Diagnostic Imaging Specialist

This role involves performing technical procedures and assisting in the clinical evaluation and care of patients as a diagnostic imaging specialist.

The specialist utilizes their specific modality to create diagnostic images and provide a safe, positive experience for patients. Essential duties include maintaining competent imaging skills, growing and developing a professional, progressive imaging department with a positive atmosphere, and assisting physicians in all aspects of procedures.

Additional responsibilities involve acting as a mentor and preceptor to new staff and students, actively supporting Albany Medical Center's mission and the imaging department in maintaining proper accreditations, entering patient data into computer systems accurately, and QAing images and patient information for accuracy prior to sending to PACs.

Maintaining competent imaging skills, practicing in compliance with Hospital/department policy, New York state, and accrediting agency standards is also required.

• Practices radiation safety measures in accordance with New York State Department of Health code part 16.
• Obtains peripheral IV access and injects contrast material where required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree Applied Science - required.
• Diploma in X-Ray - required.
• Vocational School Diploma Graduate of an approved professional academic imaging program - required.
• Previous experience helpful - preferred.
• Registered upon hire by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
