This position is responsible for maintaining, planning, and growing Ashleys fleet of PIV Equipment, as well as managing expansion and consolidation projects related to strategic efforts for the Ashley distribution centers across North America. The role involves developing maintenance programs to reduce expenses, improve reliability, security, efficiency, and safety, and overseeing expansion projects including racking and automation. The successful candidate will lead multiple projects, establish metrics for continuous improvement, and may have additional duties as assigned.
Responsibilities- Develop maintenance guidelines and obsolescence plans for Ashleys global fleet of over 2,000 PIVs.
- Promote a culture of zero downtime to maximize fleet utilization and minimize repair times for infrastructure and equipment.
- Lead mitigation efforts for issues causing production disruptions, including outages and infrastructure damage.
- Oversee expansion projects and new distribution center openings, including equipment planning and facilities design.
- Implement proactive maintenance systems, including PMs, safety audits, and compliance measures.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and authorities to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Manage contract negotiations, work scope definitions, and bid analyses for maintenance services.
- Maintain communication with leadership and stakeholders through reports and meetings.
- Ensure emergency preparedness and safety in facilities management.
- Manage expansion and consolidation projects, working with civil engineering and contractors to ensure timely, within-budget completion.
- Scope and deploy future Material Handling Equipment and automation systems.
- Make hiring and personnel decisions, manage team performance, and facilitate employee development.

+ Responsible for carrying out assigned construction activities in support of new plant construction, rebuilds and existing plant upgrades. + Dismantles, moves, or removes aerial, underground, or building wire, cable equipment, poles, and hardware. Installs and replaces power supplies, converters, and terminal boxes. Operates heavy-duty power equipment and hand tools.
+ Support senior staff technicians and mentor junior technicians with install, test, and repair of custom service orders.
+ Responsible for basic vehicle maintenance, truck stock, and follows the company's safe driving and other applicable policies. May be required to pass, background check, pre-employment, and random controlled substance screening, and obtain commercial driver's license within 6 months of employment.

**Core Responsibilities**
+ Performs routine troubleshooting calls troubleshoots the plant through the distribution cable to the node to restore customer video, CHSI, or CDV. Must climb poles, ladders and operate aerial lifts 18 to 20 feet above ground, as determined by the system's requirements. Must use basic cable test equipment. Performs work near power lines and electricity.
+ Surveys the plant to ensure service availability to potential customers.
+ Performs underground location of existing plant using system prints and cable locating equipment to prevent cable damage and service interruption. Must read general system layouts from blueprints.
+ Responds to and repairs service interruptions during regular business hours, shift work or when "On-calls". Normal work shift may include evenings and/or weekends; may include 10-hour days for 4 days a week. Must be available to work overtime including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
+ Performs CLI ride-out and track and repair leakage. Works and travels in inclement weather.
+ Performs construction maintenance duties such as: splices aerial/underground coaxial cable and equipment to restore cable plant to system specification; splices and activates new coaxial plant; repairs and/or replace damaged aerial/underground plant; and inspects, repairs and/or replaces power supplies. Must use basic cable installation tools and hand tools. Must follow safety procedures and requirements. Lifts and carries loads of 70 lbs. or more.
+ During the course of normal day-to-day activities: cleans, maintains and stocks vehicle and equipment to be prepared for daily responsibilities; completes associated paperwork with each job in a timely manner; accurately operate and maintain tools and equipment; reports need for vehicle repair or service when required and/or prescribed; and reports any accidents, losses, injuries or property damage to supervisor and customer when appropriate. Drives company vehicle in a safe and responsible manner.
+ Reviews all requested services with the customer to ensure understanding and agreement; survey the installation route and review proposed route with the customer to acquire agreement on the location of cable outlet(s). Exposure to dogs and other animals, construction areas and the public in general.
+ Pre-wires single dwelling units and multiple dwelling units (MDUs) to provide "ready hook-up" capabilities at the time of occupancy. Works in crawl spaces, attics and permit required confined spaces. Exposure to moderate noise level.
+ Performs multi-product reconnects, requested and non-pay disconnects and additional outlets for residential and residential-like products. Installs and removes set-top box and/or eMTA to provide customer with upgrades or downgrades in service. Must have knowledge of basic mathematics, be able to count and work with U.S. currency and be able to connect with customers in a clear and straight forward manner.
+ Performs multi-product service calls for residential and residential like products. Troubleshoots the forward and return path in the drop from the tap to the customer's equipment for multiple services. Must possess the ability to prioritize and organize effectively.
+ Performs wall fish by the market (optional not included in national certification). Performs multi-product installations for residential and residential-like products, complete from tap to customer equipment in single and multiple family dwellings including prewired units; perform installations adhering to Comcast procedures and safe work practices, NEC and NESC requirements and local ordinances to provide services to the customer. Installations could include but not be limited to the following: Video (analog and digital; home theater); Comcast Digital Voice® (CDV) and/or other Voice services; Comcast High-Speed Data (CHSI) (Home Networking and Home Plug); Teleworker; Comcast Workplace (Internet)f. Workplace Digital Voice (WDV) standard; Commercial Video. Manipulates connectors, fasteners, wire, use hand tools. Must have vision ability of close vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus and differentiate colors.
+ Possesses knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC,) the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA,) Federal Communications Commission (FCC,) Environmental Protection Agency (EPA,) Department of Transportation (DOT,) American National Standards Institute (ANSI,) and various state and local codes including G.O. 95 and G.O. 128, (when applicable).
+ Inspects existing bond/ground to ensure compliance with Comcast and National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements; make new ground as required to protect employees, customers and equipment from electrical shock or damage.
+ Checks in each job in a timely manner to ensure all details of the work are recorded for entry in the customer's account once the work is complete. Completes associated paperwork with each work order, as required. Must be able to work while standing 50 70% of the time.
+ Works within manufacturers rated weight capacity for all equipment, including but not limited to ladders and aerial lifts.
+ Determines acceptability of video, data, and voice services by reviewing television picture quality and PC and modem connection following any installation or work on cable services to provide the best possible service for the customer. Educates the customer on the CDV service and voice mail. Conduct CDV test call. Demonstrates CHSI service and educate customer on how to connect to the service, home page, national and local content and web browsing using URL(s,) etc. Must possess the ability to manipulate objects such as pens, keyboard, and mouse.
+ Provides the customer with the Comcast Welcome Kit and materials regarding channel lineup, use of set-top box, modem and/or eMTA and company policies as they relate to the customer as well as demonstrate these skills to educate the customer on the use of the equipment, products and services and company guidelines.
+ Provides information on available services to new and existing customers to sell additional services and attempt to upgrade existing services.
+ Performs standard home theater installations associated with video installations. Must have knowledge of policies and procedures for installation activities.
+ Must have fifteen months cable telecommunications (and/or broadband) or similar experience. Possesses: knowledge of cable television products and services, basic knowledge of cable system operations, basic knowledge of a cable system overview and basic knowledge of the history of cable and Comcast.
+ Must have knowledge of components on the PC desktop and ability to perform the following: launch an application; add a shortcut; log into and navigate through a dial-up or other internet service; install software like Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape Communicator, Microsoft Windows, MS Office applications, educational software or games; navigate through a file system via the DOS prompt or window interface; access the Control Panel to configure components such as a printer, modem and monitor.

