The Opportunity:

This position is located in the Fraud Section of the Department of Justice, Criminal Division and supports the Market Integrity Major Fraud Unit. As a Litigation Support Analyst, you will work closely with trial attorneys in fast-paced setting to assist with investigation and prosecution of fraud including in courtroom support. It is an ideal opportunity for individuals beginning a career in the legal field.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform legal and administrative duties requested by attorneys

  • Utilize eDiscovery platforms to perform document review, communicating summaries and analysis of findings

  • Organize and prioritize numerous tasks effectively and completes tasks under strict time constraints

Pay Range:

This posting is for a position covered by the Service Contract Labor Standards (SCA). Under the direction of an attorney, resolves routine legal issues, researches and analyzes law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions and legal codes to prepare legal documents, such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, contracts, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Loads, organizes, and processes incoming Electronically Stored Information (ESI), documents, and other discovery produced in Affirmative Civil Enforcement (ACE) investigations and cases using automated software systems.

  • Assists in tracking, organizing, and managing documents in document review platforms such as Everlaw, Relativity and Eclipse. Performs a wide variety of tasks such as assisting and training Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) and agents in gaining access to and using those platforms, creating complex searches and queries, creating tags, and assisting in production of documents from those databases; review and analyze documents in document review platforms, and then create written summaries or chronologies of those documents; and assist AUSAs with trial preparation and running trial presentation software.

  • Works with AUSAs, investigators, federal agents, and support staff to determine the most effective strategy to meet litigation needs.

  • Reviews and analyzes documents produced in discovery or in response to subpoenas and Civil Investigative Demands, including but not limited to creating queries, tagging documents, and writing up analyses, summaries, and chronologies of reviewed documents.

  • Reviews investigative reports, transcript testimonies, interview reports, ESI, and documents for a variety of civil cases to become familiar with the issues and identify pertinent material.

  • Assists and/or trains AUSAs, USAO support staff, investigators, and agents in organizing voluminous case information for efficient retrieval through automated means such as scanning, indexing, and controlling of documents into a database. Ensures that documents are organized for efficient automated storage and retrieval by preparing appropriate indices, defining data file search criteria, and indexing/coding fields. Monitors the progress of computer data entry effort. Logs, organizes, and tracks all discovery and non-discovery materials using various software review programs (i.e., Everlaw, Eclipse, Relativity, Excel, Word).

  • Identifies software packages such as: databases, spreadsheets and word processing applications based on the effectiveness of presenting complex and voluminous evidence, producing graphic demonstrative evidence, and meeting individual user needs.

  • Uses software programs to assist AUSAs in presentations (i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, CaseMap, Trial Director).

  • Prepares witness books, exhibit lists, witness lists, and exhibits for submission to court to be utilized at trial and hearings, and synchronization of exhibits with Trial Director for exhibition in the courtroom. When necessary, coordinates with vendors to ensure that exhibits are prepared in a timely fashion.

  • Performs work that involves communicating through visual means. Determines the placement and appearance of visual materials that will most effectively convey the information to the court, jury, and/or witnesses. Prepares photo boards, maps, charts, and other demonstrative exhibits required for litigation.

  • Uses Trial Director (or other trial presentation software) during trials. Prepares computerized trial presentation programs. Ensures computers and DVD/TV recording equipment is in place in courtrooms. Operates systems in the courtroom as needed. Troubleshoots all technical issues related to computerized presentation of exhibits.

  • Trains AUSAs, USAO support staff, and agency personnel on a wide range of court-related software and the use of such software prior to and during trial.

  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

The Litigation Support Analyst (Information Technology I) serves as a specialized IT professional within the Department of Law’s Information Technology Unit. This position is responsible for implementing, configuring, and supporting a range of litigation-focused technology systems, with an emphasis on electronic discovery (eDiscovery) platforms, trial presentation technology, and data infrastructure solutions used throughout the litigation lifecycle. This role ensures that IT standards and best practices are applied across litigation support systems, electronic discovery platforms (Relativity, Everlaw, and iPro), and data workflows to meet the evolving needs of legal teams. The position serves as a key technical resource, providing consultation on technology selection, data processing, database configuration, and digital evidence management, while helping attorneys, paralegals, and investigators work more efficiently and defensibly.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Litigation Support Analyst performs work across the DOL to support litigation teams in the areas of project management, electronic discovery (data ingestion, database design, review workflows, searching, analytics and document production), consultation, trial equipment set up, and general issues that relate to legal technology, ensuring work of teams is efficient and effective.

Duties include but not limited to the following:

eDiscovery and Data Management

  • Implement electronic discovery solutions by determining the best workflows for data retrieval, processing, storage schema, site configuration, workspace troubleshooting, and workflow management

  • Work closely with attorneys, investigators, and IT professionals to align discovery strategies with legal objectives and technical capabilities.

