We are seeking a dynamic Powertrain Project Lead to support high time in service (HTIS) quality projects using DFSS and 8D processes. This role is crucial to achieving aggressive timelines concerning warranty spending and failure rate reduction targets.
Responsibilities
+ Rapidly progress through DFSS phases: Define, Characterize, Optimize, Verify, including root cause identification and verification.
+ Evaluate subsystems with high warranty spend or failure rates, focusing on design-related issues, supplier quality, or manufacturing defects.
+ Analyze warranty data and trends, along with part returns, to identify root causes.
+ Identify and verify root causes, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
+ Design, execute, or coordinate analytical and physical testing from component bench level to full powertrain/vehicle testing.
+ Regularly interface with quality and core engineers to report project status and results to management.
+ Develop relationships with dealerships and fleets to resolve quality issues swiftly related to warranty and repairs.
+ Understand various types of repairs and establish work plans, follow up, and aggressively reduce timelines to fix issues.
+ Lead and attend team meetings.
+ Document lessons learned for knowledge preservation.
+ Proactively follow through on responsible activities along with required documentation to meet milestones and deliverables.
Essential Skills
+ Warranty and failure mode analysis.
+ Experience in resolving customer concerns and problem-solving.
+ Automotive powertrain experience or knowledge.
+ Project management skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 2+ years of experience for intermediate level or 5+ years
+ Demonstrated automotive experience with a detail-oriented focus in powertrain engineering, warranty, and manufacturing.
+ Experience working with warranty issues and failure model analysis.
+ Worked in resolving customer concerns in a timely manner.
+ Experience in quality improvement projects using DFSS, 8D, or other Six Sigma processes.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for presentations and project tracking activities.
+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant field.
Work Environment
The role involves working closely with dealerships and fleets, interfacing regularly with quality and core engineers, and participating in team meetings. The work environment is fast-paced and requires proactive follow-through to meet milestones and deliverables.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $44.50/hr.
