Key Responsibilities for Network & Infrastructure Engineer:

Responsible for communicating with cross-functional Software Development Teams to create processes related to automation to reduce manual work or to build software products and automation tools related to Network & Infrastructure Engineering.

Design and configure computer and information networks, such as local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), intranets, extranets, and other data communications networks. Perform system monitoring and verify the integrity and availability of hardware, network, and server resources and systems.

Perform network modeling, analysis, and planning, including capacity assessments for network infrastructure. Design network and computer security measures, and install and upgrade hardware and software solutions for network and data communications.

Configure and troubleshoot various network protocols across Layers 2 and 3, including TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, ARP, VLANs, STP, HSRP, VRRP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, and MPLS.

Configure and administer Cisco Nexus, Juniper EX, and Siemens SCALANCE switches, as well as Cisco, Juniper, and Siemens routers.

Configure and manage firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Juniper SRX) and VPN setups. Implement QoS (Quality of Service) policies to prioritize business-critical applications and ensure optimal network performance.

Configure IPsec VPNs, GRE tunnels, and SSL VPNs to establish secure communication channels across remote offices and cloud environments. Deploy encrypted GRE DMVPN tunnels between multiple remote sites using Cisco routers and firewalls (L2TPv2/IPsec).

Review system and application logs and verify completion of scheduled jobs, including system backups. Analyze network and server resource consumption and control user access.

Monitor network traffic patterns, identify anomalies, and detect potential security threats in real time using SolarWinds, NAGIOS, and NMAP.

Implement and administer VMware virtualization, including vSphere and vCenter.

Collaborate with the Software Development team to translate business requirements into technical specifications, ensuring seamless communication and alignment between business goals and engineering solutions.

Qualifications and Experience Required for Network & Infrastructure Engineer:

Education:

Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunication Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, Network Engineering, or a related technical field.

Equivalent combinations of education, certifications, or work experience are acceptable.

Experience:

5+ years of experience in network and infrastructure engineering or a related field.

Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-scale networks and IT infrastructure.

Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid environments is a plus.

Certifications:

Industry-recognized certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or equivalent are highly desirable.

Technical Skills:

Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, etc.) and infrastructure components.

Proficient in managing Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent network hardware.

Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).

Knowledge of infrastructure monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG).

Familiarity with scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) is a plus.

Soft Skills:

Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.

Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and independently manage tasks.

Salary Range: $59,300.00 - $98,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

This team is responsible for planning and executing network migrations for one of the world's largest backbone and edge networks. Network Engineer, Deployment & Support Responsibilities Deploy, migrate and support our global production network including edge, backbone, data center infrastructure. Work cross-functionally with project management, network engineering to generate implementation plans including Method of Procedure (MOP) and Bill of Materials (BOM), Engineering Design Packages (EDP) and Scope of Works (SOW). Provide technical leadership and guidance during network deployment and migration activities in our data centers and POPs, including in the areas of facility power, cooling, rack layout and cable management, physical equipment installation, network equipment configuration, testing and handoff for production traffic. Drive problem management initiatives to solve complex issues that span multiple organizations. Initiatives exist globally across technical infrastructure reliability, policy, security, compliance, and business strategy. Help drive and align on workflow management tooling requirements - efficiency and automation roadmaps. Manage key vendor relationships including contract negotiations, pricing, and evaluation of current and potential partnerships. Manage partner engineering team relationships to enable the team(s) to effectively meet business needs. Coach and develop other engineers and managers on the team. Knowledge of data center design and operational best practices. Experience with Linux OS/networking. Experience analyzing situations and utilizing problem solving experiences under pressure. Proven experience leading and executing network deployment and migration projects. Experience working with limited supervision.
