We are in need of Logistics Volunteers to work locally with the opportunity to deploy nationally. You will complete required training and commit to shift work determined by the scale of the relief operation. Shifts during an operation are an average of 8-12 hours per day.
You will be responsible to
·Receive and deliver material supply requests from congregate shelter sites
·Develop strong relationships with shelters and deliver customer-centric solutions
·Organize and load supplies into delivery vehicles
·Provide feedback on unmet shelter needs to supervisor
·Help shelter sites monitor inventory levels and project future material requests
·Drive larger vehicles to deliver materials to shelters (e.g., 16’ box trucks, cargo vans, etc.)
·Participate in all staff meetings and review and complete daily reports as requested
·Efficiently report the status of assigned responsibilities and tasks
·Ensure that work is carried out in alignment with our fundamental principles and within established guidelines
·Responsibilities may vary by assignment and size scope of the Disaster Response.

Qualifications:
• CDL Class A required
• Currently hold, or ability to obtain, a non-excepted interstate DOT medical card required
• 1 year of documented tractor-trailer experience in the last 3 years required, or 2 years of documented tractor-trailer experience in the last 5 years
• 3 years DMV/MVR record with two or fewer moving violations or accidents
• In order to be compliant with federal law (49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2)), this role requires English language proficiency
• Work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening required.
• This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation or designated as safety sensitive by the company, and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is required. The Electric Boat Supply Chain Organization is hiring Subcontract Buyers responsible for coordinating and executing the procurement of materials and services in support of various Submarine programs. This position works closely with internal stakeholders and the supply base to ensure cost-effective, timely and efficient delivery while adhering to strict quality and procedural requirements. This position is located in-person and on-site in Groton, CT. This position allows for some flexibility of hybrid work schedule, with the normal work week being fully in the Groton, CT office.
Responsibilities:
- Source highly technical requirements in accordance with company policies & procedures, Government regulations, and customer needs to ensure on time and high quality delivered material and/or services
- Evaluate and select suppliers based on performance, cost, quality, and delivery considerations
- Negotiate prices, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve the best value
- Author clear and comprehensive contracts and supplements, including pre-defined provisions and bespoke prose
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including FAR/DFAR, ITAR, and other Government, customer and organization defined statutes
- Understanding process/problem resolution time-lines, monitor and communicate material/service delivery schedules
- Manage multiple suppliers to ensure they meet quality, schedule, and purchase order requirements
- Maintain communication with Quality and other organizations to assess supply chain health and risk
- Manage complex projects by pro-actively resolving issues related to quality, delivery, etc.
- Align supplier invoicing and payment with performance of key milestone events
- Individually and as part of cross-functional teams, identify process improvements and cost savings opportunities
- Interpret various metrics and prioritize to meet department and company objectives
- Maintain accurate and complete records, including all required documentation and correspondence
- Obtain and maintain purchase order signing authority via acceptable ratings through internal audit and first time quality
This position is for various Purchasing Managers within the Electric Boat Supply Chain Organization.
*If you are hired in to this position you may undergo a cohort training program and then it be determined which Purchasing group, you will be placed in based on business needs and the alignment of your skills to their needs.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree & 2+ years of demonstrated experience in project management (i.e. previous supplier management, construction management, or running team projects within an organization) OR Bachelor's degree or higher in Supply Chain Management (may include minor major) & 0-4 years of experience
- Ability to travel via plane to supplier /sub-tier facilities, as required based on business needs.
- Strong negotiation skills, with ability to achieve favorable terms and conditions for the company & customer
- Excellent communication skills, especially written, with ability to interact effectively via various channels
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, (i.e. pivot tables) and Word (i.e. writing letters, editing documents)
- Strong analytical skills, with ability to analyze and interpret data to support decision making
- Ability to manage stress, stay calm and focused, and make sound decisions in a fast -paced and rapidly changing situation
- Ability to work overtime, as required
Preferred Requirements:
- Previous Electric Boat Buying Experience or Bachelor's degree or higher in Supply Chain Management (may include minor major)

You'll work alongside operations leaders to understand how products move through our supply chain - from inbound freight to outbound delivery - and how safety, efficiency, and accuracy drive success at scale. This internship is based at our facility in Plainfield, Connecticut. Our distribution centers are a space where safety meets efficiency, featuring state-of-the-art equipment, well-maintained work areas, and a culture that puts your wellbeing first. **What You Will Learn**
+ Develop leadership skills by assisting supervisors and observing daily operational management.
+ Learn distribution center fundamentals, including receiving, picking, packing, and shipping processes.
+ Understand safety and compliance protocols critical to supply chain operations.
+ Participate in process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy.
+ Gain experience using operational performance metrics to evaluate productivity and quality.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve challenges and improve outcomes.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in supply chain management, business, industrial engineering, or related field.
+ Expected graduation dates of December 2026, May 2027, December 2027, or May 2028.
+ Effective verbal communication skills.
+ Physical stamina to alternated between sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods.
+ Ability to wear equipped PPE and work a full shift with meal break.
**Preferred Skills/Experience**
+ 3.0 cumulative GPA.
+ Proficient in MS Office programs (specifically in Power Point, Excel and data analysis tools).
+ Strong interpersonal, collaborative, innovative problem solving, analytical thinking, organizational and communication skills.
+ Relevant internship or experience in supply chain, logistics, or operations is a plus.
+ Experience in a leadership position at work or within a campus organization.

Lifting and moving merchandise methods will vary depending on role of associate, weight of merchandise, and/or volume of product; associates must follow lifting guidelines. A single lift by one associate should not exceed 75 pounds (for Store associates) or 70 pounds (for Distribution Center associates) with or without an accommodation. Team lifts should be utilized minimally starting at 75 pounds (for Store associates) or 70 pounds (for Distribution Center associates), or when an individual feels a lift is beyond their personal limitations.
