Qualifications:

- Competency in chemistry, hematology, immunoassays , waived tests, and gold standard tuberculosis (TB) testing , such as Quantiferon, and general lab procedures
- Understanding of CLIA compliance and quality control (QC) standards

The Lab Technician I is responsible for handling raw materials, intermediate, and marketed products in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and company standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Responsibilities
+ Receive and process daily raw materials, including both GMP and Non-GMP items, according to SOPs.
+ Monitor and manage departmental supplies, requesting orders as necessary.
+ Distribute materials to applicable departments and maintain an orderly and clean warehouse.
+ Perform cycle counts and inventory management tasks.
+ Build and deliver plasma pools to manufacturing, ensuring proper storage in the freezer area.
+ Conduct preventative maintenance (PMs) weekly and check temperature charts daily.
+ Adhere to all safety standards and perform data entry into networked systems, including SAP and Microsoft Office.
+ Maintain accurate temperature logs for the warehouse.
Essential Skills

Work Environment
The work environment includes frequent trips to Freezer areas with temperatures ranging from 2-8 degrees Celsius, and work in clean room. The shift is from 3 pm to 11 pm, with potential occasional after-hours and weekend work. Physical activities such as standing, kneeling, climbing, lifting, pulling, and carrying materials weighing up to 75 pounds are required. The role may involve potential exposure to airborne particles, chemicals, fumes, and other conditions typical of a manufacturing, laboratory, or warehouse environment.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.

Description: Pilgrim's is the second largest poultry producer in the United States producing nearly
1 out of every 5 chickens. With that comes a significant responsibility to produce safe, wholesome
products. Therefore, Pilgrim's is committed to food safety and the reduction of foodborne
pathogens across our vertically integrated business. In this part time position, there will be
opportunities to assist with many of the innovative food safety research projects being conducted by
Pilgrim's to improve and lead poultry food safety. More specifically, these research projects focus
on the industry applications of novel pre-harvest and post-harvest interventions aimed to reduce
pathogen loads, and therefore, ultimately reduce consumer risk of foodborne illness related to
chicken consumption. Involvement in hands-on microbiological laboratory experience ranging from
the basics, like setting Petrifilm, to working with advanced molecular technologies, such as PCR.
Additionally, exposure to the poultry business, both at the plant level and the live production level,
will be provided for a better understanding of the poultry business as a whole.
Responsibilities: Duties include:
- On farm or in the processing plant collection of samples.
- Prepares medias, reagents and solutions required for tests.

Performs chemical microscopic and bacteriologic tests to provide data for use in treatment and diagnosis of disease applying techniques used in fields of bacteriology or mycology, hematology and/or chemical examinations.
Essential Responsibilities:
+ Receives specimens from laboratory or obtains such body materials as urine, blood, pus and tissue directly from patient and makes quantitative and qualitative chemical analysis and does routine cultures.
+ Performs blood tests and study morphology of blood.
+ Obtains blood specimen for performance of all hematological examinations and clinical chemical analysis requested for each patient.
+ Performs routine hematological examinations following established laboratory procedures, methods and techniques using microscope and centrifuge.
+ Performs routine procedures for macro and microscopic analysts of urine.
+ Records and reports results of tests and examinations performed.
+ Identifies and stores specimens which require further analysis.
+ Cleans and maintains equipment and instruments used in performance of tests and examinations. Reports malfunctions and needs for repair to supervisor.

Each individual performing high complexity testing must follow the laboratorys procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results; maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens; adhere to the laboratorys quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed; Follow the laboratorys established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratorys established acceptable levels of performance; Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the supervisor; and document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratorys established performance specifications. If not qualified to perform testing independently, must perform high complexity testing only under the onsite direct supervision of a supervisor.
