**Job Description**
The purpose of this position is to manage the Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) function to create and sustain a productive work culture and safe work environment in order to avoid and minimize HSE related problems. - Run gap analyses to identify and address program gaps that may occur between Company practices, client requirements, and regulatory/legislative requirements in order to confirm that the project conforms to Company, client and regulatory/legislative requirements
- Initiate, foster and maintain HSE standards and goals through Company and/or project wide HSE programs to heighten awareness and promote a safe and productive work environment

**Basic Job Requirements**

The Industrial Safety Specialist will be an integral part of the day-to-day operations to provide EH&S Leadership and supporting all employees on site. **Minimum Requirements:**

+ In addition to education requirements, 5 years of experience in an occupational safety role in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
+ Experience using software to enter and interpret safety-related data.
+ Experience effectively delivering training to multiple levels of personnel.
+ Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

The Associate Laboratory Directorate for Environment, Safety, Health, Quality, and Safeguards and Security (ALDESHQSS) has a need for a operational Industrial Hygiene and Safety Professional to support LANL programs and projects at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) through the LANL Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Division. Reporting to the IHS Manager, the Industrial Hygiene and Safety (IHS) Professional will be responsible for developing, recommending, and implementing programs and procedures associated with the recognition, measurement, evaluation, and control of potential health and safety hazards. The IHS Professional will provide daily industrial hygiene and safety support to programmatic and facility organizations to ensure the protection of workers, compliance with Laboratory S&H requirements, and mission success. The IHS Professional will use professional concepts and Laboratory objectives to resolve complex issues in creative. The industrial hygiene and safety (IHS) Professional 1 is an entry-level professional who develops, reviews and supports the implementation of programs and procedures associated with the recognition, measurement, evaluation, and control of potential health and safety hazards. The IHS Professional 1 may provide daily industrial hygiene and safety support of programmatic or facility work and/or may manage and administer one or more low-risk institutional industrial hygiene and safety programs or services.
As an entry-level professional, the IH/S Professional 1 is expected to acquire professional experience by applying DOE Orders, relevant external regulation, and Laboratory procedures to help ensure that work is conducted safely and compliantly. The IH/S Professional 1 is expected to use and apply standard principles, theories, concepts and techniques as recognized within the industrial hygiene and safety profession to resolve an assortment of problems of moderately complex scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. The IH/S Professional 1 is expected to build productive internal working relationships to accomplish required tasks under the direction and supervision of senior professionals or line management. The IH/S Professional 1 receives detailed instructions on new projects and assignments and work in progress is reviewed for accuracy, soundness of judgment, and overall adequacy. **What You Need**
**Minimum Job Requirements:**
+ Working knowledge of DOE and/or regulatory requirements related to industrial hygiene.
+ Basic knowledge of industrial hygiene/safety-related risk assessments and corrective actions.
+ Working knowledge and application of techniques and procedures for industrial hygiene exposure assessment (both qualitative and quantitative), to include sampling and sampling techniques/instrumentation, sample analysis, and selection/implementation of controls.

Position Summary Responsible for tasks in relation to ensuring the facility is kept neat and clean, both inside and on outer grounds. Reports deficiencies, including required maintenance for building, racking, shelving, and equipment to management. Expected to be able to perform all aspects of the job as described below.   This position is for the swing shift with the hours of 11am-7pm.   Areas of Responsibilities

• Keep aisles and work areas clear and free of debris, spills, shrink wrap, boxes, etc.
• Maintain cleanliness standards of breakroom and restroom areas.
• Maintain health of motorized equipment through watering, cleaning, and charging.
• Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a deadline driven environment.
• Able to work independently.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

   Essential Job Functions

• Dispose of trash and recyclable materials (i.e., cardboard) in compactor or baler.
• Routinely check, monitor, and empty waste bins.
• Safely manage the day-to-day inspection and basic maintenance of the motorized equipment with regularly scheduled waterings, cleanings, and charging.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance. Work extended hours, as required by operational needs.

  Working Conditions

• The warehouse is a non-climate-controlled facility. The outside temperature generally reflects the inside temperature with little air circulation. Must be able to work in a warehouse environment with exposure to dust.
• Exposure to various cleaning supplies and chemicals will be experienced throughout the work shift.  PPE will be provided.
• Must be able to wear safety glasses, safety vest and any other personal protective equipment as required for the facility/work area (i.e., gloves, safety shoes).

This is a site-based role based about 55 miles from Idaho Falls, ID at the Naval Reactors Facility on the Idaho National Lab. This position requires 95% outdoors and 5% office/administrative duties.
The candidate will start on the night shift doing environmental work and then transition to a safety role in winter.
Typical duties include:
Investigates accidents to determine causes; prepares reports of investigations for use in recommendation of preventive measures and the development of safety programs
Inspects worksites; prepares reports with recommendations for corrective actions
Uses industrial hygiene monitoring equipment to test working areas for noise, toxic and other chemical and physical hazards
Observes craft work to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
Provides/develops technical safety training
Conducts safety management training for supervisory and management personnel
Assesses safety and health program performance; identifies trends through data analysis.

+ Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial safety and environmental experience is required.
+ High School diploma or equivalent required. Degree in Health and Safety management preferred
+ Related working experience on large job sites related to project / building construction highly preferred.
+ Good written and verbal communication skills required
+ Experience functioning as safety professional in industrial construction environment essential
+ Professional health and safety certification CSP preferred
+ First Aid, CPR or OSHA training preferred.
+ Degree in Health and Safety management preferred
+ Ability to work different shifts as needed by the project
Essential Functions: Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 50 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried of 100 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. No foot controls necessary. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, continuous need to walk on uneven ground thus good balance and the ability to traverse construction site environment a must, potential exposure to dust, gas or fumes, noise, extremes in temperature (heat and cold) or humidity, and potential work at heights.
