We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our procurement team as a Senior Strategic Buyer - Warehouse (3PL). In this role, you will be responsible for managing the procurement process for third-party warehousing services. Your primary focus will be on sourcing, selecting, and negotiating contracts with third-party warehouse providers to ensure efficient and cost-effective storage and distribution of goods. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including logistics, operations, IT, and finance, to meet the company's warehousing needs and drive cost savings.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Category Strategy Development
+ Create and present annual category strategies aligned with business goals using the 7-step sourcing process.
+ Build strategic supplier relationships to foster collaboration and innovation.
+ Identify and execute cost-saving and simplification initiatives; track and report savings.
+ Ensure Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) are in place for assigned indirect categories.
+ Share supplier-driven innovation opportunities with Procurement and Supply Chain teams.
Request for Proposal (RFP) Process
+ Develop and issue RFPs detailing warehousing requirements.
+ Evaluate proposals for pricing, capabilities, and service levels.
+ Lead negotiations to secure favorable terms and reduce Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
Vendor Sourcing and Selection
+ Source and assess third-party warehouse providers based on business needs.
+ Conduct market research to identify trends, best practices, and cost-saving opportunities.
+ Maintain a qualified network of reliable warehouse partners.
Contract Negotiation and Management
+ Negotiate and finalize contracts and SLAs with selected providers.
+ Partner with Legal and Finance to ensure compliance.
+ Monitor vendor performance and resolve contractual issues as needed.
Stakeholder Management
+ Act as the main contact for warehouse providers.
+ Build strong vendor and internal relationships to ensure smooth operations.
+ Lead performance reviews and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
Compliance and Sustainability
+ Stay informed on market trends, regulations, and risks affecting assigned categories.
+ Ensure alignment with internal policies through cross-functional collaboration.
+ Support sustainability goals by partnering with suppliers on carbon reduction initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
EXPERIENCE:
+ Minimum 5 years of experience in the Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, or Supply Chain fields preferred
+ Experience in SAP, Power BI and other advanced data analytics tools preferred
+ Experience in Microsoft; Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required
SKILLS:
+ Proven experience in procurement, ideally in warehousing or logistics.
+ Strategic thinking and long-term category planning experience required.
+ Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
+ Strong negotiation, contract management, and analytical skills.
+ Familiarity with warehousing operations and strategic sourcing practices.
+ Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities including presenting to senior leadership.
+ Demonstrate strong collaboration skills and the ability to effectively engage with logistics procurement team and global cross-functional teams
The approximate pay range for this position is $90,107 to $116,792. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.

As a Sr. Industrial engineer at a 3M distribution center, you will play a pivotal role in driving operations excellence across our distribution centers. **Supply Chain Network Optimization** : Lead and model network optimization scenarios, redesign distribution networks to improve cost efficiency, accuracy and through put.

**Cross-Functional Collaboration** : Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Operations, IT, and Supply Chain, to ensure seamless integration of industrial engineering solutions and alignment with broader business goals.
**Financial Responsibility** : Manages financial aspects of a project team, including estimating expenditures, contributing to the creation of AFE, purchasing materials and/or services, monitoring and tracking costs, and payment. Proficient in engineering, sourcing, and financial systems to stay within established budget guidelines
**L** **eadership:** Manages business relationships across multi-disciplinary teams. Provides guidance and training to interns, new hires and other engineers. Participates in and leads teams. Applies working knowledge of key corporate initiatives and appropriate tools. May participate in or lead standards/guidelines teams.
**Your Skills and Expertise**
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in industrial/manufacturing engineering, operations research, statistics, or business from an accredited institution
OR
+ High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution and a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in logistics in lieu of the bachelor's degree education requirement
AND
+ Five (5) years of experience in network optimization within a distribution, supply chain, or logistics environment in a private, public, government or military environment
+ Five (5) years of experience in Supply Chain Network Optimization tools such as Llamasoft Supply Chain Guru, Optilogic, JDA Strategist or Gurobi and industrial engineering methodologies.
+ Three (3) years of experience proficiency level in ETL tool such as Alteryx or TableauPrep, and SQL, analytics and project management tools.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
+ Master's degree from an accredited institution
+ Distribution Automation technologies, labor management systems
+ Familiar with Lean Six Sigma and facility design tool (AutoCAD,)
+ Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated ability to analyze complex systems and processes, identify inefficiencies, and develop innovative engineering solutions to drive improvements
