SUMMARY

Manage special projects, oversee GPO/Co-Op management activities, and manage analysis for State/Local Government customers. Will also be responsible for providing strategic direction, guidance and support, ensuring accountability for meeting or exceeding the operational objectives and priorities as they relate to State/Local Government customers. Take ownership of driving and optimizing value add programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Own the State/Local Government customers segment by working with Leadership to design and execute a plan of action to drive business results
  • Provide recommendations and advanced critical thinking to identify improvement opportunities across State/Local Government.
  • Work with Leadership to identify and develop new programs aligned to drive value and address industry issues for State/Local Government customers
  • Support efforts related to GPO and Co-Op contracts for EMS and State/Local Government customers. Ensure contract pricing and terms are managed accordingly to maximize sales and profitability.
  • Monitor product costs and margins and works with product divisions and sales on improvement opportunities
  • Collaborate with Medline representatives and existing customer relationships to understand areas to improve
  • Analyze ordering patterns to identify potential opportunities for product conversions and rate changes
  • Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales. Set the prioritization of initiatives and projects.
  • Responsible for ongoing reporting and management: Budget vs Spend, Competitive Pricing, Overall Performance Metrics
  • Collaborate with Leadership to ensure that both strategic and tactical plans are aligned with the long-term strategy by creating and owning the business planning as they relate to State/Local Government.
  • Track and record activity on accounts to ensure sales targets and goals are met.
  • Meet with finance regularly to review profitability improvement opportunities, this may include evaluating the overall profitability of a group or individual customer
  • Identify underperforming customer relationships and work across departments to improve performance and profitability
  • Develop and execute on a one-year and three-year business plan that ensures short-term and long-term growth and profitability
  • Support field sales team on large projects; system account setup, coordination of activities associated with onboarding new customers and substantial business wins (conversion activities) and ensure accuracy of account customer types through ongoing management.

The anticipated salary range for this position:
$96,200.00 - $144,560.00 Annual

The actual salary will vary based on applicant's location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. This role is bonus and/or incentive eligible. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.

**Job Summary**
Responsible for assisting the VP, State & Local Government Relations with the development of state & local government relations strategy; developing political strategy for the greater New England Region; communicating with contract lobbyists, associations of which Walgreens is a member, elected officials and their staff members, interest groups and agencies to convey the company positions on issues.

Massachusetts / Vermont / New Hampshire / Rhode Island / Connecticut / Maine
**Location** : Remote-WFH within the Boston/New England Region
**Job Responsibilities**
+ Develops and executes, in collaboration with the VP of state & local government relations, a comprehensive engagement strategy that represents the entirety of Walgreens' business. Plays a significant role in developing and executing legislative strategies, monitors legislation and oversees corporate initiatives and community investment activities to achieve the Company goals and business objectives. Develops short and long-range strategies to manage critical federal issues.
+ Builds effective working relationships with key elected and appointed officials and staff. Collaborates on cross-functional leadership teams to develop company business policies and strategies for growing the business while maneuvering in a rapidly evolving competitive environment. Provides leadership and direction for diverse and complex functions. Contributes to the development of the organization's business strategy. Interprets business strategy and develops organizational objectives to align with this strategy.
+ Assists with building brand awareness and developing relationships with a broad array of other key stakeholders, including think tanks, industry and political groups.
+ Monitors legislation and regulation and independently analyzes the impact on all of Walgreens' business including the identification of opportunities and risks; and effectively communicate those items to internal and external stakeholders in a timely manner.
+ Develops and execute legislative and regulatory response strategies
+ Provides input into and plays a significant role in executing Walgreens' government relations strategies and initiatives to achieve the company's policy goals and business objectives.
+ Maintains a proactive awareness of developments in legislative, lobbying, competitor practices, and general industry trends that could impact the conduct of business by the Company and takes appropriate actions to positively impact such activities. May prepares collateral and support materials such as comment letters, policy papers, testimony, presentations, and advocacy memos.
+ Works collaboratively with internal business units to advance business development and operational efficiency goals leveraging Government Relations tools.
+ Works with business units to mitigate competitive, contractual, brand and other risks as needed.
+ Works with State/Federal Government Relations teams to coordinate activities across states and between state and federal governments

**External Basic Qualifications:**
