Job Description
The Senior Inpatient Medical Coding Professional extracts clinical information from a variety of medical records and assigns appropriate procedural terminology and medical codes (e.g., ICD-10-CM, PCS) to patient records. This position works assignments involving moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
**Responsibilities**
The Senior Inpatient Medical Coding Professional confirms appropriate diagnosis related group (DRG) assignments. Analyzes, enters and manipulates database. Responds to or clarifies internal requests for medical information.
Begins to influence department's strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

**WORK STYLE:** Remote/work at home. While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Corrections Site Medical Director is responsible for overseeing the provision of medical services to inmate patients of the assigned facility consistent with current CFG clinical guidelines and community standards of care. He/ She provides the overall supervision for clinical services at the assigned site while managing and evaluating the medical program activities based on the company goals, objectives, and philosophy according to industry standards and contractual obligations. The Site Medical Director manages primary and consultative services, collaborates with subspecialists, and interfaces with hospital providers to assure timely and appropriate care for inmate patients. The Site Medical Director provides continuous quality control of health services through education, service audits, and studies. The Site Medical Director will also function as liaison between correctional officials, public agencies, and the company as part of this role. The Site Medical Director collaborates with the Health Services Administrator to ensure effective inmate patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes, while maintaining the established guidelines and fiscal responsibility.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs and documents routine physical examinations on inmate patients referred by the nursing/professional staff of the assigned correctional facility consistent with the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) standards of care, state corrections standards, , American Correctional Association (ACA) and Performance Based National Detention Standards (PBNDS) as appropriate.
Participates in the annual review and approval of CFG clinical guidelines, protocols, policies and procedures as well as the medical disaster plan.
Evaluates the credentials of health care providers of the assigned facility at the designated time to examine referred patients.
Assures the implementation and on-going supervision of the on-site chronic care clinics.
Assumes the role of primary care physician to inmate patients and coordinates care both at the jail and off-site.
Performs medical examinations on all new inmates within contracted intervals of admission as needed.
Provides treatment and orders studies, tests and ancillary services required consistent with the provision of basic health care services.
Supervises clinical services provided by the professional and paraprofessional staff.
Conducts “Doctor Sick Call” to examine and treat those inmate patients requesting care and who, after being triaged by the nursing staff, require the services of a physician.
Supervises the development of and application of policies, procedures, and protocols in the care of detainees/ inmate patients.
Participates in the interviewing and hiring of physician and mid-level provider staff for the facility.
Supervises clinical service treatments, medications and other treatments to treat illnesses and health problems as allowed by state regulations and under the guidelines of the approved CFG formulary.
Provides emergency treatment on-site and responds appropriately in urgent or emergency situations.
Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.
Promotes a therapeutic environment to ensure inmates are treated in a professional, ethical and tactful manner.
Ensures that all telephone orders are countersigned within 72 hours.
Monitors all referrals to outside health care facilities for appropriateness, quality and continuity of care.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education
Completion from an accredited medical school facility with a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree.
Completion of a US based residency program.
Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state in which the facility is located (maintain a current copy of license on file at the facility at all times).
Minimum Work Experience
At least two years of public health, emergency, family practice experience.
Previous correctional health care experience preferred.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The CCBHC Medical Director is a highly skilled psychiatrist who provides leadership and guidance to clinicians and programs at a Coordinated Community Behavioral Health Center (CCBHC). The Medical Director will partner with the CCBHC Senior Director and other clinical and administrative leadership to ensure and promote the provision of integrated care. The Medical Director will report to the Chief of Psychiatry and will work in a traditional clinical role up to 20% of the time.
The Medical Director will lead clinical team meetings such as high-risk meetings, case conferences, and monthly utilization reviews in partnership with other clinical leadership. They will also assist with providing prescription coverage when providers at the hub are not working, assisting with clinical consultations, and escalation pathways. The CCBHC Medical director should have extensive experience with substance use treatment and possess a Federal DATA 2000 waiver (buprenorphine-certified).
KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• supports psychiatric best practices at the CCBHC including driving process and quality improvement processes related to HEDIS & MIPS measures.
• support new practitioners joining the CCBHC by providing a clinical orientation of new hires, including support in the use of the electronic health record, and navigating a complex system.
• provide practitioners at the hub with chart reviews, focusing on strengths and areas for improvement
• supports recruitment efforts by interviewing psychiatric candidates for the CCBHC
• supports the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NPP) Residency either by providing back up to preceptors in the residency when coverage is needed and/or assisting with didactics
• Supervise NPP Students who are currently enrolled in graduate programs seeing clients at a CCBHC
• Supervise Psych providers working at the CCBHC.
• Provides direct client services.
• Partners with CCBHC site-based leadership to guide and oversee clinical operations
CORE COMPETENCIES
• Extensive experience providing psychiatric care, preferably with a wide range of diagnoses and demographic groups including substance use disorders.
• Demonstrated commitment to, ability for, and experience in training new providers.
• Comfort supervising students and newly graduated NPPs, including some NPPs coming from academic programs where they were not allowed to independently treat clients at all.
• Comfort with providing supervision via remote, technology-based systems like TEAMS.
EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIRED:

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The CCBHC Medical Director is a highly skilled psychiatrist who provides leadership and guidance to clinicians and programs at a Coordinated Community Behavioral Health Center (CCBHC). The Medical Director will partner with the CCBHC Senior Director and other clinical and administrative leadership to ensure and promote the provision of integrated care. The Medical Director will report to the Chief of Psychiatry and will work in a traditional clinical role up to 20% of the time.
The Medical Director will lead clinical team meetings such as high-risk meetings, case conferences, and monthly utilization reviews in partnership with other clinical leadership. They will also assist with providing prescription coverage when providers at the hub are not working, assisting with clinical consultations, and escalation pathways. The CCBHC Medical director should have extensive experience with substance use treatment and possess a Federal DATA 2000 waiver (buprenorphine-certified).
KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• supports psychiatric best practices at the CCBHC including driving process and quality improvement processes related to HEDIS & MIPS measures.
• support new practitioners joining the CCBHC by providing a clinical orientation of new hires, including support in the use of the electronic health record, and navigating a complex system.
• provide practitioners at the hub with chart reviews, focusing on strengths and areas for improvement
• supports recruitment efforts by interviewing psychiatric candidates for the CCBHC
• supports the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NPP) Residency either by providing back up to preceptors in the residency when coverage is needed and/or assisting with didactics
• Supervise NPP Students who are currently enrolled in graduate programs seeing clients at a CCBHC
• Supervise Psych providers working at the CCBHC.
• Provides direct client services.
• Partners with CCBHC site-based leadership to guide and oversee clinical operations
CORE COMPETENCIES
• Extensive experience providing psychiatric care, preferably with a wide range of diagnoses and demographic groups including substance use disorders.
• Demonstrated commitment to, ability for, and experience in training new providers.
• Comfort supervising students and newly graduated NPPs, including some NPPs coming from academic programs where they were not allowed to independently treat clients at all.
• Comfort with providing supervision via remote, technology-based systems like TEAMS.
