Position Overview As the Material Handler Team Lead, you will manage a team of three, ensuring the efficient execution of daily building support services. Your responsibilities will include handling office furniture, equipment, official records, secure and non-secure files, and office setups. This role also involves assembling and disassembling furniture, repairing office furnishings, managing office equipment (computers, copiers, monitors, etc.), and providing logistical support within a 100-mile radius of the National Capital Region (NCR). Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise a team of three in executing building support services. Oversee office furniture assembly, disassembly, repairs, and inspections. Manage the transportation of excess furniture and supplies to FEMA facilities. Maintain office equipment, replenish hand sanitizers, and support conference room setups. Provide help desk support for furniture-related inquiries and requests. Coordinate with the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) to ensure contract compliance and operational efficiency. Document and submit meeting minutes within two (2) business days for all discussions with the COR regarding performance, procedures, and issue resolution. Qualifications & Skills A high school diploma or equivalent is required A valid driver's license 5+ years experience in material handling, logistics, or facilities support, preferably in support of the Federal Government. 3+ years in a supervisory role Ability to manage and motivate a team. What Youll Do
- Safely operate a seated forklift to transport materials throughout the facility.
- Physically handle and move materials exceeding 50 lbs, often requiring you to exit the forklift
- Stage product for production based on Shop App instructions and daily batching priorities.
- Ensure timely material flow to production lines and departments, minimizing downtime.
- Sort and label products accurately, applying tracking details or protective measures as needed.
- Prevent material damage using pads, straps, and correct handling practices.
- Use assistive devices (slings, hooks, etc.) for oversized or heavy product handling.
- Cross-train across functions, including press operations and remnant handling, to support plant efficiency.
- Assist across departments as needed, contributing to team goals beyond core responsibilities.
- Communicate clearly with leads and production personnel to ensure material delivery expectations are met.
What You Bring
- Proven experience in material handling, warehouse, or manufacturing environments is highly valued.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and heavier loads using proper equipment or two-person lifts.
- OSHA forklift certification is a plus but well help you get certified if needed.
- Comfort with technology and digital tools, including scanning devices and apps used for staging
- Strong sense of urgency, reliability, and accountability in daily tasks.
- Natural attention to detail especially around safety, staging accuracy, and damage prevention.
- Willingness to cross-train and assist others to support plant-wide success.
- Availability to work occasional overtime or adjust hours to meet production demands.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- 1+ year in a manufacturing, warehouse, or production support role
