WHAT WILL YOU DO:

This position excels in teamwork. The Cook II will be the Lead at the stations. Prepares and follows daily prep sheets and recipes according to Chefs and FoodPro. In addition to "other duties as assigned", this position may be required to be cross trained for another position and/or responsibility in order to provide both backup for a department as well as to supplement resources needed during certain times of the year.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Shares recipe corrections to proper staff members.
  • Works stations with a friendly and welcoming attitude.
  • Works stations in a clean, organized, and sanitized manner.
  • Utilized FIFO inventory practices, correct product labeling, and storage guidelines.
  • Assists in maintaining food storage areas in a clean, organized, and sanitized fashion.
  • Accurately adheres to and completes food production and service records.
  • Completes and follows up on station checklists, side duties, and special clean ups as assigned.
  • Adheres to set guidelines, policies, and time schedules.
  • Prepares the next shift for success.
  • Responds to customer needs with feedback to applicable personnel.
  • Inspects food storage areas to reduce food waste and makes sure areas are in compliance with health code guidelines and department standards.
  • Ensures the utilization of LeanPath for all discarded food waste by self and other staff, including Cook I's, Temporary Staff, and Students.
  • Reports to proper staff member equipment concerns.
  • Assists in the training and development of new employees.
  • Participates in ongoing development and food safety training for staff.

Minimum Requirements:

They will also be knowledgeable about overall organizational activities and functions to independently perform assigned duties and responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Billing and Invoicing: Prepare billing statements and invoices for third-party sponsor accounts. This includes coordinating accounting processes such as reviewing and validating Sponsored Billing (SB) authorizations, auditing and adjusting sponsor and student accounts, following up on past due receivables, and reconciling SB accounts and sponsored student accounts monthly.

Scholarship Payments: Audit and process departmental scholarship payments. Post accounting transactions to transfer funds from department general ledger accounts to the University tuition and fee receivable accounts.

Compliance Monitoring: Track SB authorizations, billing, payment activities, and accounts receivable transactions to ensure compliance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures. Recommend strategies to improve overall operations and services.

Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports related to sponsor billing. Assist in writing, reviewing, and implementing operating procedures and training guides for Accounts Receivable operations.

Problem Resolution: Analyze and resolve complex questions and issues related to student account receivables. Provide support to Enrollment Services staff and academic departments regarding student accounts. Assist in training new and existing staff members.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across various departments, including Financial Aid, Registrar, Admissions, and Undergraduate Affairs, to ensure seamless operations and support for students. Participate in financial literacy initiatives, coordinating efforts during orientation and throughout the year. This includes one-on-one counseling and workshop presentations.

The Accountant II will perform the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly reconciliations, including but not limited to bank statements, investment accounts receivable, accounts payable, and fixed assets.
  • Compile, analyze, research, reconcile, and report on ledger activities for assigned areas
  • Research and respond to inquiries and provide information to aid with problem resolution
  • Serve as audit liaison with Internal and External auditors and coordinating with departments to ensure audit deadlines are met
  • Assist with financial planning for the college, preparing financial reports, and adhering to all applicable federal, state, and institutional regulations, procedures, and reporting requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller.

Minimum Qualifications

The Accountant II must have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience in general ledger accounting. Supervisory experience in accounting is preferred.
  • Communicate effectively (verbal and written) with all management levels within the Institution as well as key individuals in other organizations/agencies to provide maximum support to students, faculty, and others being served by the Institution.
  • Knowledge of accounting, budgeting, general business programs, policies and procedures is required to ensure effective/efficient use and distribution of financial and other resources.
  • Knowledge, understanding, and business application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Ability to respond effectively to numerous and varied situations, analyze issues, and respond quickly and correctly to resolve problems and support the needs of students, faculty, staff, and others on the Institution.
  • Analytical abilities required in presenting budget status summaries/reports and recommending alternatives to improve services for students, faculty, & staff and to enhance campus facility.
  • Knowledge of other Institution departments and personnel required to ensure support for the Institution and effective coordination with other external resources, as necessary.
  • The Accountant II must be a "team player" with the desire to promote the entire Institution and all its programs through energetic and effective coordination with applicable Institution departments and appropriate external organizations and agencies.
  • Excellent listening skills and trained abilities to adapt to a dynamic environment and progressive organization.

