Job Purpose

Lead the regional manufacturing process systems function team providing day-to-day, hands-on team leadership, development, execution and support promoting system standardization and diffusion across North American manufacturing plants ensuring robust, repeatable and controlled processes are in place to improve business value and plant characteristics enhancement. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of process systems (includes PDDA, EOS, MDRS) and standards strategies including plans and targets to sustain and improve the business operating capabilities for the NA region.
  • Lead regional improvement to standardized system processes, work standards and methods to support the sustainment and governance of all aspects of the manufacturing process systems. 
  • Lead projects/themes of varied complexity and scope through collaboration with team (plant, IT, regional engineering) including current system enhancements and feasibility studies for future products. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IT/Engineering/MFG) to ensure system standards are created, documented and sustained.
  • Lead regional process systems and standardization collaboration activities with stakeholders for NA region through regular meetings 
  • Set goals, track deliverables, manage expectations and workload, identify risk and mitigate across all stages of assigned systems tasks and projects.
  • Mentor and assist in the development of team members.
  • Effectively sell ideas, collaborate and build consensus across HDMA/Div/Dept./Unit.  

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (related discipline as appropriate) or equivalent related experience
  • 8+ years relevant experience, preferably manufacturing experience with a focus in process engineering area
  • In-Depth understanding of manufacturing processes. (AF, PA, WE, ST)
  • Working knowledge of the following systems is desired (PDDA, EOS, MDRS)
  • 3+ years of experience leading teams
  • Strong verbal and written skills to communicate effectively both with customers and internal project teams

Job Purpose

Develop the North America Quality Management System (QMS) including identification/resolution of business practice concerns, assuring compliance to ISO9001, and assuring compliance to government Conformity of Production (CoP) requirements. 
 
Key Accountabilities

  • As a regional function, develop, maintain, and assure adherence to the North American Quality Management System (QMS) through leadership of the Regional Quality Standardization committee.
  • Identify and resolve issues to improve business practices involving QMS compliance by leading working groups with QMS representatives and subject matter experts.
  • Integrate requirements for improvements from internal sources such as ISO9001 compliance audits, risk assessments, and regular PDCA, as well as external sources such as normal warranty issues, recalls, government audits and external ISO9001 compliance audits.
  • Strategically lead the development of solutions through guided expert recommendations to plant and business unit QMS representatives while building horizontal consensus across all HDMA locations for consistent application. 
  • Build consensus with all levels of management in the North American factories and business units to determine how to change business operations to improve quality.
  • Good understanding of Global Honda Quality Standards (GHQS) and how they apply to North America.
  • Develop clear QMS supplements, standards and procedures.
  • Compliance with ISO9001
  • Lead auditor for ISO9001 internal audits and support external audits.  
  • Negotiate with auditors on technical merits of C/M ideas.
  • Create analysis reports.
  • Lead and direct other departments to investigate/resolve non-conformities.
  • Review and confirm effective countermeasures for audit results.
  • Compliance with Government Regulation 
  • Develop control plans to assure compliance to government Conformity of Production (CoP) requirements for countries requiring CoP or applying UN regulations (EU, China, Russia, Japan, Australia, Mexico, Morocco, Tunisia, etc.).
  • Collaborate with factory Assistant Chief Inspecting Engineers (ACIE’s) to implement control plans and prepare for government audits.  
  • Lead government audits to allow sale of our products in countries requiring CoP.
  • Develop countermeasures to identified Gov't Regulation conformity concerns using Honda problem solving methods.
  • Regional System Owner / Administration
  • Administer and maintain systems required to manage the QMS, audit plans, non-conformities, training, and records (IntellaQuest: ISOQuest, DocuQuest, PeopleQuest, RecordQuest, AuditQuest, etc.).
  • Plan and implement improvements with suppliers and Honda IT.

 
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; or equivalent and strongly-related experience
  • 8+ years of related experience
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems, ISO9001, and Related Government Regulations.


 Workstyle

Job Description

Manage and coordinate all aspects of quality assurance activities with various levels of risk and complexity within a variety of scopes across a single site / multiple sites and / or single or multiple customers . Confirm requests for quality support from the site and communicate policies and procedures. Expert regarding selected governmental regulations for the site(s). Proactive liaison with customer for quality assurance across site(s). Develop, manage, and oversee site quality resources. Support global and cross-sector Quality and Regulatory initiatives, as required. Support validated processes as applicable for regulated hardware, equipment, and software systems.

