A manufacturing company in Northbrook is looking for a temporary Logistics Specialist to support a fast-paced department. The Logistics Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day import and export transactions as well as record keeping and regulatory compliance. This role includes executing international freight contracts, managing ocean providers, data analysis, logistics invoice processing and managing international trade compliance, as well as ongoing international logistics services. Primary Responsibilities: Responsible for maintaining internal controls program to ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of imported/exported products. Interface with internal/external customers, foreign subsidiaries, distributors, vendors, brokers, and carriers to ensure compliance with all applicable import/export regulations. Maintains compliance with international trade compliance programs such as C-TPAT. Manages inquiries, performs research, and provides guidance to business personnel to address and solve purchase compliance issues based on the needs of the business including post entry filings, assist filings, harmonized tariff schedules and resolving duty discrepancies. Transportation planning including providing key data elements such as development of transportation lanes and rates. Day to day management of ocean carriers and forwarders. Working with providers to develop processes and procedures to address all facets of ocean freight shipments. Expedite shipments for buyers and request ocean and air freight quotes for import and exports shipments. Manage invoicing review and processing for all logistics providers. Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree with focus on Business, Logistics, International Trade, or related field. 5+ years of experience relating to trade compliance and logistics. Preferred Certified Customs Specialist (CCS)/Certified Export Specialist (CES) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification not required. Interpreting import/export laws, rulings, regulations and translating them into reasonable business practices. Demonstrated knowledge of Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification and Free Trade Agreement (FTA) qualification. Relevant work experience with specific understanding of supply chain and logistics concepts. Haz-Mat experience. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, etc.). We are seeking a highly organized and results-driven Logistics Manager to oversee service inventory operations in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico about 450 service technicians and 125 forward stocking locations. The role involves managing the Logistics Analysts team to ensure timely availability of service parts, while optimizing costs and maintaining high service standards.
This team member will be responsible for managing all service inventory, ensuring that stock levels meet fill rate targets for Burroughs-owned, customer-consigned, and customer-owned inventory. Responsible for ensuring that all physical inventory and audit procedures are followed. Responsible for all inventory within assigned territory averaging about 450 technicians and 125 storage locations.
Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management
- Monitor stock levels to ensure optimal inventory availability to prevent overstock or stockouts
- Implement inventory control systems including Just-In-Time(JIT) and automated replenishment processes
- Conduct regular audits to maintain inventory accuracy across all locations
- Plan and coordinate transportation, warehousing, and distribution strategies to streamline supply chain.
- Optimize service inventory and reverse logistics using Netsuite, Baxter, and Oracle Field Services for cost efficiency and SLA attainment.
- Collaborate with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams to ensure seamless inventory flow.
- Analyze customer service and inventory metrics to improve customer experience, reduce inventory balances, and/or reduce expenses.
- Work with Field Service Managers to deliver action plans to improve inventory performance metrics.
- Prepar performance metrics to internal and external stakeholders.
- Supervise logistics analysts, providing training and development opportunities
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards
- Other related tasks as assigned.
- Oracle, SAS, Netsuite or other major inventory modules preferred
