**Job Overview**
The Nurse Education Specialist (NES) guides the orientation of new employees to the organization and their assigned groups or units. The NES welcomes new employees to the goals, philosophies, policies/procedures, role expectations, and other considerations to guide the new employee towards achieving role competency. The NES is a consultant, coach, mentor, and leader who collaborates with site nursing leadership and the System Professional Develompent Specialist Nursing (SPDSN) to support new employees during their orientation and ongoing learning. The NES supports and advocates for new employees throughout orientation by also supporting preceptors. The NES, in collaboration with the SPDSN, assesses and identifies ongoing education needs for all department staff.
This RN role will be supporting the NICU Level IV and NICU IMC units at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital (Minneapolis, MN).
**Responsibilities**
+ Coordinates and supports aspects of pre-boarding for employees new to the role or to the department.
+ Partners with department leaders in identifying needs for the new employee's orientation plan
+ Works with system departments to ensure appropriate accesses and requests are granted for unit readiness
+ Ensures that appropriate classes, education, and competencies are assigned to the new employee
+ Communicates directly with the new employee to welcome them and obtain scheduling considerations for their orientation schedule

Under the supervision of the Associate Director, the Admissions Counselor will act as the primary processor for applications, including updating application checklists, entering decisions, and providing ongoing application updates to applicants and program leaders. · Assist with the annual screening of applications. Analyze transcripts to assess whether prerequisites have been met. Verify letters of recommendation as needed.

· Meet with prospective students and advise on application requirements

· Answer phones and emails in rotation with the Admissions Counselor team.

· Coordinate, schedule, and conduct campus tours in rotation with the Admissions Counselor team.

· Attend and assist with all Admissions events to include, but not limited to: New Student Orientations, Annual Admissions Committee Workshops, Open Houses, and Recruitment Fairs. GW Inc. is a publishing services provider currently seeking nursing educators as paid Subject Matter Experts to help develop learning content for major book publishers. This work is fully remote (within the U.S.), flexible, and doesn't interfere with your schedule as you can accept or reject work as your schedule allows. GW SMEs are an integral part of our team and help develop materials for textbook publishing and educational content.

We're especially interested in nursing experts who have experience in the following areas:

  • Medical-Surgical Nursing (Especially NGN)
  • Maternal-Child
  • Mental Health
  • Fundamentals
  • Health Assessment (APN level)
  • Leadership

**Job Summary and Responsibilities**
JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE
Responsible for management and leadership of the Center for Professional Practice, Development, Residency, and Research which has the following departments: Nursing Education, New Graduate Residency, and Nursing Research. In addition, Provides oversight of evidence based practice, the professional development model, and nursing peer review. Accountable for the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of activities for Nursing designed to meet goals established to enhance professional development, to increase the clinical, leadership, and managerial competency of the staff, to enhance patient outcomes through clinical competency, education, research and evidence based practice, to facilitate the hard‐wiring of quality initiatives, and to meet or exceed internal and external benchmarks.
ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Contributes to quality cost effective patient care through programs designed to meet learning needs to achieve desired patient outcomes, to increase clinical, leadership, and managerial competency, to promote error reduction, and to enhance professional development
2. Guides and mentors others in the interpretation of research and evidence based practice publications
3. Conducts, supports, and/or participates in research projects to promote a knowledge base for nursing and advanced nursing practice
4. Promotes shared leadership through the active participation in activities to achieve the Nursing strategic goals, effective communication, and the resolution of problems
5. Provides insight into role expectations of the graduate nurse to the schools of nursing faculty
6. Develops, integrates, and implements goals of the hospital and nursing into services provided by the department
7. Serve as a member of the nursing, hospital, and system committees as appointed
8. Represents CHI on a local, state, nation, and international level
9. Manages departmental budgets to assure resources are available to achieve stated goals
10. Recruits, selects, and manages department personnel
11. Monitors work assignments and projects of department staff to maximize productivity and equitable distribution of assignments
12. Provides quality customer service through educational offerings, collaboration, and consultation
13. Serves as a liaison to the local schools of nursing and facilitates placement of students to achieve curriculum requirements
14. Collaborates with nursing schools and other workforce development initiatives to develop creative approaches to integrate academic and organizational education
15. Develops innovative methods to provide and enhance educational programs/offerings leveraging technology to increase access
16. Provide oversight to the continuing education accreditation program
17. Supports and participates in organizational initiatives as needed or assigned.

**Job Requirements**
Required Education and Experience
+ PhD or DNP
+ Bachelor's Degree in related discipline; Master's Degree strongly preferred
+ Registered Nurse (RN)
+ Minimum of 7 years experience in the discipline and 5 years leadership experience
+ Three (3) years general nursing experience; five (5) years of progressive management experience.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training
+ Effective communication skills, collaboration, and inclusive

**Responsibilities**
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate educational activities related to nursing clinical areas across the continuum of care. Serve as a strategic consultant for nursing clinical performance initiatives to create, implement, and evaluate multi faceted competency-based programs, delivery mechanisms, and clinical performance.
+ Collaborate with leaders and staff to assess nursing educational needs and competencies.
+ Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing and clinical educational plans/programs.

**Requirements**
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
+ BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
+ Registered Nurse credentialed from the Oklahoma Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Education:
+ Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing
**Additional Preferences**
These registered nurse (RN) positions will operate from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, focusing on in-service training and supporting preceptors in the ongoing development of RNs and other clinical staff. The goal is to enhance their skills, knowledge, and competencies in critical areas, including surgical techniques, equipment usage, policies, and safety protocols. There are two RN positions available, each responsible for their assigned facilities, detailed as follows:
- Nurse #1: St. John's Tulsa, Jenks, Broken Arrow
- Nurse #2: Jane Phillips, Nowata, Owasso
**Preferred Experience:**
Candidates for this position should be proficient subject matter experts (SMEs) and possess a minimum of 5 years of bedside experience in any of the following areas:
- Acute Care
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
- Emergency Department
