Job Summary:
Trane Technologies has an exciting opportunity for an onsite position in our Engineering Test Laboratory (Lab) in La Crosse as an Electromechanical Product Development Technician II. Your primary function in this support role is to aid in testing setup of New Products in Development (NPD), Sustainability, and Quality improvement projects, in addition to some agency compliance. Your technician role would support qualifying Trane Applied Compression and Commercial Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and Heat Pump products. Current demand is also supporting large commercial chiller development to cool industrial data centers supporting AI functionality. The job requires problem solving, troubleshooting, and collaboration with other lab and engineering team members to ensure timely completion of projects. This position is salaried non-exempt.
What you will do:

Work safely and maintain a safe work area in accordance with company policies and procedures

Support product development activities by operating commercial HVAC equipment, controlling test facilities, and collecting experimental test data, with modest guidance from senior laboratory staff

**Level II: 86,900- 130,400**

**Levels Overview:**
**Level I:**
The Project Manager I serves as the primary point of responsibility for smaller-scale or less complex projects. This role focuses on assisting with project management activities and supporting cross-functional teams to achieve objectives.
**Level II:**
The Project Manager II independently manages moderately complex projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. This role involves leading teams, managing vendors, and refining PMO tools and practices.
**Level III:**
The Project Manager III leads complex projects with significant scope and organizational impact. This role requires advanced expertise, cross-functional leadership, and strategic collaboration with senior leadership.
**Senior Project Manager:**
The Senior Project Manager leads enterprise-level projects and programs that drive organizational strategy and innovation. This role includes portfolio management, mentorship, and strategic contributions to the PMO.
**Essential Job Functions:**
**Level I:**
+ Assist with project planning, scope development, and resource coordination.
+ Support cross-functional teams and manage project documentation.
+ Deploy foundational PMO tools and provide basic health reporting.
+ Participate in training initiatives to build project management skills.
**Level II:**
+ Independently manage moderately complex projects with cross-functional teams.
+ Refine project scopes, budgets, and vendor relationships.
+ Utilize PMO tools to monitor project health and performance.
+ Contribute to process improvement within the PMO.
**Level III:**
+ Lead complex projects with significant organizational visibility.

**Senior Project Manager:**

**Minimum Qualifications:**
**Level I:**
+ Bachelor's degree in project management, business, finance, engineering, or a related field.
+ Basic understanding of project management principles and tools.
**Level II:**
+ Bachelor's degree in relevant field with **3+ years of experience** .
+ Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
**Level III:**
+ Bachelor's degree in relevant field with **5+ years of experience** .
+ Advanced expertise in managing complex projects and cross-functional teams.
**Senior Project Manager:**
+ Bachelor's degree in relevant field with **8+ years of experience** (Master's preferred).
+ Expert-level knowledge of program and portfolio management.
**General Requirements for All Levels:**
+ PMP certification preferred (strongly preferred for Senior level).
+ Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.

**Where is the work:**
Due to the nature of this role, this position has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule with work performed onsite 3 days each week.
**What you will do:**
+ Develop 1D steady-state and transient models for refrigeration, electrical, and other HVAC&R subsystems.
+ Maintain and enhance in-house modeling tools with a focus on usability, accuracy, and performance.
+ Apply modern simulation techniques and software engineering principles to improve modeling workflows.
+ Stay current with advancements in modeling technologies and incorporate them into existing tools and processes.
+ Support cross-functional teams by providing training and technical guidance on simulation tools.
+ Collaborate with systems engineers to integrate modeling tools into model-based design (MBD) and product development processes.
+ Understand lab testing methods and contribute to model validation efforts.
+ Prepare technical documentation, project schedules, and stakeholder presentations to communicate progress and outcomes.
**What you will bring:**
+ Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
+ At least 1 year of experience in HVAC&R product design and simulation.
+ Proficiency with modeling tools such as Dymola, MATLAB/Simulink, GT-Suite, or similar platforms.
+ Strong foundation in thermal sciences including thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
+ Familiarity with HVAC&R systems and components such as residential A/Cs, heat pumps, chillers, rooftops, and transport refrigeration.
+ Programming experience in Python, C/C++, Modelica, M-code, and Fortran for maintaining and developing simulation capabilities.
+ Exposure to software development tools like Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies along with experience with optimization techniques, numerical methods, and data analysis is a plus.
**Compensation:**
Base Salary: $84,650 - $112,850