  • Maintain detailed documentation of workflows, search protocols, and production logs to support transparency and defensibility in litigation

  • Assist teams with language to request preferred file formats and technical specifications from opposing counsel or client agencies to ensure compliance with internal systems and minimize post-processing needs and production errors

eDiscovery and Litigation Technology Training & Compliance

  • Facilitate technical training as needed on eDiscovery platforms and other legal technology to end users across the department

  • Present training sessions to litigation teams—including attorneys, investigators, and paralegals—on the use of new or enhanced legal technologies, including eDiscovery platforms, trial demonstration software, and other litigation technology as needed

  • Design and update training materials, job aids, user guides, and reference documentation tailored to specific legal technologies and user roles

  • Address and explain complex processes in non-technical language to ensure comprehension and confident use by legal staff

Trial Technology Support

  • Provide onsite, advanced technical support and systems integration services for trial preparation and courtroom proceedings, ensuring the reliable operation and compatibility of all litigation technology tools

  • Coordinate and test courtroom presentation systems, including monitors, audio/visual components, and annotation tools, to ensure functionality prior to trial

  • Loads, organizes, and processes incoming Electronically Stored Information (ESI), documents, and other discovery produced in Affirmative Civil Enforcement (ACE) investigations and cases using automated software systems.
  • Assists in tracking, organizing, and managing documents in document review platforms such as Everlaw, Relativity and Eclipse. Performs a wide variety of tasks such as assisting and training Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) and agents in gaining access to and using those platforms, creating complex searches and queries, creating tags, and assisting in production of documents from those databases; review and analyze documents in document review platforms, and then create written summaries or chronologies of those documents; and assist AUSAs with trial preparation and running trial presentation software.
  • Works with AUSAs, investigators, federal agents, and support staff to determine the most effective strategy to meet litigation needs.
  • Reviews and analyzes documents produced in discovery or in response to subpoenas and Civil Investigative Demands, including but not limited to creating queries, tagging documents, and writing up analyses, summaries, and chronologies of reviewed documents.
  • Reviews investigative reports, transcript testimonies, interview reports, ESI, and documents for a variety of civil cases to become familiar with the issues and identify pertinent material.
  • Assists and/or trains AUSAs, USAO support staff, investigators, and agents in organizing voluminous case information for efficient retrieval through automated means such as scanning, indexing, and controlling of documents into a database. Ensures that documents are organized for efficient automated storage and retrieval by preparing appropriate indices, defining data file search criteria, and indexing/coding fields. Monitors the progress of computer data entry effort. Logs, organizes, and tracks all discovery and non-discovery materials using various software review programs (i.e., Everlaw, Eclipse, Relativity, Excel, Word).
  • Identifies software packages such as: databases, spreadsheets and word processing applications based on the effectiveness of presenting complex and voluminous evidence, producing graphic demonstrative evidence, and meeting individual user needs.
  • Uses software programs to assist AUSAs in presentations (i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, CaseMap, Trial Director).
  • Prepares witness books, exhibit lists, witness lists, and exhibits for submission to court to be utilized at trial and hearings, and synchronization of exhibits with Trial Director for exhibition in the courtroom. When necessary, coordinates with vendors to ensure that exhibits are prepared in a timely fashion.
  • Performs work that involves communicating through visual means. Determines the placement and appearance of visual materials that will most effectively convey the information to the court, jury, and/or witnesses. Prepares photo boards, maps, charts, and other demonstrative exhibits required for litigation.

**The Opportunity:**
This position is located in the Fraud Section of the Department of Justice, Criminal Division and supports the Market Integrity Major Fraud Unit. As a Litigation Support Analyst, you will work closely with trial attorneys in fast-paced setting to assist with investigation and prosecution of fraud including in courtroom support. It is an ideal opportunity for individuals beginning a career in the legal field.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Perform legal and administrative duties requested by attorneys
+ Utilize eDiscovery platforms to perform document review, communicating summaries and analysis of findings
+ Organize and prioritize numerous tasks effectively and completes tasks under strict time constraints
+ Work on multiple cases simultaneously and multi -task with minimal supervision
+ Travel to site for hearings, discovery and trials and operate electronic courtroom aid during trial to assist in presentation of evidence
**Qualifications:**
_Required:_
+ Three years of experience on major litigation support projects or undergraduate degree
+ Highly organized and demonstrated ability to work independently in a team environment
+ Must have excellent writing skills and oral communications capabilities
+ A knowledgeable user of the Government's office and network environment, including but not limited to word processing, spreadsheet and hardware system
+ Deliver consistent high-quality wok product in a deadline driven environment under extreme pressure
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of applications and Adobe Acrobat
+ DOJ MBI must be obtainable (US Citizenship required)
_Desired:_
+ Automated litigation Support experience
+ Document review and Relativity experience
+ eDiscovery experience and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks similar to the duties and responsibilities described