The Opportunity:
The Northern Illinois Food Bank seeks an extraordinarily motivated candidate to join our team as a Network & Security Administrator. This role will design, implement, and maintain a hybrid network infrastructure that integrates Azure cloud environments with physical switches and routers deployed at four different locations. The Network & Security Administrator works closely under the guidance of senior engineers to ensure the infrastructure is secure, scalable, and reliable, using Azure best practices and hybrid networking principles.
This Full-Time position is based out of our West Suburban Center (Geneva) location.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design, configuration, and implementation of a hybrid network combining Azure virtual networks (VNets) with on-premises physical switches and routers across four sites.
- Configure and maintain physical network equipment (switches, routers, and firewalls) to ensure seamless connectivity between on-premises locations and the Azure environment.
- Implement Azure ExpressRoute or VPN gateways to securely connect on-premises locations to Azure.
- Deploy and configure Azure-native security tools (e.g., Azure Firewall, Network Security Groups) to protect cloud resources.
- Work on implementing on-premises security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and VLAN segmentation.
- Apply best practices for hybrid identity management using Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) and secure access to physical and cloud-based resources.
- Monitor hybrid network performance and connectivity using tools like Azure Network Watcher, Azure Monitor, and SNMP-based tools for physical devices.
- Assist in diagnosing and resolving connectivity issues between on-premises sites and Azure, including routing, bandwidth, and security problems.
- Perform routine maintenance on physical switches, routers, and firewalls to ensure optimal performance.
- Learn and apply the Azure Well-Architected Framework principles to hybrid deployments, ensuring security, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
- Support compliance efforts by adhering to regulatory requirements such as HIPAA, GDPR, or ISO 27001 for hybrid network infrastructure.
- Collaborate with senior engineers, system administrators, and DevOps teams to integrate physical and Azure networks securely.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of hybrid network configurations, including physical topology, Azure setups, and security policies
- Perform other related duties and/or responsibilities as assigned or required.

- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 1-3 years' experience in IT management or a related role, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
- Basic knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, routing protocols).
- Preferred certifications: AZ-900, Azure Network Engineer Associate, CCNA (or similar).
- Familiarity with Azure networking (VNets, VPN Gateways, ExpressRoute).
- Understanding of configuring and troubleshooting switches/routers (Cisco, Juniper, or similar).
- Awareness of cybersecurity principles and tools (firewalls, IDS/IPS, Azure Security Center).
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, eagerness to learn, and effective communication.