* Oversee the maintenance and continuous improvement of the overall quality system, including management review, CAPA management, internal quality audits, quality self-assessments, change control, document control, and standard operating procedures/work instructions.
* Oversee the licenses, permits, and registrations process.
* Manage and provide oversight for regulatory compliance with regards to products handled and services performed at site by assessing performance to cGxP, the contract (OSA, QAA/ TA), and customer requirements as applicable; reporting the results to executive management
* Ensure that systems and equipment are validated (if applicable) and change control processes maintained
* Hire, train, and develop quality associates.
* Monitor the training and development of site associates to ensure compliance to processes and regulations.
* Work in coordination with continuous improvement team to focus/direct continuous improvement activities/workshops
* Review and provide recommendations on regulatory, customer and 3rd party audits.
* Review and identify trends within the quality assurance metrics for the organization.
* Primary customer contact for QA related issues/initiatives as needed.
* Develop, distribute and maintain regular management reports
* Manage site suppliers and prepare, receive, and act on audits
* Provide Business Development support and represent DHL in customer events and meetings as required

Required Education and Experience

* Bachelor Degree or equivalent 4 years work experience, required
* Certification related to quality control, preferred
* 3+ years experience in a regulated environment OR ISO 9001 compliant or certified, required
* 1+ years of supervisory or management experience, required
* Manufacturing, Food, Life Sciences, or 3PL Industry experience, required
* Participation in successful standards organization registration in a complex environment
* Supervising or implementing quality control programs
* Knowledge of regulations such as FDA, GxPs, ATF, DEA, etc.
* Administrator of training in compliance to regulated standards

Responsibilities:

* Provide leadership to a Quality Assurance (QA) team, cultivating a culture of excellence, and continuous improvement through the strategic use of AI technologies to drive efficiencies
* Develop and implement comprehensive QA strategies and plans that align with KPMG's quality standards and compliance requirements, ensuring robust quality management across all projects while leading and engaging with Agile program increment planning; review and validate QA estimations, deliverables, test plans, and outcomes to ensure accuracy, and effectiveness
* Oversee and execute projects embedded in both Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines; manage and coordinate stakeholder engagement, setting clear expectations, and providing regular governance updates, status reports, and issue escalations
* Utilize automation and AI tools to enhance cost efficiency, and reduce effort in testing processes, adopting new technologies to improve team productivity
* Work collaboratively with various teams and departments to ensure quality standards are uniformly applied across the organization; manage QA resources in both onsite and offshore models, optimizing resource allocation to improve operational effectiveness
* Review regularly and present key metrics, KPIs, risks, and challenges to stakeholders, using these insights to continuously improve QA processes

Qualifications:

* Minimum eight years of recent experience in quality assurance; minimum three years of recent experience in a managerial role, demonstrating strong strategic, and leadership capabilities
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred; Master's degree from an accredited college or university is desired
* In-depth knowledge of testing, test estimation, and defect management, with experience in tools like Selenium, JIRA, Katalon, JMeter, LoadRunner, and SeeTest
* Familiarity with GenAI technologies for Quality Assurance, including OpenAI, Agentspace and Copilot, is preferred; experience in Agile or other rapid application development methodologies; proficiency in testing web, desktop, and mobile applications
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to effectively engage cross-functional teams and senior management; strong analytical, research, documentation, project planning, and implementation skills, with the ability to perform complex data analysis
* Proven leadership and management skills, with a strategic mindset and the ability to influence organizational priorities; high level of attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring the highest quality standards

Kanawha Scales & Systems is a leader in the weighing industry, dealing in scale distribution, sales, installation, calibration, service, systems integration and data collection, fabrication, parts, and material handling. They are looking to hire a full time Quality Assurance Manager. The company currently operates branches in 19 locations throughout WV, OH, KY, PA, TN, VA, and AL, and is aggressively expanding their operations through acquisitions. We also design and manufacture specialty bulk material weighing and loading systems and weight testing vehicles and equipment, some of which are manufactured in house, some through fabrication subcontractors and other suppliers.

About the role

The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager will oversee the activity of the existing quality management systems and work with the company's management team to expand and continuously improve quality systems and processes through all operations of the organization, as well as through the supply chain. This position requires knowledge of ISO 17025, effective communication and leadership skills, and the ability to motivate others. Experience with ISO 9001 will be beneficial for our engineered production operations. Travel is required for this position.
  • Manage the existing Quality Management Systems (ISO 17025)
  • Continuously evaluate, improve, and communicate quality standards to branch level QA members, sales team, technicians, and other appropriate staff.
  • Ongoing communication with management regarding related to company quality operations and issues
  • Conduct quality training for compliance with the QMS
  • Coordinate and run proficiency testing
  • Lead internal audits; assume role of lead auditor
  • Host external audits (customer and accreditor)
  • Ensure all customer quality requirements are met for jobs and projects
  • Maintain quality program records to customer satisfaction
  • Maintain ongoing understanding of and compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and organizational laws, regulations, guidelines, and policies as they may relate to quality aspects.
  • Assess and maintain communication with vendors and subcontractors regarding quality issues
  • Maintain continuous improvement/non-compliance program logs.
  • Manage and run preventive action program
  • Work with management to develop and improve quality standards and processes for non-service aspects of the business (such as engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, and assembly operations), which may include ISO 9001 aspects, and oversee the compliance to developed quality standards
  • Perform all other tasks related to the quality department not mentioned above.
