Brian Cox Mechanical is seeking an experienced HVAC estimator with a minimum of 5 years industry-specific experience who can provide both conceptual and plan and specification bids. We are looking for someone who is extremely knowledgeable, reliable, detailed, and a good communicator both internal to the company and externally with customers and vendors.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Conceptual budgeting
- Design Build estimating
- Plan & Spec estimating
- Provide detailed budget & estimates
- Material and equipment take-offs
- Obtaining vendor and subcontractor quotes
- Incorporation of plans, specs & BOD's into estimates
- Review of subcontractor bids / scope of work requirements
- Proposal development and submission
- Interview as part of the team to build the project
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Quotesoft abilities a plus.
- Must be detail oriented, well organized and have the ability to meet deadlines, and work in a very fast paced environment
- Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, especially during the bid process.

Key Responsibilities
- Reviews project plans, specs, and coordinates with the team to confirm a complete scope.
- Identifies issues, their order of magnitude, and coordinates the RFI process with the design team.
- Prepares accurate quantity takeoffs and obtains materials and/or subcontractor pricing.
- Solicits subcontractor and supplier information and pricing.
- Reviews general conditions, schedule, scopes of work, site logistics and other exhibits.
- Prepares instructions to bidders, bid forms, and other bid solicitation documents as required.
- Prepares conceptual budgets and unit pricing metrics.
- Pursues and maintains positive relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and clients to enable growth and communication.
- Ensures all project information is received, maintained, and documented.
- Maintain clear lines of communication with the client through all phases of the Pre-Bid & Post-Bid Process until start of construction, and/or when the Project Manager takes over the project and handing over and reviewing a complete bid package.
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or a related field required.
- Must have 5+ years experience estimating, and 3+ years experience specific to ground up and/or civil work.
- Must have reliable transportation, and ability to travel.
- Must have excellent computer knowledge and experience with MS Office Suite, Microsoft Project, SAGE 100, BidMail, and common BIM software.
- Resume to include a list of references from past employers/clients, and a list of completed projects with a description of the capacity in which you were involved in each project.

- Perform Quantity Take-Offs using On-screen Takeoff

This individual will provide complete conceptual and final estimating input on CM or complete total bid price for GC work. They will deal with owners, A/E's and contractors to resolve technical and/or value engineering matters during negotiation and contract execution. Additionally, they will perform all functions and responsibilities in consonance with company's values and beliefs and in alignment with the company's mission.
The Senior Construction Estimator will play a crucial role in the pre-construction phase, responsible for accurately estimating the costs associated with construction projects. This includes analyzing project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction estimating, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

- Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather information and develop accurate estimates.
- Prepare and present cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, and other costs.
- Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids.
- Conduct risk analysis and develop contingency plans for potential project challenges.
- Maintain and update cost databases and historical cost records.
- Provide input on value engineering and cost-saving opportunities.
- Assist in the preparation of project budgets and schedules.
- Monitor project costs during construction to ensure adherence to budget.
- Stay current with industry trends, materials, and construction methods.
- Mentor and train junior estimators, providing guidance and support.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in (insert specific industry or type of construction).
- Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and cost factors.
- Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, Sage Estimating) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professional certification (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator, AACE Certification) is a plus.

Key Responsibilities
- Reviews project plans, specs, and coordinates with the team to confirm a complete scope.
- Identifies issues, their order of magnitude, and coordinates the RFI process with the design team.
- Prepares accurate quantity takeoffs and obtains materials and/or subcontractor pricing.
- Solicits subcontractor and supplier information and pricing.
- Reviews general conditions, schedule, scopes of work, site logistics and other exhibits.
- Prepares instructions to bidders, bid forms, and other bid solicitation documents as required.
- Prepares conceptual budgets and unit pricing metrics.
- Pursues and maintains positive relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and clients to enable growth and communication.
- Ensures all project information is received, maintained, and documented.
- Maintain clear lines of communication with the client through all phases of the Pre-Bid & Post-Bid Process until start of construction, and/or when the Project Manager takes over the project and handing over and reviewing a complete bid package.
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or a related field required.
- Must have 5+ years experience estimating, and 3+ years experience specific to ground up and/or civil work.
- Must have reliable transportation, and ability to travel.
- Must have excellent computer knowledge and experience with MS Office Suite, Microsoft Project, SAGE 100, BidMail, and common BIM software.
- Resume to include a list of references from past employers/clients, and a list of completed projects with a description of the capacity in which you were involved in each project.
- Proven estimating experience in retail, fast food, gas stations and other non-union private construction projects.