Service Excellence

Position Information

The purpose of this classification is to conduct general accounting and financial activities involving accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, journal entries, bank reconciliation, maintenance of records, budget preparation and other financial activities. Essential Functions

Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining and completing employee performance appraisals; conducts interviews and makes hiring recommendations; coordinates staff training.

Coordinates daily work activities; organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; consults with assigned staff, assists with complex/problem situations, and provides technical expertise.

Processes documentation relating to accounts payable functions; reviews invoices for accuracy, matches with related documentation, and researches discrepancies; codes invoices for assignment to proper budget accounts; completes and mails jury vouchers; enters invoice data into computer; assists in generating accounts payable checks and matching with invoices; obtains signatures and mails to vendors; processes voids, errors, or stop payments as required; prints copies of cleared checks from bank software for vendors and employees; maintains files/records; communicates with vendors to research problems or discrepancies.

Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, checks, vouchers, account history reports, invoices, utility account lists, outstanding check lists, general ledger edit reports, fixed asset reports, financing statement forms, spreadsheets, or other documents.

Communicates with supervisor, employees, other departments, banking personnel, insurance agents, vendors, the public, state/federal agencies, outside agencies, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.

Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, standards, and guidelines; reads professional literature; attends seminars, workshops, and training sessions as appropriate.

Attends meetings, participates on committees, and makes presentations as needed.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

Performs general/clerical tasks, which may include answering telephone calls, scheduling meetings, ordering supplies, making copies, sending/receiving faxes, filing documentation, or processing incoming/outgoing mail.

Job Summary

Battelle is seeking a Chemist to work in the Emergency Response Branch at the CDC. The Emergency Response Branch (ERB) develops and performs unique laboratory tests to assess chemical exposures during a public health emergency or terrorist event. In a public health emergency, the rapid detection and accurate identification of causative chemical agents can be crucial for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Additionally, ERB develops solutions and support laboratory surveillance for overdose and mental health. ERB measures multiple biomarkers in clinical samples using a variety of analytical techniques and provides technical support to state public health laboratories. The selected applicant will serve as a team member in the Toxins and Drugs of Abuse Laboratory within ERB providing needed analytical testing, method development, data reporting, and data management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist to develop new qualitative high-resolution LC-MS based methods for confirming exposures to toxins, chemical weapons, and drugs of abuse from clinical samples
  • Collect, document, and review High-resolution MS spectra, following established protocols
  • Coordinate and manage reference materials inventory and diluted solutions for future access and traceability of materials and spectra to expand Library repository for open access. Involves the use of DEA restricted materials.
  • Contribute to building and utilizing computational resources to mine available high-resolution MS data.
  • Serve as a primary analyst for CLIA-compliant clinical assays based on high-resolution LC-MS
  • Serve as a primary user for high-resolution LC-MS systems, responsible for coordinating maintenance, ensuring compliance with quality requirements, and monitoring ongoing performance
  • Maintain a safe working environment and follow applicable safety guidelines
  • Maintain a laboratory notebook, prepare project reports, documentation, and slides as needed
  • Report results through peer-reviewed scientific articles
  • Adhere to the universal precautions regarding the handling of biological samples and biological waste
  • Adhere to CDC/NCEH/DLS and CLIA 88 guidelines with regard to laboratory protocols and quality control
  • Adhere to the CDC/NCEH/DLS policy of treating all data as confidential
  • Adhere to the CDC/NCEH/DLS and Battelle policy of laboratory safety and security
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings and discussions, prepare professional business communications, and work collaboratively with others in a team environment
Key Qualifications
  • PhD or MS level or equivalent chemist with relevant experience in analytical chemistry, clinical chemistry, metabolomics, clinical forensics, or related scientific fields
