**The Opportunity:**
The Optical and Photonics Systems group of CACI is looking for candidates to help develop the next generation of optical technologies. These include free-space optical communications terminals and modems and high-power optical sources across the optical spectrum. Particularly, efforts will develop the next generation of capabilities, with previous successes having flown on the International Space Station as part of an optical communications relay demonstration and another having achieved the current largest data optical transmission range of >19 million miles, along with developing the Space Defense Agency's standard terminal for laser communications.
This position is contingent upon contract award.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Support the design and architecture of the mechanical subsystems for free-space optical communications terminals, modems, and high-power optical sources
+ Create detailed CAD models of mechanical components and assemblies using software like SolidWorks or similar
+ Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and hand calculations to evaluate the structural integrity of mechanical systems under various loading conditions
+ Create presentations to document and communicate design, analysis, test results, and performance metrics to stakeholders
+ Work closely with other disciplines to ensure mechanical systems meet overall system requirements
+ Develop prototypes and conduct testing to validate mechanical system performance
+ Collaborate with hardware designers to jointly optimize circuit card layout

The starting salary for the successful candidate in this position is competitive and will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications and experience, geographic location, internal equity, company policy and practices. Stanley’s Approach to Flexibility

While some members choose to work out of their local office on a full-time basis, we offer a hybrid schedule for eligible positions consisting of two days a week in the office, two days a week remotely, and Friday being a flexible day that can be worked either in the office or at home. Eligible roles can also offer a compressed workweek schedule. Members who participate will be assigned a 9/80 work schedule, meaning every other Friday off!
