We are looking to expand our growing in-house Market Research team (currently six people) with a Market Research Manager specializing in Healthcare & Life Sciences.
This role is primarily internal-facing, focused on supporting consultants in their day-to-day research needs. You will also have opportunities to contribute externally by providing strategic insights to clients, advising on research approaches, and explaining the value of various qualitative and quantitative methodologies.

- Leverage your market research expertise to help consultants execute quantitative (80%) and qualitative (20%) research for our Healthcare & Life Sciences practice.
- Partner with consultants to define project objectives, scope, and research design that align with the client's business needs.
- Manage the bid solicitation, vendor selection, and vendor onboarding process on a project-by-project basis.
- Draft, review, and optimize screeners and surveys to minimize bias, improve respondent experience, and ensure compliance with best practices.
- Advise teams on advanced methodologies (e.g., MaxDiff, CBC, ACBC) and ensure adherence to healthcare and life sciences guidelines (e.g., BHBIA, EphRMA).
- Facilitate efficient survey programming, acting as a liaison between consultants, programmers, vendors, and clients to ensure smooth execution and launch.
- Provide resources, training, and coaching on research tools, survey platforms (Qualtrics, Sawtooth), and internal analysis tools to build team capabilities.
- Oversee data quality plans, soft launch reviews, and fieldwork monitoring to ensure the highest-quality results.
- Coach teams on best practices in survey analysis and support troubleshooting of fielding issues or advanced studies.
- Develop and share reusable resources (methodology primers, question banks, survey examples) to strengthen research execution across the firm.
- Bachelors degree required.
- 5+ years of direct market research experience (supplier side experience an asset, particularly expert networks and HCP/Patient panels).
- Previous people management experience desired.
- Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and presenting results from a range of primary and/or secondary market research methodologies.
- Experience with various quantitative research methods (design, execution, and analysis): Conjoint (DCM, ACBC), MaxDiff, crosstabs, cluster/segmentation analysis, market simulator development. Conceptual understanding is sufficient; training will be provided.
- Ability to understand complex business issues and advise on actionable research methods to help address them.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel).
- Strong technical and analytical skills.
- Entrepreneurial and pro-active attitude.
- Experience with healthcare/life sciences (and adjacent) research and design.
- Experience with AI tools such as ChatGPT, AlphaSense, or other AI-driven tools to facilitate research design, execution, and analysis.
- Understanding of market research programming platforms (e.g., Qualtrics, Decipher/Forsta, Sawtooth).
- Proficiency with other analytical tools (e.g., Tableau, SAS, SPSS, STATA, etc.) is a plus.
- Experience using Lighthouse Studio/Sawtooth.

Under the general direction of the Director, Insights & Intelligence, CX & Market Research, and in partnership with cross-functional internal partners, this hands-on role works primarily on Voice of the Customer (VOC) primary customer and market research and related analysis. This role requires significant coordination with cross-functional stakeholders. The role also coordinates the work of preferred partner vendors to augment the team's capacity and identifies when an elevated level of expertise is warranted to support project objectives. The Market Research Manager works closely with a number of key roles, stakeholders, and functions across the organization, to include, but not limited to: business stakeholders (sales), financial analysts, customer operations, customer solutions, distribution operations, IT, and marketing. This role requires creative thinking and someone who is able to propose innovative approaches to data collection and analyses. The Market Research Manager should know statistical methods and be able to use internal data sets to complete research projects. In addition, the Market Research Manager will understand and effectively employ a number of ways to visualize data in a way that is highly effective and persuasive. The Market Research Manager may lead and manage Market Research Analysts as assigned, providing guidance, setting expectations, and ensuring high-quality deliverables that meet team and organizational standards.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Provides leadership, guidance, and support to assigned analysts, ensuring clear understanding of roles, responsibilities, and objectives
Oversees workload distribution, sets performance expectations, and monitors progress to ensure deliverables are on time and align with team standards and organizational goals
Fosters professional development through coaching, feedback, and providing opportunities for skill enhancement
Acts as a point of escalation for challenges faced by assigned analysts
Reviews research proposals to understand objectives and consults on the design of research instruments (e.g., surveys, interview discussion guides) to ensure the data collected will facilitate the right analysis to generate findings that support the objectives
Creates survey programming documentation, independently programs and tests surveys, including the development of call-to-action and thank-you messages, uploads respondent data, and deploys surveys
Oversees and conducts qualitative research, including moderating customer interviews, analyzing qualitative data, and synthesizing quantitative and qualitative data
Integrates data from outside sources into survey platform (e.g., Medallia, Qualtrics) and utilizes survey platform analytical tools to develop findings
Builds dashboard specs and dashboards, provides training for stakeholders on optimal use, and continuously finds ways to improve data visualizations and incorporate new features within dashboards
Calculates required respondent sample to achieve desired confidence level
Checks and ensures data validity
Identifies when advanced analytical techniques are appropriate
Conducts analysis of Voice of the Customer data, including univariate, bivariate, and multivariate
Demonstrates strong proficiency with analytical tools (e.g., Excel, Medallia, Qualtrics)
Maintains deep knowledge and expertise on SPSS analytical research software
Identifies and integrates secondary data sources into the VOC analysis in order to improve the specificity and actionability of the analysis, findings, and recommendations
Demonstrates insightful quantitative understanding of a data set
Manipulates, analyzes, and visualizes data to reveal trends in customer expectations and customer perceptions of Cencora's performance
Identifies correlations in the data, including value drivers
Elevates key opportunities where improvement will have the greatest impact
Actively participates with the CX Strategy & Insights team in presentations and workshops where findings and recommendations to improve the CX are discussed and debated
Interprets VOC analysis and effectively communicates statistical concepts in way that makes it easy to understand and is not intimidating to nontechnical audiences
With the hands-on support of the Director, Insights & Intelligence, CX & Market Research, and preferred partners, prepares findings reports for senior executives
Using Microsoft PowerPoint, develops reports with clear, compelling, and easy to interpret data visualizations along with a narrative that translates the data into insights that convey a story or distinct point of view
Becomes an expert user of Medallia, a best-in-class technology for research and analysis
Continuously improves proficiency in utilizing all aspects of the tool, particularly those related to analysis
May support the training of other associates
Stays current on knowledge of new features/functionality and proactively brings ideas for how these can be applied to support the team's goals
Generates timely and concise communications appropriate for executive leadership to understand project status and pending issues
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in data analytics, marketing research, statistics, mathematics, social sciences or related field is required (advanced degree preferred)
Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in data analytics, customer research, marketing research, statistics, mathematics, social sciences or a related field is required
3-5 years of life sciences quantitative and qualitative research and analytics experience strongly preferred
Experience managing research involving cross-functional collaboration strongly preferred
Analytical skills (e.g., ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights)
Technical proficiency with statistical and data visualization tools (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R, Python, Excel, Power BI, Tableau)
Strong project management and organizational skills to manage multiple research projects simultaneously
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to non-technical audiences

- Assists in answering inquiries and fulfilling requests for research and analytics information from VisitPITTSBURGH leadership, board members, key constituents, and stakeholders, as directed.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $105,100 - $164,600. This position is also eligible for a bonus.
