We are looking for a Chemist II in 3600 Eagle Nest Dr, North Building, Crete, IL 60417 USA. Your mission will be to:
- Looking for someone with Microbiological and/or PCR experience
- Provide guidance to departmental personnel on analysis procedures and the correct preparation of samples.
- Analyze and interpret data and correct discrepancies before results are released or issued to clients. Ensure data is established in compliance with method requirements
- Performs analyses with instrumentation (GC, LC, ICPMS, Protein, Fiber, etc.)
- Utilize various instruments such as HPLC, GC, ICP, and ICPMS to determine the concentration of desired components in samples.
- Prepare materials and samples for analysis and perform sample analysis
- Prepare standards and reagents that are needed for the analysis procedure.
- Maintain laboratory instruments in working order and make any minor repairs that are necessary.
- Initiate and investigate customer complaints and non conformances. Determine root cause and corrective action.
- Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) required to complete job responsibilities.
- This position has the responsibility and authority to identify departures from the quality system or test procedures and document such observation accordance with the prescribed complaint system.
- Be able to perform a new method with minimal input from supervisor.
- Keep up-to-date on assigned training.
- Maintain equipment records in the appropriate software systems. Meet the housekeeping schedule on time.
- Wash glassware as needed and prepare samples as needed.
- Responsibility to support laboratory management in the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the management system.
- Perform other related tasks as needed
Basic knowledge of food science is helpful to analyze the chemical content of samples. A broad knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and policies is necessary to ensure a safe working environment. Associates degree required, Bachelors preferred.
Required skills: Two - five years experience. This position requires a general knowledge of chemistry to perform analyses, obtain correct results and interpret data. A basic knowledge of instrumentation and theory including HPLC, GC, and AA is helpful.
Work Environment: The incumbent works in a laboratory setting with proper lighting and temperature control. Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials will occur when in the laboratory. Safety equipment of gloves, laboratory coat and eyeglasses may need to be worn depending on the testing process. The incumbent may use the autoclave daily to complete the analysis process. Continuous lifting of analysis materials weighing up to 50 pounds are necessary to transport media materials. The incumbent can expect extended time spent in a standing position. The incumbent should be able to detect slight variation in shades of colors.
Compensation:
$24.00 - $25.00 per hour

Principal Function :
The Cook II position performs as a mid-level short order or grill cook among its peer cook positions. - Manage the facility in the absence of the Administrative Team, utilizing the Duty Administrative Officer for direction and guidance.
- Coordinates transportation of residents to and from work locations, medical appointments, and recreational activities; maintains accurate vehicle records and reports.
- Ensures that proper security, sanitation, and safety requirements are met; maintains surveillance of residents; supervises resident counts, searches for contraband, and the distribution of medication.
- Provides instruction to residents and subordinate staff on emergency procedures; advises supervisor of any emergency situations as they arise.
- Provide guidance to residents on personal matters, public transportation, parole requirements and other areas as required.
- Take responsibility and accountability for the performance of coordinator duties by appropriate staff.
- Immediately notify DAO or CAO anytime a resident test positive for drugs or alcohol or if drugs or alcohol are found in the facility. The DAO or CAO will report the incident to IDOC and confirm that the incident is reportable and who should receive the incident report.
- Send an incident report within one hour of a reportable incident to the IDOC team and local Safer staff.
- Provide immediate notification to the DAO or CAO when there is a major incident in the facility, such as, fighting, or medical emergency. The DAO or CAO will confirm that the incident is reportable and which IDOC staff members should receive the report.
- Ensure that all reportable incidents are reported within one hour after occurrence.
- Prepare and hold roll can daily, conduct uniform inspections, issue warrants, adhere to reporting protocols, make critical decisions, submit reports, monitor count procedure and review documentation daily, and complete daily staff evaluations in a timely manner.
- Attend all scheduled mandatory meetings and training. Be an example of professionalism to staff working under supervisor. Provide assistance, training, and guidance to CRCl staff regarding local policy, departmental rules, and administrative directives.
- Act as liaison between CRC1s and facility program staff, maintenance staff, administrative staff, executive staff, and outside law enforcement agencies when necessary. Oversee and supervising cleaning and Safety and Sanitation.
