Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. (SIA) is currently looking for a Mechanical Engineering Analyst to join our Process Pressure Vessels team. This role would participate as part of a dynamic team in the engineering analysis, condition assessment, and life prediction of pressure vessels, piping, and auxiliary equipment used in upstream and downstream petroleum refining, petrochemical, and chemical industries. The position requires the individual to develop the skills to manage and coordinate the technical and administrative aspects of the work. They are expected to actively participate in both internal and external training and development programs. This position will be based in our Denver, CO office.

Responsibilities and Qualifications:
Technical:

  • Assist senior staff with evaluations related to design, life assessment, and root cause failure analysis of pressure vessels, piping, and other equipment.
  • Perform thermal heat transfer and structural stress analysis of pressure vessels, piping systems, rotating equipment, and other plant structures using both classic and finite element analysis methods. Knowledge in fluid mechanics is preferred.
  • Perform simple pressure vessel calculations using commercial software such as PV-Elite and/or Compress.
  • Develop a working knowledge of fatigue, corrosion, and crack initiation and growth mechanisms and fracture mechanics concepts employed for serviceability assessment of damaged or flawed components.
  • Gain broad experience with materials, welding, and nondestructive examination techniques.
  • Assist with field inspections of plant equipment.
  • Assist with the preparation of written technical reports and presentations.
  • Assist in fast paced engineering assessments that are project critical.

  • Perform all work in accordance with SI’s Commercial Quality Procedures and with an acute awareness of client requests.
  • Be aware of new business opportunities and work with senior staff to pursue as appropriate.
  • Learn and implement all applicable standard SI policies and procedures.

Project Management:
  • Support project managers in execution of large-scale projects
  • Develop the skills to independently manage small-scale projects.
  • Ensure quality and enhance job skills by seeking peer review and appraisal.
  • Be financially responsible and adhere to company guidelines with respect to expenses, purchases, and project execution.

Education and Experience:
  • B. S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
  • ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Design Experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks CAD software, Abaqus FE software, and general fracture mechanics concepts. Piping stress analyses experience using CAESAR II is a plus.
  • Computer Programming experience is a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential, as well as a working knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals in Engineering (FE) examination is a plus.

Pay Range:
The expected salary range for this role in Denver, CO $65,680 to $114,000 annually. Exact pay will be commensurate with experience.

**Responsibilities:**
+ Support the design and architecture of the mechanical subsystems for free-space optical communications terminals, modems, and high-power optical sources

Provide direct support for General Construction Project Engineering Services and the following requirements.

  • Reviewing of the technical aspects of designated major design, construction, renovation or alteration projects.
  • Review RFIs, submittals, BCOES reviews and perform plan in hand reviews.
  • Review, inspect and test mechanical systems and equipment installed in projects.
  • Monitor and document commissioning of building systems.
  • Preparation of the pertinent correspondence, reports, and A-E contract criteria necessary for project completion.
  • Review of controversial and/or complex change orders and claims to ensure they are adequately documented and justified.
  • Attendance of all mechanical and plumbing meetings, and providing input on effectively meeting all Requests for Proposal (RFP) and design requirements, to include any LEED requirements incorporated into the design.
  • Attendance of all warranty inspections and support in attaining and maintaining the contractual warranty.


Requirements:


  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering and more than 10 years' experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years' commissioning experience
  • Experience with Quality Control and familiarity with RMS.
  • Past experience with USACE or Air Force Military Construction (MILCON) projects is preferred.
  • Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.

Stanley Consultants is looking for a Mechanical Engineer in our Denver, CO (Centennial) office.

This position is for a candidate with 5-15 years of experience performing functions which require the application of standard mechanical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria in performing a sequence of related engineering tasks. You will work as a design engineer or discipline lead depending on the size and complexity of the project with mentoring opportunities for building project management skills and capabilities on a variety of projects. You must have experience in the power generation industry, university central plants, industrial facilities, or related fields. Work is expected to include new plant design, existing plant retrofits and upgrades (such as liquid, gas, or steam process systems), industrial/process facilities, and other energy infrastructure projects. The projects will vary in size and location.

The Mechanical Engineer role is responsible for determining the technical approach, validating the design criteria, directing more junior staff, and performing detailed design tasks such as calculations, specifications, and drawing preparation. You will be expected to perform design duties with minimal supervision and have the ability to communicate effectively within a team environment. Ideally, we would like you to have some experience developing process flow diagrams, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, mass and energy balances, system hydraulic modeling, pipe stress analysis, and equipment sizing. Background in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer are a plus. Candidates should have some experience in applying mechanical engineering concepts, application and adherence to national codes, and means and methods for power generation or similar industries.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Serves as a technical liaison with clients on project efforts and coordinates technical efforts within discipline areas. Participate in mechanical design development from conceptual design through detailed design, this includes coordinating with other team or project members including other disciplines (structural, electrical, civil, and I&C)
  • Support preparation of engineering and cost estimating reports through collection and analysis of data
  • Prepare and check design computations for system design, equipment and pipe sizing, and determining conditions of service
  • Assist in the preparation of technical specifications for equipment and material
  • Lead and mentor our 2D/3D designers and less experienced engineers to develop designs and prepare drawings for project
  • Work with design and equipment sizing software to prepare engineering and design documents
  • Perform or assist with occasional field or site visits for observations, data collection, and documentation efforts for clients and/or project needs
  • Consults with construction personnel concerning design constructability as related to field conditions, sequencing, and scheduling of construction events
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Department Manager or Project Manager

Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited four-year college
  • 5+ years of relevant power generation design experience
  • Possess PE, or able to obtain PE within 1 year

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing reciprocating engine, simple cycle, combined cycle, and/or combined heat and power plants
  • Experience using Thermoflow Suite, CAESAR II, and/or Pipe-Flo software

Base Compensation : $104,700 - $136,050 / Annual
