With limited direction, this position exercises considerable latitude for initiating and developing designs, procedures, techniques and solution to resolving advanced technical engineering problems. **Job Qualifications:**
+ Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; twelve or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, ten or more years of experience with a masters degree, or seven or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
+ Design, prototype, build, and test fiber lasers suitable for space and airborne applications.
+ Hands-on experience building high-power fiber laser systems, operating fiber optic equipment, and laboratory equipment such as beam profilers, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers.
+ Design and conduct laboratory experiments; and perform characterization and analysis to validate against system level requirements.
+ Knowledge of laser physics, nonlinear optics, waveguide optics, laser communication, and free space beam propagation
+ Experienced in the development, build, and test of laser/optical systems
+ Experience with optical fiber system build and integration, including fiber splicing, laser integration, optical testing and electronics/mechanical integration.

The Senior Laser Packaging Engineer at Daylight will be responsible for supporting the design and analysis of laser and photonic products. They should have a strong understanding of die bonding, vacuum reflow bonding, wire bonding, and adhesive bonding. **A Day in the Life**

This Principal Engineer will be responsible for the development of laser based processes through release to manufacturing. The Engineer will lead process development and process improvement projects to support cutting edge technology in laser joining and laser cutting of metal and glass materials. Process development work scope may span across multiple process areas with a primary focus in laser equipment. They will coordinate risk burn down and problem-solving experiments by utilizing DRM/DFSS (Design and Reliability for Manufacturing / Design For Six Sigma) and data driven methods. They will also be responsible for managing the validation activities for the development work including requirements flow down, effective control and monitoring strategies and ensuring compliance to regulations and safety for our patients.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
+ Lead the innovation, development and/or optimization of new manufacturing concepts, processes and procedures for transfer to manufacturing operations.
+ Champion the use of Design for Reliability and Manufacturing (DRM) and data driven methods through process development
+ Work with process owners and product development teams to define robust process flows for new products
+ Work with technology development to understand new process technologies for research and development towards release to manufacturing operations.
+ Own requirements flow down from product design to process development, including working with process owners to disposition inputs / outputs to deliver efficient, cost effective and robust control and monitor strategies
+ Own equipment scouting, down selection, qualification and characterization.
+ Own process characterization and process validation activities to ensure maturity and stability of processes when released to manufacturing.
+ Own the interfaces and interactions between processes and determine product integration risks
+ Lead risk assessments and risk burn down activities for process interfaces and interactions
+ Provide input into product and process design based on an understanding of the integration risks
+ Applies statistical methods and science-based decisions to design experiments and implement improvements
+ Coordinate and/or perform necessary experiments and product builds to establish robust processes
+ Implement and own yield monitoring systems and procedures for equipment and processes developed
+ Monitor, root cause and resolve process yield issues during product and process development
+ Lead the identification and implementation of corrective actions for yield issues in collaboration with process owners and product engineers
+ Reviews product development requirements for compatibility with processing methods to determine costs and schedules
+ Interacts with product design and development personnel to ensure that processes and designs are compatible
+ Generates and maintains documentation per quality system regulations
+ Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations
**Must Have: Minimum Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 7 years relevant hands-on experience with laser systems and optical components or advanced degree plus a minimum of 5 years relevant experience with laser systems and optical components.
**Nice to Have**
+ Experience in laser applications, including laser selection, optics package selection and ideally in joining, cutting, and marking
+ Experience with G-code or other programming languages to support laser system recipe development
+ Experience with DRM / Design for Six Sigma, Lean Sigma, or Green/Black Belt Lean Sigma certification
+ Knowledge of DOE, statistical analysis methods and data analysis tools (Minitab, JMP, etc.)
+ Strong problem-solving skills
+ Experience with wafer fabrication processes
+ Experience in developing a process from concept to transfer in manufacturing and/or experience
+ working in a high-volume manufacturing environment
+ Advanced degree in Physics, Optics, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or similar discipline

Insight Global's industrial manufacturing client is looking for a Laser Field Service Engineer to join their IMO Division. This job requires traveling to customer locations to repair or modify Komatsu/NTC laser equipment and provide technical support to customers. Responsibilities include:
* Travel to customer's location and repair the machine - if necessary, supervise the repair using subcontractors and/or customer's maintenance people. Perform PM inspections. (20%)
* Calculate and prepare accurate quotations for service to customers - includes contacting subcontractors and preparing their estimate into our quote for service. Prepare and present final reports to customers including inspection reports. (20%)
* Provide warranty service and support. (20%)
* Contact customers on a regular basis for customer relationships. Promote service and parts sales. (15%)
* Provide technical phone support. Supply the customer with viable product information to repair their equipment. (10%)
* Support new machine installations. (10%)
* Communicate with Komatsu Japan. Speaking and writing Japanese is an added benefit for this position (not required). (5%)

Skills and Requirements
Must Haves:
* Associate's Degree with emphasis in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
* 1-2 years of experience in laser maintenance, Electrical Engineering background.
* Valid driver's license and active passport for travel.
* Knowledge of MS Office Suite, interest/ability to learn other software programs.
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to read assembly and individual blueprints.
* Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
* Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
* Ability to understand mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings/diagrams/schematics. Knowledge of electrical tools (e.g., multimeter).
* Physical demands: stand, sit, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk, hear, taste or smell.
