Job Summary

The Logistics Coordinator oversees the transportation of our products from one location to another, such as from our manufacturing facility to warehouses or warehouses to customers. To do so, they will arrange product pickups and deliveries with transportation companies to meet the needs of our internal teams and customers.

Daily responsibilities will incuse processing orders and managing the cycle of order fulfilment from order receipt to order delivery. The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for making sure products are processed through the delivery and warehouse system efficiently and safely. The Logistics Coordinator collaborates with internal operations teams, external vendors, and customers to achieve efficient supply chain outcomes such as on-time delivery, high case fill rates, high accuracy rates, and supply chain cost management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning and Management: Develop and implement strategies for logistics, warehousing, transportation, and customer service operations.
  • Supporting migration/process improvement efforts migrating from a manual tendering process to TMS/systems solutions
  • Order Cycle Coordination: Direct, optimize, and coordinate the full order cycle to ensure efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Issue Resolution: Proactively resolve problems or complaints as they arise, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Performance Targets: Meet established targets for cost, productivity, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Data Analysis: Maintain metrics and analyze performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and ISO requirements in all logistics operations.
  • Technology Utilization: Leverage logistics IT systems to streamline and optimize procedures.
  • Communication: Collaborate effectively with logistics partners, internal stakeholders, and customers to achieve profitable business outcomes and mutual satisfaction.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service, addressing and resolving issues promptly.
  • Reporting: Prepare accurate reports for operations and sales teams, facilitating informed decision-making.
Food Safety Responsibilities
Traceability Support:

Assist in ensuring finished product traceability through the following:
  • Maintaining cold chain specifications is critical in this role to ensure product arrives to customers in spec
  • Review warehouse shipping documents for accuracy.
  • Monitor finished goods inventory levels and manage shipment processing and delivery timelines.
  • Maintain an inventory catalog, including offsite storage.
  • Plan and coordinate the transportation of materials and the timely flow of customer orders.
  • Track shipments according to customer requirements, keeping detailed records of warehouse stock and executed orders.
  • Analyze late orders, mis-shipments, and delivery performance.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; further education is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or customer service environments.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in frozen order logistics
  • Experience in the food manufacturing sector is preferred.
  • Proven experience in logistics management or related fields.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities to resolve exceptions efficiently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and ERP systems such as Netsuite or Oracle.
  • Outstanding problem-solving and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with agility.
  • Strong prioritization skills and the ability to meet deadlines consistently
Expected Pay Range

Working Conditions

The starting pay range for Minnesota is $70,000 to $90,000 per year. The Senior Logistics Manager is an important and integral component of the Street Factory production system. The manager is responsible for the management and scheduling of logistics team members, accurate quoting and planning of shipping needs, ground operations setup and strike for all incoming and outgoing project assets, and location and management of SFM facilities.

The Senior Logistics Manager is also responsible for managing and scheduling the fabrication queue. This involves monitoring the shops overall fabrication load, helping producers manage client expectations and ensuring SFM products are completed on time.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES LOGISTICS
  • Pre-production
    • Creation of accurate plans and estimates pertaining to: packing, shipping and
      installation, strike, storage, disposal of every project at SFM.
  • Shipping and Handling
    • Coordinating with producers, designers, and fabricators to ensure logistics staff are delivering all assets and materials arrive in excellent condition to the designated locations on or before their designated deadline.
    • Purchasing of all shipping materials for all projects.
  • Field Management Oversight
    • Coordinate with producers to ensure setup and strike teams will be in place and with clear work plans.
  • Facilities management: Storage / Disposal / Maintenance
    • Oversee the efficient and organized use of SFM properties.
    • Develop specific plans for the complete break-down of all incoming shipping assets.
    • Liquidate any unneeded SFM property
    • Reduce general waste with local donation companies.
    • Maintain accurate deadlines for client stored assets to ensure payment, or disposal at the end of the storage term.
  • Fleet Management
    • Work directly with the Fleet Manager to ensure vehicles are kept up to date with maintenance.
    • Maintain and update a fleet calendar to better forecast our vehicle needs and ensure no vehicles are double booked.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES SCHEDULING
  • Ensure timely production workflow for all ongoing SFM fabrication projects
  • Plan and prioritize operations to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay
  • Determine manpower, equipment and raw materials needed to cover production demands
  • Assign workers and other staff to particular production operations
  • Identify problems and help improve by implementing processes
  • Monitor jobs to ensure they will finish on time and within budget
  • Triage last minute edits and changes, plan for minimum disruption
  • Assist producers with managing client expectations by preparing and submitting ongoing status and performance reports
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3-5 year relevant experience
  • Proven experience in logistics and supply chain management
  • Strong skills in inventory management and control

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead with a safety mindset that ensures that every US Foods associate, our customers, and the general public with whom our drivers interact remain injury free, always. Champion safety procedures, processes and training to create and maintain a safety-first culture in the Transportation department.
Oversee and develop drivers and Transportation associates through one-on-one coaching, training on policy and procedures, assisting in problem resolution when required, and leading by example. Ensure all drivers and other Transportation department associates are appropriately trained in job duties as well as safety and legal responsibilities.
Oversee and develop drivers and Transportation associates by discussing performance with Sr. Transportation Managers and creating plans to address gaps.
Create an atmosphere in which upward communication is encouraged, and motivate associates to achieve department goals and objectives.
Direct and supervise the work and productivity of drivers and clerical associates within the Transportation department. Drive associate engagement and retention, and create a culture that embodies US Foods values.
Build high-performing teams by participating in interviewing and hiring Transportation personnel, in conjunction with Sr. Transportation Managers. Review performance, coach on service and safety targets, and deliver disciplinary action.
Monitor production goals and maintain a zero-error attitude to ensure accuracy and customer satisfaction. Anticipate, analyze and troubleshoot problems with deliveries and devise cost-effective and legal solutions; act to implement same. Ensure team understands and adheres to DOT regulations.
Identify and stop waste, and improve processes to complete work more safely and efficiently.
Conduct routine Safety and Driver Meetings.
Oversee maintenance of driver qualification files.
Investigate all accidents, maintain an accident file, track causes and take appropriate preventative action.

Effectively schedule working shifts by leveraging appropriate planning tools (i.e., Microsoft Excel)
Other duties assigned by manager.

Direct: Union and/or non-union Drivers

RELATIONSHIPS
Internal: Transportation leaders and coworkers; Drivers; Warehouse leaders; Internal customers across departments (e.g., Sales)
External: Customers

WORK ENVIRONMENT
May spend significant amount of time on the road. Must spend portion of working time in a truck with drivers, exposed to noise and vibration levels which may be higher than those typically experienced in passenger cars. Will spend time in an office working on a computer.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Related Experience/Requirements:
Minimum of three years of experience in transportation/delivery or warehouse distribution required.
Minimum of one year of experience overseeing a workforce required.
Experience as a driver a plus.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Broad knowledge of transportation/delivery operations, methods and procedures.
Strong leadership, communication and people development skills.
Strong understanding of DOT requirements. Familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
Ability to interpret financial and operational data.
Basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office).

Travel:

10% travel required, typically for mandatory meetings and/or training. ?


Education/Training:
High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
