OTRs product portfolio includes tires, wheels, assemblies, tracks, tubes, ballast, and more. Their tire line-up comprises over 1,700 models and 300+ distinctive treads, with bias and radial pneumatic versionsdirectional and non-directional; semi-pneumatic; solid; non-marking; and airless. The portfolio also includes over 1,000 wheels, with single- and multi-piece versions in steel and aluminum, as well as cast disc units. In total, there are over 100,000 standard items to choose from at OTR; many of which can be customized for unique applications. OTRs deep product offering is complemented by a wide range of services; including tire mounting, warehousing, foam-fill (via a wheel exchange program), tire liner, wheel inspection/certification, and subassembly that can be customized according to customers specific needs.
The Role: OTRs Vice President of Supply Chain (VPSC) will report to the EMD for US and Mexico, and is responsible for providing technical expertise and leadership for planning, organizing, and directing the overall success of OTRs Global Supply Chain. Annual purchase volume is in the range of $300 million. Based in Rome, GA, the VPSC will oversee 3 direct reports in the U.S. with a total team of 16 employees in US. The VPSC will coordinate with the EMD regularly on the specific results required to support OTR and departmental objectives.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Procurement & Inventory Control:
- Oversees the activities in procurement and inventory planning of materials, equipment, and services.
- Leads projects to optimize procurement of key materials to deliver significant savings to the company.
- Responsible for supplier performance in alignment to corporate objectives, to ensure continuous improvement, on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness, and cost reduction.
- Leads or directs major contract negotiations with critical suppliers to secure consistent supplies & competitive prices.
- Reviews supply requirements and develop policies and procedures for the purchasing and materials planning areas.
- Responsible for hands-on material planning, ERP maintenance, and supplier forecasting and capacity planning.
- Works closely with functional groups to balance customer responsiveness with capacity and material constraints.
- Responsible for meeting inventory turns and inventory accuracy targets.
- Create/implement policies/procedures to meet standards & maintain physical to logical integrity at material flow points.
- Ensures that work instructions and docs are developed/maintained and direct reports are trained appropriately.
- Directs implementation and management of customized replenishment/stocking programs for selected customers, with the objective to design and implement a program that will improve product availability to the customer and at the same time increase production and inventory efficiencies.
- Monitors inventory levels by class monthly, revise targets, and ensure compliance with each inventory owner.
Logistics & Distribution:
- Assists with the coordination of logistics including the flow of goods between the point of origin and the point of utilization in the most efficient and cost-effective manner to meet the requirements of customers.
- Coordinates the transfer of raw products and materials from suppliers to operations, where and when they are needed, for production and labeling.
- Together with Operations, coordinate and optimize all in-house inventory movement & warehouse utilization (internal/external).
- Leads the Logistics Team in the development of the most optimal transportation plans, ensuring prompt, accurate, and cost-appropriate inbound and outbound shipments.
- Synchronizes with the Manufacturing & Operations Team(s) to optimize material workflow.
Planning & Scheduling:
- Oversees planning and scheduling while working with demand planning and customer service to schedule production and labeling to meet customer requirements, as well as coordinate with procurement and logistics to supply the inputs required to meet the schedule.
- Together with Operations, oversee inventory control while improving the companys cash position by efficiently managing inventory while still maintaining very high standards of customer service.
- Ensures every step of the process is functioning effectively to avoid costly delays and lost sales opportunities.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelors Degree (required) and Masters Degree (preferred) from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in managing and/or supporting the supply chain operations of a corporation (preferably in manufacturing and/or distribution).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role.
