**JOB SUMMARY**
The Supervisor of Clinical Services coordinates all activities of assigned employees in the clinical help for a practice. Works with manager to ensure practice is managed according to established standards. Provides overall day to day leadership and supervision of clinical employees and programs. Responsibilities include a wide variety of supervisory and coordination tasks including many aspects of site clinical services.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE**
+ Supervises daily activities of clinical staff to ensure efficient operations, including ordering supplies for clinical area and handles duties of Medical Staff as needed.
+ Organizes work in an efficient and cost-effective manner, ensuring continuity of service.
+ Work includes preparation and help with patient examinations, preparation of treatment rooms, collection of medical data, input of information for medical records, routine patient testing, and/or adminstration of routine medications, injections, and vaccinations.
+ Ensures employees adhere to standards of behavior, corporate policies and practices, and patient satisfaction standards as they relate to both internal and external customers.
+ Oversees compliance, training and maintaining applicable license and certifications.
+ Serves as clinical onsite contact for Physicians, Administration and Staff.
+ Builds teamwork and maintains effective communication with direct reports, peers, other various departments and administration.
+ Partners with leadership and necessary departments to investigate, resolve, and document resolution of patient complaints concerning services provided by practice.
+ Implements plans with clinic leadership as they apply to the clinic staff supervised.
+ Works with next level leadership to implement changes consistent with clinic operational plans.
+ Routinely provides reports on operational metrics and explains variances against plan.
+ Oversees activities including interviewing, making hiring recommendations, orienting, evaluating, coaching, team building activities, and if necessary, assisting with disciplinary actions.
+ Maintains safety of patients, family members, staff and self during all activities.

About the role:

The Director of Clinical Services is responsible for the overall direction of hospice clinical services. The Director of Clinical Services establishes, implements, and evaluates goals and objectives for hospice services that meet and promote the standards of quality and contribute to the total organization and philosophy.
Job Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinates and oversees all direct and indirect patient services provided by clinical organization personnel.
  2. Provides guidance and counseling to coordinators and Clinical Supervisors to assist them in continually improving all aspects of hospice care services, provided through organization personnel.
  3. Assists Clinical Supervisors in managing clinical teams and planning.
  4. Provides help in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient and family/caregiver care to all clinical personnel as indicated.
  5. Assists the Executive Director/Administrator in the preparation and administration of the organization's budget.
  6. Interprets operational indicators to detect census changes and increases or decreases in volume that could impact staffing levels, revenues, or expenses.
  7. Evaluate the performance of Clinical Supervisors.
  8. Assists Clinical Supervisors in developing skills and techniques for evaluating the performance of clinicians.
  9. Hires, evaluates and terminates organization personnel.
  10. Conducts annual evaluations on clinicians, or more frequently if indicated.
  11. Oversees the maintenance of patient clinical records, statistics, reports, and records for purposes of evaluation and reporting of organization activities.
  12. Assures proper maintenance of clinical records in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  13. Responsible for the maintenance of adequate and appropriate inventory supplies and equipment for the provision of patient services.
  14. Develop, implement, and evaluate the orientation program for new organization personnel. Responsible for orientation of new organization personnel, directly or delegated.
  15. Plans and implements in-service and continuing education programs to meet the education and training needs of organization personnel.
  16. Assists with the evaluation of organization performance via performance improvement program, productivity, and quarterly and annual reviews. Assures for the quality and safe delivery of hospice services provided through the Organization.
  17. Assists in the development of organization goals. Develops, recommends, and administers organization policies and procedures.
  18. Assures compliance with all local, state, and federal laws regarding licensure and certification of organization personnel and maintains compliance with the CHAP Home Care standards.
  19. Stays informed about changes in the field of nursing and hospice care, and shares information with appropriate organization personnel.
  20. Promotes hospice referrals in the health care community.
  21. In the absence of the Executive Director/Administrator, the Clinical Director will become the acting Executive Director/Administrator and will be vested with the authority to act on behalf of the Executive Director/Administrator.
  22. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director/Administrator.
Job Qualifications:
  1. Registered nurse in the State with current licensure to practice professional nursing in the State.
  2. Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited program by the National League for Nursing. Master's degree in hospice preferred.
  3. Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct professional and administrative personnel.
  4. Ability to market and deal tactfully with customers and the community.
  5. Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or Organization requirements and is in good working order.
  6. Has excellent observation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  7. Knowledge of business management, governmental regulations, and CHAP standards.

**Job Duties**
Pharmacy Operations
Responsible for the provision of optimal pharmaceutical care through development, implementation and support of clinical services including integration into distributive operations.
Human Resources
Administration of select personnel logistics such as ensuring thorough training and competency of pharmacist staff, providing performance feedback routinely for direct reports, participating in talent selection as well as disciplinary processes, etc.
Ensure that policies relating to hiring, competencies, scheduling, payroll, separation and other workplace functions are disseminated to staff and compliance is maintained.

Quality/Safety/Regulatory
Participates in the development and implementation of the department's policies and procedures as well as quality improvement and patient safety initiatives, programs and standards.
Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with department/hospital/system staff, peers and leaders and coordinates efforts to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Participate in hospital, medical staff and system level committees, and addresses issues related to pharmacy.
Financial Management and Planning

Assist RNs in pre-op and PACU.
