This position performs waived and non-waived tests as defined by CLIA '88 in an accurate and timely manner with supervision. Assists with department compliance with all pertinent laboratory accrediting agencies and regulatory requirements (e.g., CLIA '88, JCAHO, CAP, OSHA). Personnel report to department supervisor. May be responsible for the collection, receipt, and processing of biological specimens into the laboratory. Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.

Our scientists are highly-skilled and specialized in the fields of geochemistry, biochemistry, chemistry, microbiology, geology, engineering and other specialty services. With a broad range of staff experience and state-of-the-art instrumentation, we provide cross-analytical solutions for the Mining, Environmental, Energy, Transportation, Industrial, Agri-food and Life Sciences  sectors.

Summary:

AGAT Laboratories is currently looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our facility in Tempe, AZ . This is an entry-level position where one can gain career experience in a laboratory with direction from the Laboratory Manager and other Laboratory team members as the team grows over time. The successful candidate will assist with administrative and basic laboratory activities. 

Duties:

• Perform basic laboratory procedures including preparation of samples, reagents and calibration solutions.
• Administrative support.
• Inventory management of laboratory supplies.
• Correspondence with vendors and manufactures.
• Research projects through assembly and analyses of date to prepare reports and documentation. 
• Provide general lab support including washing glassware, cleaning work stations and waste disposal.
• Operate instruments, with guidance from senior staff perform maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting.  
• Perform basic analysis as required.
• Report results.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education with a Chemical degree/diploma or equivalent experience.
• Basic office or administration experience. 
• Previous work lab experience is an asset, training will be provided.
• Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Attention to detail with good organizational skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Team player with the ability to work in a positive manner in a fast paced environment.

Work Environment: This position requires a person to stand, sit and lift throughout the shift in a laboratory environment. Manual dexterity is required to perform repetitive tasks. PPE is required where applicable.