Stakeholder Outreach and Recruitment
- Attend all required training sponsored by IDOC and the Safer Institute, including Managers' Forum Develop and complete annual goals accordance with Community Corrections Initiatives
- Plan, schedule and conduct various staff training programs ensuring that all ATC staff are familiar with and competent to observe all applicable directives and procedures and that Safer's mission is fulfilled.
- Serve as the technical and procedural point contact for trainees.
- Participates in the orientation of new facility residents; ensures that residents have been advised of and adhere to rules and regulations of the facility.
Tracking, Document and Reporting
- Conduct and submit timely midyear and annual evaluations on direct reports and participate in designated Supervisory Review Sessions.
- Develop and complete annual goals in accordance with Community Corrections Initiatives.
- Proficiently utilize technology platforms for implementation of data in a timely and accurate manner.
- Reviews reports prepared by assigned staff such as resident count sheets, medication logs and sign out sheets; prepares and maintains records and reports of any unusual resident activities.
Fiscal Reporting and Accountability
- CRC IIs will assume the role of Trainer/Auditor as needed and wm be responsible for planning and conducting operational and financial audits and staff training programs at Safer's Adult Transition Centers and ensure that ATC audits and training systems maintain compliance with the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC), American Correctional Association (ACA) and Safer Foundation standards.
Supervision
- Supervises the activities of staff on an assigned shift; assigns duties, provides coaching and development and schedules workloads; Pre-approves and submits time off requests for staff. Participates in the selection of CRC I staff.
- Review staff attendance monthly, make recommendations for staff discipline and or recognition. Conduct and supervise shakedowns of residents' rooms, common area, drug test and conduct strip searches of residents. Oversee inmate movement, monitor use of restraints, monitor use of the armory and holding cells.
- Supervise CRCl's during daily operations, review logbooks, review reports submitted by staff Review, assign, and monitor tasks completed by staff. Oversee all scheduled activities during the shift. Demonstrate proficiency in the use of computers, e-mail Securmanage and Salesforce.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Hands-on experience and self-sufficiency with Microsoft productivity tools, including Outlook (for email), Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), and online collaboration tools (video conferencing, Zoom/Teams, messaging).

Job Description: Performs basic to advanced inpatient and outpatient sleep disorder studies. Studies include preparation and testing of patients as well as data tabulation, test scoring and preparation of reports.
Major Responsibilities:
- Selects and applies special monitoring electrodes, bands, thermistors, and other monitoring probes to appropriate areas of the patient's body. Prepares positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fittings. Schedules and discusses the test process with patients, ensures their knowledge of the process, and answers their questions. Educates physicians and patients on sleep medicine.
- Follows sleep procedures to establish and document baseline values such as body position, movements, oxyhemoglobin saturation, respiratory and heart rates.
- Scores sleep/wake stages and with the generation of accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical event data such as respiratory events, cardiac events, limb movements, arousals, etc.
- Implements appropriate interventions including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention such as continuous (CPAP) and bi-level (BIPAP) positive airway pressure and oxygen administration.
- Performs procedures and therapeutic interventions such as auto servo ventilation (SV) titrations, average volume assured pressure support (AVAPS), multiple sleep latency testing (MSLT), maintenance of wakefulness testing (MWT).
- Performs set up and scoring of home sleep tests. Performs polysomnographic data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to recognize and eliminate all artifacts observed during the test.
- Follows wake procedures to verify integrity of collected data and complete the data collection process e.g. repeat the physiological and instrument calibrations and instructs the patient on completing questionnaires.
- Sets up video and audio monitoring apparatus.
- Prepares and calibrates equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning and signals. Keeps the equipment in clean operating condition, detecting instrument malfunctions, making minor adjustments, and reporting the need for major repairs. Monitors equipment supply levels and maintains appropriate equipment at hand.
- Serves as a technical resource, role model and/or preceptor for students and staff and acts as a resource to staff both at own facility and throughout system.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA), and
- Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) registration issued by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT), or
- Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) certification issued by the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM), or
- Registered Respiratory Therapist-Sleep Disorders Specialty (RRT-SDS) certification issued by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program.
- Typically requires 2 years of experience in a polysomnographic technician role.
- Must meet the AASM standard of 80% proficient in scoring with interscore reliability.
