**This is a PRN "As Needed" Position**

Under the leadership guidance of the Mercy Health Director of Safety and Police Department, and management authority of the Manager/Chief of Police, the Mercy Health Police Department (Youngstown Division) Officer is responsible for enforcing established organizational safety and security policies and supporting a positive customer - friendly service-oriented approach. This job description operates in accordance with established International Association of Hospital Safety and Security Management (IAHSS) guidelines and best practices.
**SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:**
-Protects patients, visitors and employees by providing escorts, patrolling grounds, and eliminating environment of care safety hazards.
-Deters vandalism, theft and property abuse through routine patrols of all hospital property to include inside areas as well as all parking lots and decks.
-Enforces hospital policies e.g. parking regulations, visitation policies, drug enforcement, and tobacco free/smoking policy.
-Monitors hospital activity on closed circuit television to be alerted to any escalating situations that may require security involvement.
-Intervenes in patient, visitor and/or staff confrontations as appropriate.
-Advises dispatcher of any and all duties performed. Completes appropriate documentation of various incidents.
-Demonstrates understanding of emergency procedures, alarm response, evacuation and internal and external disaster plans.
-Responds to emergency situations and hospital alarms as designated.
-Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. Maintains applicable certification/licensure. Completion of IAHSS Basic Training Module within 90 days post new hire.
-Remains on assigned post and completes all post specific duties. Ensures that post and police vehicles remains clean, neat and free of all non-work related material.
-Follows organizational hospital policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.
-Maintains and presents self in professional manner at all times when on duty.

Completing Police Department investigative reports timely with demonstration of accurate information, correct grammar and spelling. Adheres, follows and enforces Police Department policies and procedures. Supports the Performance Improvement process. Participates in Environment of Care clinical and non-clinical Safety Rounds. Conducts monthly safety inspections/security - related equipment checks (i.e. panic and duress alarms and emergency call boxes.) Participates as assigned with monthly fire safety management drills. **QUALIFICATIONS:**
**EDUCATION :**
-High School Diploma required.
-Current Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) Certificate of completion Academy Training.
-Associate and/or Bachelor Degree preferred.
-I.A.H.S.S. Basic Training and Certification for Healthcare Security Officer within one year of hiring.
EXPERIENCE:
-Minimum 1-2 years on the job law enforcement / criminal justice training preferred.
**ESSENTIAL CERTIFICATIONS:**
-Valid Ohio driver's license.
-Successfully qualify with duty weapons as directed to maintain State and/or Departmental requirements.
-Successfully qualify with an ECD per Police Department policy and procedure.
-Successfully complete AED-CPR training as per Police Department policy and procedure
**PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT**
Must comply with Police Department requirements related to protective equipment, body cameras and body armor.
**REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:**

**Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position**
Facilitates the operative or other invasive procedure by preparing and providing the required sterile instruments, supplies and equipment. Maintains the sterile field and anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgical team.
**Essential Job Functions**
- Functions as the scrub person and assists as trained during operative and other invasive procedures by assembling supplies and equipment required for the procedure.
- Prepares and organizes sterile supplies and instruments for the procedure and performs surgical counts with the circulating RN according to policy.
- Maintains an organized sterile field and ensures the sterility of the field by taking corrective action as needed. Assists with the placement of sterile drapes. Provides instruments and supplies to the surgical team during the procedure and maintains aseptic technique.
- Retrieves and collects specimens and labels specimens appropriately and correctly.
- Reports any implanted devices, catheters, drains, and packing to the circulator.
- Provides complete case preparation and knows, with the ability to adapt, of special instruments, supplies, and equipment needs for patient populations.
- Demonstrates knowledge of patient's rights and responsibilities according to the patient's age and understanding.
- Demonstrates understanding of patient's Advance Directives.
- Assists in CPR as needed.
- Assists with pre and post-procedure cleaning of the operative or invasive procedure room and necessary instruments.

**Licensing/Certification**

**Primary Function/General Purpose of Position**
The primary responsibility of a multi-modality technologist performs any 3 combination of procedures with related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by, and at the request of, a licensed independent practitioner.
**Essential Job Functions**
+ Performs duties for any 3 imaging modalities. (ex: XR, CT, MRI) (ex: ARRT, RDMS)
+ Meets any continuing education or clinical requirements necessary to meet regulatory standards
+ Operates equipment, accessories and is knowledgeable in workflows, procedures and processes of the 3 imaging modalities.
+ Selecting appropriate imaging/sequences with consideration given to approved protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
+ Obtains patient's clinical history and appropriate lab work ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner. Use of POC device for Lab work.
+ Applies Safety principles with a focus on the 3 imaging modalities to minimize risk to patient, self and others that may affect the patient's safety, damage the equipment or affect the image quality.
+ Provides radiation protection and other protection specific to the 3 modalities for the patient and others.
+ Verifies patient identification using two patient identifiers and the procedure requested or prescribed by validating the order.
+ When required by either of the 3 modalities, performs venipuncture including starting, maintaining and/or removing intravenous access.
+ When required by either of the 3 modalities, identifies, prepares and/or administers medications/contrast as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
+ When required by either of the 3 modalities, uses a power injector for the administration of medication with approved vascular access device. Follows manufacturer guidelines regarding infusion rates and pressure.

Facilitates DSMES in accordance with the American Diabetes Association's recognized program standards. Provides Medical Nutrition Therapy both individually and in group settings at all Mercy Youngstown locations as needed. Evaluates quality and outcomes of the DSMES program. Collaborates with other departments to provide nutrition education to poor and underserved populations.
