis to centralize a set of transactional processes and consultative services. AUSS-C expertly performs human resources, payroll, and personnel transactions in service of these academic units. AUSS-C is the focal point for UC Path transactions for its academic units. AUSS-C is under the governance of the Assistant Deans of participating partners.

Work Environment

UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. We are seeking a seasoned HR Generalist to join our dynamic team in the Manufacturing industry. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the Human Resources function and will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy. The HR Generalist will be responsible for a broad range of HR functions including payroll, benefits administration, recruitment, training and development, compensation and benefits, and employee engagement.

Responsibilities:

1. Manage and execute end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

2. Administer comprehensive employee benefits programs, addressing queries and resolving benefits-related issues in a timely and efficient manner.

3. Oversee the entire recruitment process, from job posting to interviewing to onboarding, ensuring that we attract, hire, and retain the best talent in the industry.

4. Design, implement, and manage training and development programs that meet the needs of employees and the business, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

5. Develop and implement competitive compensation and benefits packages to attract and retain top talent, ensuring alignment with company strategy and compliance with legal requirements.

6. Drive employee engagement initiatives, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment that supports collaboration, performance, and mutual respect.

7. Advise and support management on HR-related issues, providing guidance and recommendations for resolution.

8. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and company policies.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a HR Generalist role, preferably in the Manufacturing industry.

3. In-depth knowledge of HR functions and best practices.

4. Excellent understanding of general human resources policies and procedures.

5. Strong knowledge of employment/labor laws.

6. Outstanding knowledge of MS Office; HRIS systems (e.g. PeopleSoft) will be a plus.

7. Excellent communication and people skills.

8. Aptitude in problem-solving.

9. Desire to work as a team with a result driven approach.

10. Additional HR training or certifications will be a plus.
